the governor's mansion. for two hours governor mccrory and his wife opened up their home to visitors. lots of treats and a few tricks. they enjoyed the mansion all the first family also enjoyed young guests at the white house today. president obama and his wife handed out her see kisses and -- hershey kisses and cookies to children of veterans. the fbi says it likely won't have a resolution to the hillary clinton e-mail probe before the november 8th election. the agency has to go through 650,000 messages to see if any and it will take days just to categorize them. the issue was on the mind of both campaigns today. both hillary clinton and donald trump talked about it during rallies. the rocky mount prep presidential nominee said clinton is not the victim, and that she broke the law. >> how can hillary clinton manage this country if she can't manage her e-mail? >> by all means they should look at them, and i'm sure they'll reach the same looked at my e-mails for the last year. this is no pace t case -- case here. >> hillary clinton hasn't been charged in connection to the e- mail receiverrer, and asked the -- server and asked the fbi to release information as quickly as possible. the e-mails were found on the computer of anthony weiner, married to one of clinton's top aids. and today tim kaine addressed the fbi investigation and the importance of north carolina and how in this election. wral's candace sweat was at the rally. >> senator tim kaine spoke to a crowd of about 350 people in sanford today, and he really wanted to drive home this one singular message, and that's that north carolina is one of the states that everyone is watching. >> reporter: hillary clinton's running mate senator tim kaine acknowledges north carolina is a coveted state. he says voters here should know that by now. important you are? i hope you do. >> reporter: tim kaine says it's his sixth time in north carolina since being announced as the vp candidate. and he's here again for one primary reason. to push voting. >> do you mind being motivated a little bit? can i spend time doing that? >> reporter: already over a million of people in north carolina opted to vote early. >> you can see who's early voted, but once somebody's voted okay we don't need to call them again, and you can focus efforts on those that were haven't. >> reporter: north carolina is considered a check mate state. experts say donald trump can't win the white house without winning north carolina, and tim kaine talked about trump calling his comments toward women vile, and he talked about his concern over the renewed fbi probe into clinton's e-mail server, and he question it is pending investigation because it may lead to nothing, so you wait until you get to the end of it before you talk about it. >> will be released this week to see how the candidates feel and how issues are influencing vote. we'll have exclusive results tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. on wral. late today the governor's office announced an award in approximate an unsolved -- in an unsolved murder case. someone knocked on the door and shot a 28-year-old while he was standing in the door 1a. more than a -- door. more than a year later investigators are trying to determine who's responsible. the governor's office is offering $5,000 for information conviction in the murder. and two people were taken to the hospital after a shooting in durham this afternoon. the victims are men, but police haven't released how serious the injuries are and who's responsible. a cary man is due in court tomorrow accused of trying to murder his ex-girlfriend and her son. 48-year-old bryan white approached her ex-girlfriend as she was talking her younger son on the school bus. he opened fire shotting her in the -- shootin neck. her older son was shot in the face. both received emergency surgery. white was accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend just days before. >> i told her this is an obsession, something is going to happen. i told her that. and look what happened. >> white will appear in front of a judge tomorrow on two murder. the naacp and several voters filed lawsuits against several election boards in north carolina saying the registrations are being unlawfully thrown it. it involves challenges to hundreds of voters in several counties. in most cases the mail is returned as undeliverable that the voter office can accept as evidence the voter no longer lives there. but according to the lawsuit the voters weren't given the chance to prove eligibility. they're asking for an emergency hearing this week. wral sre absolutes he was hit on highway 211 around 7:30 thursday night. the 43-year-old died at the hospital. if you have any information about the case call the highway patrol. a 15 month old child is in the hospital they've been out for three weeks because of flooding from the storm. students from west lumberton elementary are attending class at a nearby middle school because their school was so badly damaged. the governor has revised the number of storm related deaths from 28 to 27. a previous fatality was later determined the hurricane matthew. today the governor visited towns effected by the flooding. streets are lined with furniture and other items ruined by the flood waters. a far cry from the view of fair bluff in drone video shares with us in the days