[gunfire] gun. >> in a statement the scott family encouraged everyone to reserve judgment until all of the facts are known. this is simply one step in our quest to find the truth for this family. they called on peace in charlotte in tonight's demonstration it certainly happen. >> reporter: i can tell you it it is -- it is so different than what it was on wednesday night that it is almost similar to what it was last night. i will get out of the way so our photographer can show you what is going on out there. that is a group of clergy. what you are hearing, i hope you can hear it. they finished singing, a choir from a local church here in charlotte. it is almost as if this community is trying to reclaim this intersection that was the scene of chaotic riot on wednesday of course last night and tonight peaceful protests. we caught up with some of them here in uptown charlotte. >> in uptown charlotte. businesses are open with plans to close early because of the curfew while others did not. posting signs on the door like this one. >> our streets. >> whose streets? >> our streets. >> businesses are opting to now police involved shooting that claimed the life of keith scott earlier. >> i am proud it is my generation moving towards this. i feel like we are -- we are the ones making the difference in the future obviously. and we are the ones that should push the world to a more inclusive state. >> this riot lead to the death of a protester who was shot by another protester. widespread vandalism and a dozen officers injured still fresh in everyone's mind. >> organizers of night march want to make sure that it stays peaceful while making their voices heard about stopping police violence. >> it makes me sad. makes mow -- me angry and makes me empowered. >> peaceful resistance. peace as the center peace for the cause. the best way to get others to listen and act. the cause is with sally, this is her third straight night demonstrating. >> why is it important for you >> i want to live in a just world. i want my children and grandchildren to grow up in a just world. >> reporter: back here live in charlotte you are looking at what amounts on to be a peaceful demonstration here. we are next to the epi center that is major district. ordinarily on a friday night with restaurants and night spots and bars that be bustling. many of the restaurants and spots closed early. many of them are closing early because of tonight's curfew. of course, a big rally and demonstration also planned for tomorrow right here at uptown shar let. thousands are expected. cullen, debra? . >> all right. thank you, reporting live for us in uptown charlotte, thank you. similar demonstrations were held tonight in other parts of the country. it had was the scene in atlanta this evening. crowds parched through the chanting the georgia chapter of the naacp put the rally together and it was a peaceful event. >> what is happening in charlotte is impacting people across north carolina. students held their own rallies to show their solidarity with the queen city. adam owens is here with more. >> students say they are fed up. they have seen officer-involved shootings in other parts of the country. this one in charlotte is a lot of them to action. >> i have seen so many bodies that look like mine fall to the hands of police. >> reporter: that is what these bodies are to represent. they took part in a dye in the student union. the mood was solemn and the room was silent. [crying] >> i sat and cried. >> reporter: earlier dem straighters held a rally held a rally outside. >> i am hurting and grieving. and i could not stand to let one more murder go by. without trying to get my voice not to be had heard. >> he better not be dead. >> raise your hand if you are from charlotte. >> peace,. >> no just! >> stop killing us! stop killing us! >> students north carolina feel the same. there was a large rally at unc chapel hill as l. -- as well. packed with the same emotion. a march through campus. this was organized by the black student union. williams is the president of that organization. >> this march is in recognition of the fact that black men, black women and children deserve the same sort of values placed on their lives as any other person. plan to join protesters in charlotte this weekend. now, there are plans to hold a forum next week between citizens and the police. debra? >> adam owens, thank you. we are monitoring the protest in charlotte. we will have another live report from ken smith in 30 minutes. the silent protest of pro quarterback kaepernick is spreading to high school football sidelines. half of the players at hillside high school in durham took a knee during the national anthem tonight. it happened just before their game school. cap nick began protesting over -- kaepernick began protesting over it. a teacher who stepped on an american flag as part of a lesson will be suspended for 10 days without pay. he is a history teacher at high school. he stepped on the flag as a teaching moment on the first amendment. it upset students and parents. punishment handed down by hill. >> so, i will not be silent. i will not sit down. i will exercise my right and i will follow this through. >> the superintendent called it inappropriate and he says he stands by his lesson plan. they are hoping new images will track down suspects in the deadly shooting. take a look. the police tell us the silver or gray car jackob's last night. the car appears to have damage to the left rear door and may have a small spoiler on the trunk. he was shot multiple times in the chest outside of a mcdonald's on capitol boulevard. he died at the hospital. the police are looking for two men who were in that silver car. deadly crash is under investigation at wake county. at 6:00. one person was thrown pr-t vehicle. that person died at the scene. we are working to find out if there were any other injuries. a judge could decide next week if key pieces of evidence in the chandler case will get tossed out. he is charged with killing three people in a deadly dwi crash after driving the wrong way down interstate 85. today his attorneys do not want his blood alcohol content or cell phone dataa to make it to trial. they say both were -- data to make it to trial. they say sloppy police work. hundreds of peep gathered to remember victims of domestic violence. remember my name candlelight vigil was held on the steps of the courthouse. during the sreugit the names of those who died as a result of domestic violence over the past year in north carolina were read aloud. the goal of the vigil is to highlight where people can go for help. state regulators reduced to 6.8 million fine against duke energy. the department of environmental settlement over the dan river coal ash spill. they appealed the settlement and both sides growed on a $6 million amount -- agreed on a $6 million amount. they ordered them to phase out the coal ash ponds and separate was cut last year from 25 down to $7 million. it is a bold and innovative way to help nonprofits and give law experience. opening a community clinic near moore square. 