>> also college basketball coach with ties to the delaware valley is celebrating a big win this morning. uconn women's basketball got its own 100th straight win. >> first up, weather and traffic on this valentine's day with david and karen much good morning. >> good morning, everybody. we're off to a rather chilly start. take a look at satellite. we've got some high thin cloud cover that's beginning to push over the region and it looks like that will be with us through most of the morning, no the that wnot that we can't e sun. later this afternoon it will get brighter. temperatures currently 29 trees in philadelphia, 27 in wilmington, 24 in allentown. one nice change as you look at these cold morning numbers, the winds aren't nearly as strong. they're in the single digits across the region so that strong wind problem we had yesterday no longer an issue today. here's where numbers are going. 28 degrees by 7 o'clock. by noon, 40. and by 3 o'clock, 46 degrees. that's going to your high today, several degrees better than yesterday and with less wind it will be a lot more comfortable. notice how we break out some sunshine in the afternoon, too. by 5 o'clock 42. if you have plans to head out tonight maybe on a date 7 o'clock temperature 39 so you will want coats and maybe some extra gear there. karen rogers, we fluctuate with those temperatures over the next couple days but still looking at a nice weekend warmup. details on that coming up from accuweather. your roads are looking okay. >> yeah, we're off to a pretty good start. i mean they're dry and clear, no weather related problems. we're starting to see a little more volume, though. this is i-95 at allegheny. that's your southbound traffic headed towards center city starting to get a little slow from allegheny to girard. as you look at the travel times you can tell it's no big delay just yet. let's take a look at the vine street expressway. a little heavier volume at times westbound as you head towards the schuylkill expressway. no overnight construction last night but crews will return again wednesday night and thursday night. those are the nights they're scheduled to shut the vine down so watch for that one. on the big picture a couple of issues here. in south philadelphia we've got this water main break. traffic just kind of squeezing by on 20th street at oregon avenue and also still the downed tree and wires in lower merion wynnewood road at city avenue. it's blocked. stick to lancaster avenue as your alternate for that one and that shot is not looking too good on the garden state parkway. you did have an accident there so watch for that one in egg harbor township on the parkway northbound. we've got an accident blocking a lane. meanwhile 42 is looking pretty good with no delay just yet. matt and tam. >> oh, thank you, karen. developing news. resigned overnight amid concerns he had improper contact with the russian ambassador and was not truthful with vice president mike pence about it. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live now in our satellite center with what flynn is saying about this resignation. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning tam l he said he gave vice president mike pence incomplete information about his calls with russia's ambassador to the united states. the now for former national security adviser said he did not discuss sanctions with the russian envoy but later said the issue may have come up. thlast week the justice department warned the white house flynn could be in a compromised position after intelligence officials picked up recordings of conversations as part of routine monitoring and claimed they knew it to be true that flynn had discussed sanctions. president trump named retired lieutenant general keith kellogg as acting national security adviser in the interim. now reactions are coming out of russia. in fact the chairman of russia's senate foreign affairs commission is calling this anti-russian paranoia. as for other and possible replacements president trump is also considering former cia director david petraeus and also vice admiral robert harward who is a u.s. navy s.e.a.l. for now reporting live in who has less than a year left as governor has dodged the question of whether he would serve in the trump administration after his term is up if he was asked. the governor has said he will not speculate and plans to work in the private sector. the nature of the meeting between the two men has not been made public but this does come in the middle of lots of reports that more changes could be coming among east wing staff. >> a bedridden woman was killed in a house fire in philadelphia's frankford section. the flames broke out on the 5300 block of akron street yesterday afternoon. flames were shooting from the second floor when firefighters arrived. a grandmother in her 60's never made it out alive. >> it was a fire coming out from the mother-in-law's room so i came out of the house, ran around and the husband, the wife and the son made it out. >> no one else was hurt in this fire. the fbi and philadelphia police are looking for three men who took over a beneficial bank at gunpoint. this happened at the branch in germantown yesterday morning. the robbers threatened employees and took off with a fourth person who was not captured on surveillance. no one was hurt in this robbery. police recovered a gun at pemberton high school in burlington county yesterday. the weapon was discovered inside a student's backpack shortly after lunchtime. the superintendent says no live ammunition was found and there was no immediate threat. police have not said why the student had the gun or if charges will be filed. >> where is the love? trends suggest if you think you're getting investors continue to buy on optimism for corporate tax reform and more pro growth policies out of washington. futures pointing to a lower open. index of producer prices due out today and janet yellen will testify on monetary policy on capitol hill. apple moves a step closer to wireless charging for iphones. they've joined the wireless power consortium a industry group pushing a wireless charging less wind. storm tracker6 live double scan shows us that we're dry. as we take a look outside we have much more tranquil conditions out there, the camera is not shaking as we focus on the airport as winds are much lighter. it is cold this morning, though. so, you will want the coat stepping outside. 