And the neuse river is a mile away, and we are seeing flooding here in the city of goldsboro. It has been quite a morning as we have been talking with the mayor and city manager about the status and the overview of whats going on here in the city. More than 125 structures damage. Even this morning, water rescues are taking place. When i spoke with the county manager about how quickly the water was rising, they have been going to homes trying to get people out, yesterday and this morning. A lot of them some of them because they feel like the water is not coming to them but sooner or later, the water does come and they have to get out. So the situation in goldsboro is changing quickly as the neuse river rises to a record level. Last night, it started ticking its way down very, very slowly, and this morning, it filled up to the front yard. We were watching it progress through the its way up to the porch. Reporter and the other issue is that many residents are dealing with no power, without electricity and duke energy did have crews here trying to get to locations, but logistically, its been difficult to get to those places because of roads washed out or covered with water, and they do have crews from as far as michigan helping them out to are mica thurmond in raleigh to talk about the Power Outages. Reporter across the state nearly 166,000 customers are without power. Duke energy said all power should be restored as late as monday morning. Lets take a look at the numbers of the hardest hit areas. Robeson county with the most number in the state at 17500. Wake has 8000 power. Harnett is down to about 6500 and wayne county still has 5000 customers in the dark. Of course, as crews are heading out, they are asking for patience during this very difficult time. Last night, the red cross and Partner Organizations are in 61 shelters, 4 in wayne and we housed about 3000 folks to grow in the coming weeks if flooding like this continues. Last night, the red cross and Partner Organizations<\/a> are in 61 shelters, 4 in wayne and we housed about 3000 folks to grow in the coming weeks if flooding like this continues. Thats what were doing with the shelters right now, a safe place to stay, a cannot, a blanket cot, a blanket, and a hot meal. Orter and how are you able to help people in such organizations will be on every scene until every need is met and we will be working one on one with folks impacted to make sure that their needs are met. The tar river at tarboro is slowly rising and is expected to crest this afternoon at more than 35 feet. More than 150 buildings are at risk of high water and in greenville, the tar river is expected to crest on friday. Widespread flooding is putting more than 500 buildings at risk. And we expect to get a status update on a crumbling hole that is as large as two large trucks. The National Guard<\/a> is using pumps and sandbags to slow the water flow and try and stop this. But concerns over the potential breach led to the evacuation of hundreds of residents, many quite reluctant to leave. As we go south into Cumberland County<\/a> along cape fear, those news for Cumberland County<\/a>. Still above flood stage but moderate flood stage and the numbers continue to fall. So the neuse river and wayne county and kinston and parts of the tar river in tarboro and princeville, the levels continue to climb.