8 students will provide back up legal services free of charge to area nonprofit agencies and disadvantaged clients and overseen by ashley campbell. a megacelebration is underway in wash washington, d.c. give it an hour. it will be gone. okay. the rest of the day will be sunny. so, everybody is going to enjoy the sunshine tomorrow. all right, here satellite and the radar. again, this area of rotation that has been sitting off of the coast for what seems like a millennium now is starting to move and retreat. so as a result we finally are getting in on the dry air that is sitting up to the north and west for days now. finally it moved in and allowed our skies to clear. things will be in good shape overnight. now when you look at this towards 7:00 tomorrow morning you start to see all of the clouds and even patchy fog forming towards morning. again, a chance that you will be in one of the areas and you will get up and you will say my gosh it looks terrible. not going to take long at all to get rid of it. burn away quickly and the rest of the day will be sunny, warm, humid. some would call it hot with high temperatures around 90. then, a cold front begins to dip in from the north and the east on saturday night. we get up sunday morning it is socked in with clouds. don't think we will see much in the way of rain. maybe a few sprinkles or light showers. but getting the sun to come out the day on sunday ands as a result of it taking the sun away and having a cooler air mass move in behind the front. the temperatures could be 10-15 degrees cooler on sunday than they are going to be for tomorrow. now, a different look and a different feel but if you have outdoor plans for either day you are fine. it does not look like either day will be a wash out. definitely not tomorrow and sunday just a now sprinkles and light showers. for the rest of the night. still on the muggy side. the overnight low, 67. then, tomorrow, starting off with sunshine. scientific term. now, heading through the afternoon. fair weather clouds that will not pop up you and produce the rain. high temperatures around 90 and again, plenty of humidity to go along with that. then, contrast with that, sunday, all of a sudden we are socked in with clouds. just a couple sprinkles or light showers. weekend. then, a couple more showers on monday and our best chance of rain the next seven-days is on tuesday when we can have showers and thunder and lightning and all of that stuff. >> yes. very fun. >> yes. keeping it fun. >> absolutely. >> thank you, greg. all right, it will be a unique edition of fox's sunday night lineup. the main character takes no prisoner. >> ken smith will give us a preview of the son of zor. how the stars felt about working with an animated hero. the hurricanes are back at camp and getting long and much talked about playoff drought. young players. the team hit the ice for the first time early this morning at the arena. now, the head coach was not there because he is an assistant coach with team canada that is competing in the hockey world cup. that left the leadership up for the veterans for a group guys in the early good day. and i consider it was quick. it was fast. i think that is what bill is preaches and that is what we got today. so, i am sure he will be happy with it. >> the results, you know, shows that we are heading in the right direction and i feel like we have information to make the playoffs this year. >> two big road games ahead for the local teams. and a conference opener for host pittsburgh. steve logan breaking it down starting with tomorrow's game in chapel hill. >> if north carolina could not stop the james madison running game how in the sam hell are they going to stop pittsburgh running game? >> reporter: that is really the key. the centerpiece is about peace. even though at times traffic is di charlotte or on the interstate. that happens. but, what is happening here on the the corner of trade and college praise and worship team from a church here in charlotte have been singing praise and worship songs for the last maybe 45 minutes to an hour. and, you can sense the change in mood, the change in team is having an impact on everybody who is standing around. everybody who is standing around they are smiling, even though they are chanting they are holding their signs. it is -- it is religious-based. and this is them showing l faith. now, the other pockets of demonstrators making their way around charlotte tonight. so, this is just one group. several different pockets of dem straighters maki charlotte through the police department or if it is weston part of the uptown charlotte. they just have people everywhere chanting and showing signs. the word is they plan to continue to demonstrate even beyond tonight's curfew because remember, there is a curfew in place at midnight. just like last night, they plan to still be out here demonstrating. but, again, i want to be quiet [singing] [singing] >> that is the scene around here for the last hour. people just praising and worshiping here in this corner. >> so, what i am told is they are trying to get in uptown charlotte and reclaim this community according to them. cullen, debra. >> good to see the change. no question. parts of the city. that is really interesting as long as it stays peaceful. >> ken smith live in charlotte, thank you. >> one high school football game had to be postponed tonight because of a planned peaceful protest in downtown moresville. the game in statesville high is monday night at 7:00. the school district says the protest diminished efforts to staff the game. they noted the current climate and charlotte and the social media posts. funeral services will be shot and killed last week by a tulsa police officer. the family of 40-year-old terence cru it tcher says the funeral will be on saturday. a wake is planned for him who was fatally shot on a officer. she is charged with first degree manslaughter. a memorial fund for her four children got 157,000. president barack obama allowed families of september 11th victims to sue the government of saudi arabia. 15 of the 19 men who carried out the attacks it in new york, pennsylvania, washington, d.c. were saudi nationals. the president says the bill would help with national security. sets the stage for a veto override. now, tonight, trump says he is greatly honored that ted cruz said he will vote for rump for prid at the republican convention. today he changed his mind for wo?
