man is under arrest in connection with a body discovered on the side of the road in bucks county. and the cleanup continues after strong winds in the area yesterday. but the big story on "action news" is a police officer shot in the line of duty. the officer came under attack while investigating an unsolved murder in allentown and police say the situation turned violent without warning last night. walter perez is live at the scene with the latest on the officer's condition. >> reporter: well, rick we can tell you that the officer suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm but we are pleased to tell you he was treated and released this morning from the hospital. but the suspect remains in the hospital. officers are coming and going from the apartment over the last couple of hours. the scene that unfolded is connected to the discovery of a woman's body in a recycling bin a couple of blocks away. a police officer was shot while serving a warn to a man on north godfrey. >> the individual inside after a brief standoff, he had been secured and transported to lehigh valley hospital for treatment. >> reporter: meanwhile it turns out the warrant is linked to the case involving a woman found in a recycling bin a few days ago. the lehigh valley coroner only confirmed that the woman died from gunshot wounds. we spoke with a neighbor who didn't want to be identified who said that last night's scene unfolded after investigators started to knock on several doors along the block. >> he said did you hear a scream and we said no, and then all of a sudden the three shots a few minutes later, the shots were fired and i didn't know nothing else because they came and knocked on the door again and told us we had to leave, you novak know, evacuate the building and we left. >> reporter: found along a road in bucks county. stephanie mansion was found dead on mill road in bensalem. police say that finnegan put her body there, and he is charged with abuse of a corpse and is held at the correction facility. the power is coming back on after the cleanup from yesterday's storms around the region. in gloucester high winds ripped off rooftops and damaged trees. the scoreboard at gloucester high school was knocked down and in mantua a tree smashed on to the roof of this home and the wind may have pushed over two tractor trailers on the walt whitman bridge, at one points pseg breaking into a dozen businesses in south jersey, 35-year-old christopher weldon and sabreina givens have been charged with burglary and attempted burglary in five counties. they robbed convenience stores and gas stations since december 7th. in each case they say they pried the doors or broke the glass. officers gathered near the intersection of bath and buckley street moments after it happened of the afternoon and i want to point out that in the poconos after 4:00 there is a chance of a little snow shower possible popping through because of a weak feature passing through to the north and between 4:00 and 8:00 it may try to filter down to berks county and it looks like low impact stuff if you are driving down late today or early this evening, keep an eye on the roads in case anything happens to coat. i doubt that is the case temperatures are well above freezing and this doesn't look like a lot of snow. 43 is the high there and down the shore we can't rule down a peek of sunshine. you had some earlier but mainly cloudy and 45 is the high there. a bit of a breeze and philadelphia a high of 44 over the next couple of hours, and clouds mixing with potential sunshine and northwest late in the day and this evening well up to the north there is a possibility of a snow shower. winds run 8 to 16 miles per hour so nothing like the blustery winds yesterday but on the breezy side. 43 by 4:00 for your evening commute and by 5:00 down to 42 and we slip into the 30s by 6:00 and overnight tonight we keep sliding down to 27 degrees for an overnight low and it's a bit breezy and wins from the northwest will keep us cool tomorrow. high pressure gets closer so we'll get more sunshine but still far enough away we get the flow from the northwest and that brings in cooler air and