following the storm. fair bluff took on water from the lumber river and a dam break. yeah, folks still trying to recover. >> it's going to take months. ago in some ways, but people are still dealing with it. >> yeah, for months. well, we dealt with warm weather over the weekend. didn't deal with it today, but if you're a fan of the 8 others we have them -- 80s we have them on the way still. hopefully at some point we'll keep fall many people to flee their cars, and now they're left to deal with the damage. why experts say flood cars rot from the inside out, and open-faced turkey sandwich, half white, half wheat with extra of problems. >> look at the mold on the door. >> reporter: mold, mildew, mud, and contaminated water. obvious now, but: seats out, clean the carpets, the smell goes away for a little bit, the car looks good, but eventually the mold and bacteria comes back, the systems will corrode, shut out and fail. >> reporter: chris is with carfax, a web service that provides history reports on used vehicles. >> flooded cars are the one type of car we recommend nobody buy because it's unpredictable how the water will impact the vehicle. >> this is still wet. >> reporter: he shows us >> there's the water line. >> reporter: because a vehicle's paper trail may not always reflect flood damage, so thoroughly inspect any cruised video you're considering. >> the metal parts of the car, underneath the carpets, get into the nooks and crannies. if you see dirt or debris or any sign of water in the vehicle, walk away. you can reach underneath the dashboard here on the driver's side, feel the wires. and dried out will start to get brittle and crack. >> reporter: check under the hood. >> seeing signs of corrosion. >> reporter: and in the trunk. >> still standing water in the trunk. >> reporter: consider what you can't see. >> that's black mold, and can be scrubbed clean from the door, but will be growing in the ventilation system as well. that can't be cleaned. >> reporter: and know that horrid odor can be hidden. >> if there's an smell of cleaning products and perfumes, that could be another sign. >> reporter: he warns the risk of buying a flooded car will be at issue for months or even years after the flooding is long gone. >> through december 1st the dmv temporarily waves certain identifies for customers that -- fees for the customers in the hurricane effected areas. >> you talk about the weather, at least now we have been able we kind of need some rain. >> yes, the rest chance of rain is thursday, thursday night, and even then not a lot. we'll talk about the rain fall potential coming up, but yesterday we had a partial solar eclipse. take a look at this. nasa released images from the partial solar eclipse. it lasted about an hour. looked pretty cool. at the peak the moon covered about 59 percent of the sun. it may not have been visible here in the us because i didn't hear anything about it. typically if there was an eclipse we'd hear a lot satellite picture first, the rain fall potential to talk about. the upper level winds and temperatures and see what's going to get rid of warmth in the east. as we take a look at the jet stream, we do see the upper level winds coming in from the south and west across the southwest. we have a bit of a ridge of high pressure here in the lower mississippi valley and the southern plains. it's been very warm the last couple of days, and talk about being dry. exceptional drought across that will likely continue until they get rain that won't happen any time soon because their drier season is in october and november. now we have several little toughs of low pressure -- troughs of low pressure, one in california, and this one in the plains that delivered our cold front. here's the upper level winds and temperatures, and that rim to the south and west tends to build back into the area wednesday and thursday. tomorrow should still be cool. the last half hour we talked about the cloud cover developing in the morning and lasting the better keeping us a little cooler than today. if the clouds break up early we could get as warm as today, but wednesday we see the oranges coming back into the picture. 70s to80s, that's the pinnacle of the heat, and here comes the trough. it's a pretty deep one and deliver the cold front thursday night with maybe a little bit of rain, and it gets rid of the heat. notice the cooler colors coming back to georgia, alabama, fall friday into the weekend. we'll certainly enjoy the break, and that trend continues into sunday as well. so cooling for them and us too. let's take a look at the rain fall potential, and you see a pretty good batch of rain across parts of ohio valley, the northeast and the southwest, and of course the pacific northwest, and we have some green on us that would indicate between a quarter to half inch of rain that again would come thursday evening or thursday night, and then back to dry weather friday through the weekend. here's your seven-day forecast. there are two bigger daysover warmth this week. 82 wednesday, and then fall returns friday, saturday, sunday, monday. high temperatures in the 60s those morning lows back into the 40s, and by now we should have already experienced the first frost freeze, but it's going to be slow in getting here over the next seven days, it's not happening. >> yeah, pretty nice and mild. >>
