lehigh valley. these will continue to increase from west to east throughout the day. forecast for this afternoon, temperatures climb into the low 60s by 1:00 p.m. we could see scattered showers in the city at that point. 3:00 p.m., 59. 5:00 p.m., we're back down to 57. same thing. the best chance of seeing the showers would be later this afternoon shooting for a high of 62. when i come back in just a few minutes, we have showers in the forecast overnight tonight, swells tomorrow, there are several other days where we could see wet weather, as well. that's straight ahead in the seven-day forecast, i'll time it you will out with future tracker. developing right now, philadelphia police are looking for the attacker who stabbed a 24-year-old man to death near rittenhouse square. the victim was celebrating st. patrick's day with friends. trish hartman is on the scene with the details. trish. >> reporter: well, nydia, police say it happened at the buildings behind me at 18th and rittenhouse, a group of friends were out celebrating st. patrick's day around 3:00 a.m. when a man approached them. witnesses say the man who was wearing a new jersey devil baseball cap asked the victim if he was a flyers fan and stabbed the victim in the stomach at least once and ran down 19th street. police administered cpr, but the 24-year-old was pronounced at the hospital. we spoke to a woman who was living on rittenhouse square she noticed the commotion and ran over and tried to help the victim before police arrived. everybody was hysterical, it was clear something bad had happened. i put my coat off and put pressure on him, win a couple of minutes the ambulance was there, it was tragic and senseless. now, police say several surveillance cameras captured the incident. they are reviewing the video. if you have any information on the man wearing that new jersey detective's hat, homicide detective's would like to hear from you. live in hit and rittenhouse con, trish hartman. thank you. in west philadelphia, police say a stray bullet is to blame for killing an 18-year-old girl. they say several men fired shots on the 300 block of north salford street 11:45 p.m. one bullet traveled to the 400 block and struck the girl in the chest. she died at the hospital. police are looking for the shooters. an early-morning fire has displaced a family of three down the shore. the action cam was on the scene 100 block of 45th street around 5:00 a.m. the home's roof collapsed. the mother, father and adult son who live there were not home at the time. they are receiving help from the american red cross. exchange of gunfire on the streets of chester ended with the police captain wounded and the suspect dead. overnight tonight into monday. but rainfall totals are in line maybe half inch to three-quarters of an inch. nothing too heavy. cloudy skies, showers developing west of philadelphia. that will be the trend throughout the day. they will increase from west to east. notice how broken apart this is. nothing too heavy here. first thing monday morning things change a little bit, a lot of clouds out there, patchy fog, ponding on roads, showers become heavier. shades of yellow and orange there. tomorrow is a raw, miserable day, chilly. ocean temperatures are still in the low 40s right now that will keep temperatures down into the 50s and 40s throughout the area. rainfall totals anywhere from half inch to a three quarters of an inch this all is said and done. the big concern is for the shorepoints from lakehurst to wildwood. the winds pick up out of the east 25 to 35 miles per hour. higher guests may develop, as well. 1:00 p.m., high tide in atlantic city. you can see the winds piling the water onshore, gusts as high as 40 miles per hour. coastal flooding could be an issue from wildwood to sandy hook. as far as flooding from rain i don't see anything like that happening. it's just the coastal flooding. showers developing during the afternoon, 62 degrees is the forecasted high, we'll not hit that number for very long. once it starts raining or showering, that number know when that arrives in the seven day when i see you in just a little bit. police are reviewing surveillance video to identify a suspect in the fatal stabbing in rittenhouse square. the call came in at 18th street near the square there. a group of friends were finishing a night out when they encountered a man who questioned them about the flyers. the man stabbed the 24-year-old victim with the knife. police began cpr and rushed the victim to hanheman hospital where he died. police are looking for a man wearing a new jersey devils cap. are a firefighter was hurt battling a fire in south jersey overnight. you can see the home where the black smoke poured from the home. two people inside made it out safely, thankfully, but it is believed their two dogs died in the fire. a firefighter is being treated for a leg injury after the floor partially collapsed. the fire is under investigation. dramatic video obtained exclusively by "action news" shows a chester police captain being shot in the line of duty. it happened near the intersection of parker and union street. authorities say police stopped the car because it was believed to be stolen. in the video you can hear the police yell for the suspects to get out of the car. the captain in the white shirt approaches and a shot is fired out the window. persons within the vehicle were uncooperative with the police, there was an exchange of gunfire. it is our understanding that someone from the car began shooting at the police, police returned fire. one suspect in the car was killed. a second is hospitalized in stable condition while a third is in custody. the police captain alan davis was hit twice. he was rushed to crozer-chester medical center where he is in good condition. after the shooting, neighbors