intelligence analysts now believe scientists in north korea can produce miniature nuclear warheads that can fit inside those icbm missiles. kim jong-un launched two of them last month. but for now all eyes focused on guam because the threat was so specific, saying four missiles giving an approximate date and saying the waters, not the island itself. this may increase the likelihood they may actually do this, george. >> okay, martha, let's talk about it more with steve ganyard. steve, as martha said it's a specific provocation. four or five missiles towards guam in the next couple of weeks and a warning against it from both south korea and japan. >> yeah, george, the specificity is interesting. not only does it guess anything state the kind of missile, it says four and the parts of japan it will overfly and what the intent is so i think what we're looking at is part of the continuing test program because this missile that they're talking about has been very unreliable and never launched it in salvo, in multiples so could be a convenient choice to test it further. >> it's supposed to go over international waters and the other areas but could get close to u.s. territory if it gets within the u.s. territorial waters. what do we do? >> george, there's a thad missile system, a new defensive missile system that we talked about in south korea before. it's intended to defend areas. a good missile to have there. the problem is it's still a developmental missile and although it has 100% success rate it's never been tested against four and the north koreans know that. but as you know, the real concern here is guam is american territory and the north koreans miscalculate that's an act of war. >> so take us inside the decision-making process, inside the government as north korea prepares for this. they'll be watching every second of every day but how will they make the decision whether or not the test requires a response? >> the radars that will pick up the launch from north korea will hand off that data as the missile travels towards guam and this thad missile system is very sophisticated and it'll operate almost on automatic mode and so it sees that missile coming in, the press, i'm sure, will authorize if they do see one coming in they're authorized to knock it down so a lot will be automated and data that will be passed off through a series of radars out in the western pacific. >> tensions are getting high, steve ganyard, thanks very much. paula. >> thank you, george. we want to turn to new developments in the russia investigation. we have now learned the fbi conducted a morning raid at the home of former trump campaign chairman paul manafort using a search warrant. our senior white house correspondent cecilia vega has the latest details from bedminster, new jersey, for us. good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: hi, paula. good morning. this stems from special counsel robert mueller's investigation into russian election interference. you said it. a dozen agents showed up at his home and took documents and other materials. it happened early in the morning and late last month. this is now just coming to light. the trump team has really tried to distance themselves from paul manafort but paul manafort, of course, ran his campaign toward the end -- before the election there and also oversaw the republican national convention but really it is his past work in pro-russian/ukrainian politics that has him under scrutiny and had -- in the wake of this his spokesman released this. mr. manafort has consistently cooperated with law enforcement and other serious inquiries and did so on this as well. the big question, if paul manafort was cooperating to the level that the feds want him to cooperate would they have had to conduct this raid on his home >> that's what everybody wants to know. back to the spokesman statement right there, cecilia. you mentioned, quote, other serious inquiries referencing congressional investigators. what else are they looking for from manafort? >> reporter: they are looking for information from paul manafort but also donald trump jr., the president's son. and, of course, this goes back to that famous now infamous trump tower meeting between those two others and the russian lawyer. they're also looking for information about the russian interference in general and the campaign, the trump campaign has released 20,000 documents to the senate judiciary committee recently. >> cecilia, we will see you on "world news tonight." thanks. we get more on both of these from matthew dowd, chief legal analyst dan abrams. matthew, let me turn to you and north korea. we see the action/reaction cycle going on right now. the president's fire and fury comments spark a new reaction from north korea. even though the president's team trying to modulate his rhetoric. >> well, it's very interesting the president's team is basically saying don't pay attention to the president so the calm and cooler heads aren't the president. the calm and cooler heads are general mattis, general kelly, general mcmaster, nikki haley. almost as if they're the offensive line protecting the american people of the world from something they see as a threat. einstein said, you cannot solve a problem with the same