29 degrees in philadelphia to start out. 27 degrees in wilmington. 27 in trenton, 24 in allentown, 25 in reading, 23 in millville and phil cape may. again, winds running in the single digits this morning, big change there. we are looking at some high cloud cover streaking in right now and it looks like that will be with us through the morning and perhaps into the early afternoon before we break out the full sunshine again. but there's a possibility that the sun gets through those high clouds a little bit even through the morning. up in the lehigh valley we'll say sun, some clouds overall. less wind and a.m. milder high of 43 degrees so feeling a lot more comfortable up in the lehigh valley today. same story at the shore. less wind, sun mixing with some occasional clouds a milder high of 48 and then in philadelphia we'll take yesterday's windy high of 42, throw it in the trash can and how about 46 degrees with less wind today? it will feel a lot more comfortable, sun, some clouds, winds only running about seven to 14 miles per hour. if you are headed out for a valentine's night, maybe for dinner and dinner an movie, 44 y 4 o'clock, 40 by 6 o'clock. in the evening hours we spend it in the 30. not windy tonight but cold and you'll want coats and a little extra gear. 37 by 8 o'clock and down to 34 degrees by midnight tonight. overnight tonight we sit on about 34 degrees increasing clouds overnight. winds out of the south very light at five to 10 miles per hour. tomorrow we're splitting the difference between a couple of storm systems. one will miss us to the north the other pretty much misses us to the south. we'll start out with some clouds in the morning and maybe the shore gets caught with a little sprinkle briefly early but then sun reemerges in the afternoon as these systems move away from us. it's breezy but a little bit milder with a high of 49. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast shows a high this afternoon of 46. sun, a few occasional clouds, probably a little brighter later today. and then clouds to sun on wednesday, a high of 49. now behind those systems that depart with that cloud cover on wednesday afternoon, on thursday, we will see the temperatures drop. 39 is the high and it will be pretty windy again, not as bad as yesterday but pretty blustery on thursday with wind chills in the 20's. on friday though mostly sunny, getting better, 44 degrees. and we're still looking at that nice mild bounceback for the weekend. on saturday, we'll go 57 degrees, 60 on sunday and not too far below that on monday, president's day, any kids who have the three day weekend off, boy, it's going to feel like a couple of months ago. >> crews out here, fire crews on the scene. we've got police on the scene and you see the flashing lights even up ahead as well so blocking the right lane, blocking the off-ramp. accident just happened a few minutes ago. we're watching live right now as some of the fire crews leave the scene. westbound on the vine street expressway here and that's near the ben franklin parkway. you want to watch for that. we're already jammed because of this westbound from eighth street to the ben franklin parkway. meanwhile on the big picture other issues going around. we have this water main break that's causing a problem in south philadelphia. twentieth street at oregon avenue, traffic's kind of squeezing by but they've already society up the barricades out there. so watch for that. some slowing on i-95 looking at now 36 miles an hour southbound near girard. that's about the only slowing on the map right now. let's go back here to our camera view. this is what it looks like in bensalem in bucks county. this is route one at the pennsylvania turnpike. we've been seeing a lot of extra volume here on route one because of the closure of the pennsylvania-new jersey turnpike connector bridge so you're really watching this in bucks county. you've been dealing with it and you're going to deal with it again today. egg harbor township we had a.m. accident on the garden state parkway northbound approaching route 30. it just cleared a second ago. it's only 29 degrees. it's colder than yesterday. 29 currently in philadelphia so it's chilly out there, a high of 46 today. it will be bright this afternoon, just some clouds and less wind than yesterday, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. still no word this morning on when nearly 200,000 people will be able to go back home in northern california. they were evacuated this weekend over concerns the oroville dam could breach. the dam currently remains intact but the emergency spillway is eroding so helicopters are continuing to drop more rocks into the damaged spillway this morning o the governor of california has declared a state of emergency. >> a north jersey woman had a heart felt reunion with the passerby who helped rescue her from an icy pond. she was on her way top work on sunday morning when she hit a patch of ice and plunged into this pond in hawthorne passaic county. done mcewen took off his boots and coat and jumped into the frigid water. a police officer also jumped in broke a car window's glass with his baton and together they pulled her out. >> i came out with not even a scratch. i'm just so thankful like it's just god, that's all i can say 'cause i don't know how else i came out of that. >> she says mcewen's comforting words helped keep her calm. >> ♪ >> happening today, the double murder case against former new england patriot player aaron hernandez is set to get under way. hernandez is charged with murdering two men back in 2012. hernandez already faces life behind bars for the killing of fellow "action news" reporter katherine scott is live now in dillworth park with details on the love statue and where it's going. