2:45 a.m. the 36-year-old man behind the wheel lost control and hit a parked car. he kept going and hit another four cars on the 400 block of walnut before stopping. the man was taken to cooper university medical center for injuries and treated for a heroin overdose. a used syringe was found on the driver. the annual summer police crews were back in philadelphia. dann cuellar was along south street where we we have seen problems in past years. >> reporter: this is what happened on south street in 2010. a flash flood of 3,000 teenagers converged fighting and knocking pedestrians to the police put in place a plan to bring in large numbers of officers to south street to keep things from getting out of hand. they enforced a summer curfew. minors under 17 and under must be off south out. new this morning philadelphia police are investigating a home invasion that ended in a shooting. it happened before 4:00 a.m. on the 5900 block of d street in thety's olney section. a 46-year-old man was asleep on the second floor when he heard a noise. he woke up torched a -- to find a man in his bedroom. the homeowner got a handgun and fired. the intruder was struck in the stomach. no word if any charges will be filed against the homeowner. police say a drunk driver slammed into nearly ten parked cars in philadelphia's somerton section causing extensive damage you can see here. the cars left a mangled mess. it happened at 10:15 p.m. a man lost control of his dodge ram and hit nine parked vehicles, he was arrested and charged with dui. nobody was hurt. the action cam was on the scene of a nasty crash in doylestown bucks county late last night. 8 people were injured when three cars collided at peple hill and spring valley road. one vehicle landed on its side. one injured was flown to temple university hospital. no word on what caused the crash or the severity of the injuries. in new york, the woman charged with helping two men escape from a maximum security prison is due back in court on monday. she made her first appearance yesterday and entered a not guilty plea. meanwhile, the manhunt continues for the two fugitives. >> reporter: prison employee joyce mitchell facing a judge charged with helping those inmates escape. mitchell supervised the tailor shop and smuggled in contraband playing a roll to help them break out of the maximum security prison. >> this is a large piece of the puzzle. >> reporter: last year mitchell was cleared into a vehicles whether she was having a relationship with one of the fugitives. authorities are looking into whether the 51-year-old was supposed to pick them up in a getaway car last weekend but never showed, possibly leaving them on still on foot and hiding out in this area. >> you have to assume they are cold wet tired and hungry that makes them more dangerous and desperate. >> reporter: the search intensifies officers on atvs combing the woods. people neesh -- nearby warned to lock their doors. >> i have a loaded shotgun next to the bed. >> reporter: meanwhile investigators say they are talking to other prison workers who may have helped the fugitives. joyce mitchell faces the potential of 8 years in prison if convicted. abc news west platberg new york. dennis hastert's information in the case will be disclosed only to those involved in the case. the charge grow out of dennis hastert's alleged sexual abuse when he was a high school wrestling coach and his efforts to pay $3.5 million in hush money to the victims. we're looking at cyber attack targeting millions of federal employees. there could be as many as 14 million employees. hackers stole personnel data and social security numbers for all the federal 0 workers. the attack originated in china. the chinese government has denied any involvement. there's a tentative contract agreement between the catholic school teachers union and the archdiocese. union members must ratify the deal in a vote at the end of the months. if accepted the contract would take effect in september. details will not released until after members vote. thousands of people with resumes in hands turned out at camden county college hoping to qualify for one of 800 jobs