thinking that created a problem. they need to step back and figure out what is it over the last 25 years they haven't been able to do in order to build this. >> there are no good answers to that nuclear threat. the russia investigation and let's talk about this raid on paul manafort's home. quite significant in that a judge had to approve it. >> that's right. it also means that it's clear that the authorities do not believe that he's cooperating as he says that he is. now, he may be offering up documents and cooperating to some degree but clearly don't believe he's cooperating enough because they went to a judge to say, we need to go to his house, we need to go in and potentially find documents. >> knock on his bedroom door. >> yeah, so the judge had to sign off on having probable cause of a crime where they could find evidence there. so that's a big deal. now, dogs that mean that a crime was committed? no. does that necessarily mean they're going to be able to link it to donald trump? no. but it is significant with regard to the investigation into manafort and what they're saying publicly about his cooperation and what the authorities think about that. >> politico reporting the investigators are look at paul manafort's son-in-law who he is in business with as well. it does seem like there's something of a strategy here both with paul manafort and general flynn, put the pressure on, see if they'll flip. >> maybe, yeah, but see if they've committed crimes. i mean, everyone is sort of viewing manafort and flynn as potentially part of this ladder to go up higher, but i think that the authorities there are also looking into whether they committed crimes. i think that's important here. i think that's part of the investigation. it's not all just pieces in the puzzle to get to a higher level. >> the president back on twitter continuing his feud now with the senate republican leader mitch mcconnell. >> you would think for a guy that's basically down to almost 30% approval rating in the country he'd be looking for friends wherever he can find them. mitch mcconnell is the leader of the party, his party in the united states senate and the only signature achievement that the president has had in the congress was neil gorsuch getting on the supreme court and that was because of mitch mcconnell. you would think the president would take some accountability since he's the head of his parrott for whatever happens on his legislation but he's [ cheers and applause ] >> that's pretty good. >> and you got that and you have your daughter too. instagram, you have senior citizens now you have your daughter. she is already singing. she's only 2. >> yeah. >> teaching her early. >> yeah, hopefully she doesn't have my pitch training. >> oh, she is adorable. >> yeah. >> sloan is her name? >> yes. sloan. >> what is she singing here? >> this is "moana." her favorite. >> such a good singer. yay. >> so beautiful, man. >> thank you. >> you have two big singles out. you have "comblorous" and "marmalade." >> yes. [ cheers and applause ] back now with the procedure new moms are using to get their stomach back in shape. mara schiavocampo met with a fitness expert who showed her how to reduce the so-called mummy tummy. >> so you're just going to bring the chin towards the chest. >> reporter: in is not your normal everyday gym class. >> make sure those shoulders stay glued to the mat. >> reporter: one designed to help moms beat that stubborn belly bulge that sometimes comes home aloan with their brand-new baby. >> you're lifting from the belly of the inner thigh. >> reporter: i joined fitness expert lea keller at new york city's clay health club to check out moves she says will help tone the tummy using a technique called the dia method. how do those exercises address abdominal separation. >> as long as that belly button is drawing into the spine you are correctly engaging the natural core. >> reporter: the growing uterus stretches out the abdomen during pregnancy that can cause the vertical bands of muscle to meet in the middle to separate. for some their postpartum belly is actually a medical condition called diastasis recti. >> what's causing the bulge is the pressure from your internal abdominal cavity so whenever you strain or do certain positions, you would see bulging through. >> was this something you had heard of before. >> i definitely hadn't heard the scientific name but i could see it on myself. >> at the gym keller showed us how to burn off some of that stomach. but first things first, the proper technique. >> you're going to slide your hand out super sexy, rest your head on your arm, that's the pivot point and then roll on to your back. >> reporter: then the waist sin cher. >> it literal cinches it. >> what kind of results do you see? >> i see tremendous measurable results. i see inches off their waist. >> reporter: even with these results many experts say more research needs to be done but agree that these exercises can help give a head start on losing that belly pouch. for "good morning america," mara schiavocampo, abc news, new york. >> thanks, mara. that's great news for us moms out there. let's go outside to rob. hi there, rob. >> hey, paula, look at this crowd. kansas, iowa, indiana, maryland, dallas happy 33rd