gathered at the scene, a scuffle broke out. many say they believe the police opened fire first. officers ended up using pepper entree on the crowd after someone threw an object at them. we'll hear from the chester mayor in the next half-hour. and turning now to the race for president there was more violence at a donald trump rally. the candidate himself became a target of a protester. here's abc's welcome in chicago. >> reporter: trump canceled the rally citing public safety, but the violence spilled into the street. trump blamed bernie sanders supporters. some represented bernie or communist trump got no sympathy from fell republicans. on tuesday the campaign trail wind through five states where voters decide who gets hundreds of delegates at stake. marco rubio of florida and governor kasich at ohio both are lagging badly and facing voters in both home states. a new poll shows donald trump with a commanding lead. 89 poll is at 45%. ted cruz has 23%, while marco rubio and john kasich are tied with over 12%. voters in our area have a months before casting their ballots. primaries in pennsylvania and delaware are not until tuesday april 26. new jersey voters head to the poll on june 7. a man shot in the face managed to drive himself three miles to get help. he drove to the gulf gas station at wynnfield and bryn mawr in overbrook section. police believe she was -- that he was shot during a robbery attempt. he was rushed to penn presbyterian hospital in critical condition. a janitor at philadelphia international airport was arrested for stealing a pilot's bag. the bag had a gun inside that was left inside a rest room in terminal b. it led to delaying flights for about an hour while they located the gun. the decision was made for the safety of the flying public to make sure no flights took off with a dangerous item on board. >> reporter: that weapon was found inside a janitor supply closet near the restroom. the pilot from a republic airway was authorized to carry the gun. new jersey officials are busy getting out the word that tomorrow morning's commute will not be disrupted by striking transit workers. a tentative deal was struck. that means it's smooth sailing for the five thousand people who use the transit to get to work and school. there will be no fare hikes to cover the cost of the contracts through 2017. details of the new deal have not been released. a massive construction project that will eventually alter the center city skyline will start to take shape. more than 300 trucks portland tons of cement to create the base of the 1213 walnut street to tower. the large foundations will be of feet deep supporting 20 story highrise with 322 apartments including retail space on the first floor. the apartment buildings expected to be opening random killing in rittenhouse square. this morning the search is on for a man who attacked a 24-year-old enjoying a night out with friends. we're live with the latest on the developing story. one home is gone, a second damage after a fire inside a jersey shore home overnight. but first, we want to begin with breaking news coming out of delaware county. the mayor of chester has scheduled a news conference to give an update on the deadly police-involved shooting that happened yesterday. action cam is live inside chester city hall to speak about the exchange of gunfire that wounded a captain broad daylight on video obtained exclusively by "action news," you can hear police yell for the occupants to get out of the car. always the officer in the white shirt approaches a car door, a shot is fired right out the window. there's a an exchange of gunfire. witnesses duck for safety. when the gunfire stopped one suspect was dead another injured and a third under arrest. captain alan davis was shot twice in the arm and lower part of his body. he is in good condition. police say the car was stopped because it was suspected of being stolen. we're awaiting a news conference to begin at chester is in store today. >> reporter: yeah, next couple of days does not look too good around the delaware and lehigh valleys. the green is overspreading the entire region right now. now the bark is a little bit worse than the by the. a lot of -- worst than the bite, we're picking up rain showers west of reading. some of the activity is steadier than light, but most of it is on the lighter side. we'll zoom into south jersey, route 30, garden state parkway from cape may to atlantic city could be wet. take your time as you travel this afternoon. the showers will increase in coverage thought the day and intensity overnight tonight into tomorrow. for this afternoon, accuweather says cloudy skies, showers developing during the day, high temperatures topping out around 62 degrees. that will be earlier in the day. once the showers start to develop that's when the temperatures begin to cool down. monday will be the coldest day we'll see in quite sometime. the high is 350 degrees that occurs after midnight. the temperatures camp out in the 40s with a strong easterly breeze. we'll see winds 30 to 40 miles per hour. it's raining all day long. enjoy today, even though it's not a perfect finish to the weekend, it's better than a what we'll see tomorrow. we'll go back to chester where the news conference is about to begin, the mayor talking about the police officer-involved shooting. let's listen in. good morning, and thank you for coming on such short notice to the press conference. we wanted to give the media and the communities a little bit of an update on an on going investigation. i want to emphasize this is an on going having, there are same things we cannot comments on, because the investigation continues. first of all i want to thank all of you for being here and members of council and solicitor and commissioner and law enforcement team executive team along