a violent home invasion sent a man to the hospital and has philadelphia police searching for suspects. where is winter? temperatures are soaring into the 60s today, how long will the warm weather stick around? we have the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast with meteorologist chris sowers outside is the place to be today. >> reporter: that's right, nydia. i'll tell you, good afternoon to you, if you have not been out doors yet, you're in for a treat. temperatures are closing in on 60 degrees, 20 degrees warmer than same time yesterday. look at the temperature change, everybody anywhere from 19 to 22 degrees warmer. we're seeing the milder temperatures. 58 for philadelphia. 59 in atlantic city and wilmington. 55 in dover. millville, checking in at 57. reading, 58. trenton, 55. lancaster, 59. the normal high for this time of the year is 47 degrees, which usually occurs between 4 and 3:00 p.m. here we are midday hour already close to 60. satellite and radar, you don't have to worry about cloud cover. stays to the north, new england, northern tier states will remain cloudy, for us, lovely shades of blue. 64 degrees is the forecasted high. that is the first of the several consecutive days where we top out at 60 degrees or higher. when we come back we'll talk about shower chances in the seven day, including one by week's end which could mix with snow. we are talking about 60s and we may have to deal with snow later this week. i'll have the details coming up. let's focus on today, many people are taking full advantage of the spring-like temperatures. trish hartman is live atll. >> reporter: it is the last day of ice skating at the rothman ice rink. there's lots of kids and moms and dads skating. you won't see a lot of heavy jackets or hats. lots of taking pictures of the love statue in dillworth mark. temperatures are in the 60s, we found folks that are enjoying the taste of spring at the ice rink. perfect we don't need winters jackets and halts. >> reporter: we have to go out to work and it's freezing cold out, we wear 15 jackets and three pairs of pants, we have to huddle for warmth. when it's nice out we go out and have fun. >> reporter: now the ice rink employees have to be out here with the other folks skating, snow or shine. enthough they are sad to say goodbye to the season. the ice rink is open until 8:00 p.m. tonight and then it closes for the season. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." at the big board and other news, family friends and colleagues are mourning the death of a virginia police officer who was killed a day after being sworn in. we've just learned that the suspect was an army staff sergeant assigned to the pentagon. more than 100 patrol cars lined the road this morning to pay tribute to ashley guindon shot and killed responding to a call of a domestic dispute. two other officers were wounded. they are expected to survive. a civilian woman was killed before the suspect arrived. the suspect, is a active army staff sergeant at the pentagon. he is in custody and expected in court tomorrow. ashley guindon served as a county police officer a few years ago. she just returned to the force. funeral services are being held for former miss new jersey who died days after being injured in a car crash. kara mccullum is being laid to rest in her home state of arkansas. next month the new jersey education foundation will host a ceremony in her honor at the ocean city tabernacle. officers say two men wearing dark hoods forced their way into a victim's apartment at 47th and chestnut. they tied him up and covered his head and beat him. the man broke free and called police. he is in the hospital in stable condition. the suspect got away with cell phone and wallet and car keys. police are trying to track down a man who stabbed a woman in the septa elevator. it happened in the hung ton station of the market -- huntington station of the market frankford el. the suspect pulled out a knife and tried to rob the victim. he stabbed her in the shoulder abbey leg while trying to look through her pockets. the man crawled out of the elevator and was taken to the hospital. call police if you have any information. police are trying to determine if two early morning robberies were the work of the same man. the action cam was on the 8100 block of castor avenue. a man with a crow bar entered the store at 3:30 and demanded money and cigarettes. the action cam was along about n street. a wawa clerk identified the suspect. this is the slerchts in -- 7-eln in the rawnhurst section of the city a man tried to rob the store with a crow bar. nobody was injured, but a police officer was injured while trying to arrest the man. 88th annual academy awards is tonight on of abc. tomorrow we start out with shower in the morning and in the afternoon it's full sun. there's monday's system, it's weak and unorganized a couple of rain and snowshowers for the high plains and the western great lake states. that will travel east in the next 24 hours. there's a lot of cold bottled up in the southern canada. everything is racing west to east across the country it is bottling up produce store. it happened at oxford and deavereau avenues. both women were taken to einstein with non-life threatening injuries. police are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash. police are rooking -- looking for a killer who gunned down a man in newark. shots rang out at the prides court apartment. he was taken to christian hospital where he died a short time later. police have not indicated that they have found any motives in the case. investigators say they could make more arrests in the case of the 23-year-old man who policied as a high school student in harrisburg.