birthday, do you feel old now. what do you have planned? >> it was a trip to the city for a week without the kids, we're having a wonderful time. congratulations, happy birthday. you have great weather. we don't talk about climate outlook, we have above average temperatures across much of the country through october. that's a check on the national forecast. check out what's happening where you live. >> reporter: i was talking on social media on facebook live, the next ten days we're at or below average and in three or four weeks we go above. we're dry, mostly sunny skies, 85, close to average, unsettled tomorrow. >> thank you, rob. and i got to say, hear the crowd. they're excited. it is great to have robert pattinson here, everybody. he stars in a new movie "good time." he plays a con man looking out for his brother. let's take a look. >> how would you like it if i made you cry? would you like that. >> no, i would not. >> get up. >> told me i had to do it. >> let's go. >> he has all my stuff. >> this is my work. this is my stuff. okay. >> shame on you. >> shame on me? shame on you. >> shame on you. >> yeah. welcome. welcome, man. >> thank you. >> i'm going to talk about your queens accent in a moment but when you -- i had a chance to watch the movie. you burst into the room. you look so different in this movie. >> i had a bath since then. well, kind of. >> what was the transformation like for you physically for this movie? >> i mean, well, we're shooting a lot of it just on the treat and shots and stuff and i kind of -- also with a lot of first time actors and i didn't want to seem like i'm an actor playing a part really so i had a lot of time to kind of just basically convince people that i kind of was that and kind of one of the first times i stayed in character for a significant period of time. but it's very satisfying just wandering around shooting a movie and no one noticed because like no one in it looks recognizable at all. >> i tell you what, watching the movie you definitely were that character. you embodied that character the entire way through and had this accent. you're speaking with an english accent now which i'm used to but the queens accent. you mastered it. how did you master it? >> i mean i've always kind of liked doing accents. it's kind of -- it's a holdover. my mom is one of those people talking to someone on the phone with an accent and by the end of the conversation no matter how strong their accent is she's fully imitating that. and i guess it's a kind of holdover. i find it really fun. but i mean i spent a lot of time in queens and queens center mall. i was in the tattoo shop there for ages and ages. >> you know how many people are going, i wish i would have went into that tattoo shop. >> i kept walking in on people getting -- i wanted to talk to the tattoo or to the piercing guy and i would keep interrupting him in the middle of a tongue piercing, so just say this line. and they're like -- >> you know but i heard this movie was essentially written for you so what drew you to this movie? >> i mean, i really liked the safdie brothers, one of whom was in the clip. i really like their previous movie and i just felt very while and out of control and it kind of felt like it was almost a documentary and i just wanted to do something like that i wanted to make a thriller which felt like it was on the cusp of the cops just busting in at any moment and hopefully it does feel wild. >> it did. it made me stay up later, past my bedtime worried about you last night. this is quite a different experience. no one recognized you as you were filming this movie. quite a different experience from "twilight" days. you had to do crazy stuff, hire multiple ubers and hiding in trunks to get away from people. >> yeah, that was -- i used to do that with my assistant all the time. but the most embarrassing thing, you kind of -- you get to a point where you have no idea if anyone is even following you or not. it's like everybody -- >> get in the trunk. i don't know if somebody is following or not. get in the trunk. did the uber driver freak out when you got in the trunk. >> i didn't get in the trunk of a uber. that would be kind of incredible though. that's definitely i'm going to do that just for fun. >> another project you did. i want to ask you about. you did something for "gq." in search of a hot dog. >> yeah. >> tell us about that. >> that was -- i mean i guess for every single magazine cover now you have to do these little videos or whatever and the -- we were initially going to do it just normal questions on a roller coaster and didn't have time to go to adventureland which was in the movie and so i basically wrote this thing and like ten minutes like and in the back of an uber. but, yeah, and so, yeah, we wrote this thing and it's kind of just a thing about being crazy, i guess. >> in pursuit of a hot dog. you and uber, man, seem to always come back together again. i appreciate you being here, man. it was great to watch you in the film. you were awesome. >> thank you. >> in the film. it is "good time." it hits select theaters tomorrow. make sure you check out, robert, everybody. coming up macklemore and skylar grey are going to perform live. ♪ > back now with macklemore and skylar grey.