with the chaplins and others who have come out today to talk about the situation concerning yesterday. first, let me say that captain davis is serious, but stable condition. i want to commend the doctors at crozer for doing an excellent job of making sure he is comfortable and taking very good care of him. our prayers go out to him and his family. one of the persons within the vehicle they are in critical, but stable condition. our prayers go out to this young man, as well. we also want to -- i want to palls and just give -- pause and give accolades to the great work done by our law enforcement chain. there could have been a volatile situation down in the william penn area of our city, but our police officers did an excellent job in restraint and keeping their calm and making sure that they were able to do their jobs even in the midst of some hostile situation. i want to commend our law enforcement personnel in particular, deputy commissioner blair, and also chief nolan along with the officers that were down there in the midst of all of that. they practiced some real restraint and professionalism as they dealt with the situation down there in that area. i also want to thank the rest of the law enforcement team commissioner austin, major lee for providing us with information that was needed being at the hospital, talking with the families of the police officers, as well as families of the accused. they were able to provide information to them and be able to counsel and console other police officers and members of the family that were there at crozer. i want to thank them, once again i believe this is one of the best and more professional law enforcement teams ever assembled and we appreciate them greatly. my prayers go out to the family of the young man, the deceased, i pray are for his mom and his family. i meant to send a message to the young people and the people in the community. as we go through life, period, we have to make good decisions, good decisions, wake up in the morning god has given us something and that is the right and opportunity to make a choice. and we make good choices good things happen. when we make bad choices, bad things happen. so it is my prayer and hope that we encourage our young people to make good choices. it's not a good choice for young people in this community to have weapons in their hands. it's not a good choice by young people to walk around with illegal guns in their possession. you need shooting, as well as the slide show of the investigation. now to a developing news, the search is on for a man behind a random attack in rittenhouse square. the 24-year-old victim was stabbed and killed during a night out with friends. trish hartman joins us live from the scene at 18th and rittenhouse with the details on the investigation. trish you've been working the story, what are you learning about this? >> reporter: well, gray, police are looking for the attacker after a scary night for that group of friends. it happened at 3:00 a.m. at 18th and rittenhouse when a man with a knife approached the group stabbing one of the men in the abdomin. i took off my coat and knelt down next to him, i pulled up his shirt and i saw what was obviously a stab wound, and yeah put my jacket on it. >> reporter: from there the witness said she tried to keep the 24-year-old victim calm until the ambulance arrived. but he was pronounced at hanheman university hospital a short time later. witnesses say the attacker was a man wearing a new jersey devils hat and asked the victim about the philadelphia flyers before stabbing him police say the suspect fled. several surveillance cameras captured the stabbing. this is very unusual, this is something that doesn't happen in this type of area. this is a relatively safe area, rittenhouse square. >> reporter: so far no arrests have been made, if you have any information built attacker, philadelphia -- about the the attacker, philadelphia police would like to hear from you. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." in west philadelphia, police say a stray bullet is to blame for killing an 18-year-old girl. they say several men fired shots on the 300 block of north salford street at 11:45 and one bullet traveled to the 400 block and struck the girl in the chest. she died at the hospital. police are looking for the shooter. your time 10:09. an early-morning fire has displaced a family of three down the shore. the action cam was at the scene 100 block of 445th street in brigantine around 5:00 a.m. during the fire, the home's roof collapsed and the flames spread to the neighboring house. the mother, father and adult son who live there were not home at the time, but they are receiving help from the american red cross. to politics, now, more donald trump rallies turned ugly this weekend. get him out. >> trump police say 33-year-old dejuan wagner was driving the car that was rear ended on 295 in west deptford last monday night, trooper sean cullen was hit and killed by another car after responding to the first accident scene. wagner a camden high school basketball star was drafted by the cleveland cavaliers and sidelined by injuries later. family and friends will say goodbye to sean cullen this afternoon. a public viewing will be held at 2:00 p.m., a second viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00. a funeral mass will follow at noon. trooper cullen will be buried at lake view memorial park. a big effort is growing in south jersey in support of trooper cullen's family. a long line stretched through shop rite. people purchased blue bows and ribbons. it began on facebook and took off from there. we can't make bows fast enough. we have people that are helping to buy, they are pitching in $5 a beau they are making their own bows, we're teaching them as they are standing this line waiting so