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tamala. you know what they say absence makes the heart grow fonder so the love statue will be moving tomorrow from its temporary spot at dillworth park but today you still have a chance to come see it. you can grab your valentine, come on down here to dillworth park, maybe take a skate with your sweety at the rothman rink and then come admire the statue and snap a picture before it goes away for a few months. about a year ago the love statue moved to dillworth park from its home in love park. it was a short move but it was a delicate operation. they needed to move the statue in order for the city to embark on its multi-million dollar renovation of love park. the new park will have more greenery, there's going to be a restaurant in the welcome center, the fountain pool will be gone but the water jet will return and the love statue will take its place slightly away from the fountain but before they put it in place in its new home, the statue will be stripped down, spruced up and restored. so the new love park is expected to open this spring, so if tomorrow somebody asked you baby, berks where did our love go, you can say don't worry it just went to be restored. happy valentine's day. katherine scott, we've got no precipitation out there. checking the great outdoors and they are a little bit better this morning with less wind. take a look at sky6, for example. and you can see boy pretty picture with the oranges and the yellows in the sky, we are getting some sunrise this morning. you notice there are some high clouds that have filtered through but as i've been saying this morning i think we'll get some sun through these high thin clouds today. and then most of those high clouds will have a tendency to scoot on out of here a little later in the afternoon. temperature right now is 29 degrees. it is coat weather. the winds only at 6 miles per hour so unlike yesterday when we were talking about look out with the strong blustery winds, you don't have that today. there are the clouds coming in. probably look a little bit worse on this satellite image than what they look from the ground up because they are high and thin and again probably some sunshine breaking through as long as those clouds are around. other part of the story, well, winds down, temperatures up a few degrees, higher than yesterday. so it's a pretty nice afternoon to go out and do stuff. 28 degrees by 8 o'clock, 33 by 10 o'clock, noon 40 and a lot of sun by 3 o'clock with a high of 46 degrees before we slide back to 40 degrees by 6 o'clock. your high temperatures across the region, a little cooler up north, 43 in allentown, 44-degree readings in trenton and reading. if you're down at the shore a little better, 48 degrees in atlantic city and cape may. if you're headed out this evening for a valentine's day date, dinner, movie something like that 44 degrees in the afternoon at 4 o'clock. as you are dashing to the flower store at the last minute because you forgot to buy flowers and a card guys, and by 6 o'clock 40 degrees and by 8 o'clock 37. do bring a winter coat tonight as we're going to get down to 35 as soon as 10 o'clock. clear skies, no rain, light winds but cold tonight. and then tomorrow we've got a feature to the north, another one to the south and we're caught in between and it's not a bad place to be tomorrow. we're going to miss the precipitation from this one. this guy down here might just clip the shore with an early morning shower. otherwise it's clouds to sun, breezy tomorrow but milder with a high of 49. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, today 46, not a bad valentine's day t tomorrow 49 with sun reemerging in the afternoon and then behind those systems as they depart the coast, windy and colder on thursday a high of 39 degrees with wind chills in the 20's but the winds die down again on friday. we get lots of sun and a high of 44. and that weekend mild spell still looks like it's on track and it still looks like it's going to last at least through maybe four, five days. we're going 57 degrees on saturday, 60 on sunday, 58 on president's day monday. that's a nice three day weekend if your kids have off and tuesday i'm still thinking avenue to girard. we've got police and a vehicle off to the side and that is actually blocking the right lane. that has been slowing things down as police just leave. now you see traffic starting to move as that accident is in the process of clearing right now but slow on i-95. we'll check that big accident on the vine street expressway coming up. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> well, well, well. sky6 giving us ross bridge we had an accident that just cleared and you see that southbound traffic pretty heavy past cottman to girard, so i-95 slowing down. we had a big accident on the vine street expressway westbound and it was blocking the off ramp to the ben franklin parkway. it is just cleared so now we could see we're slow on the westbound vine from eighth street to the ben franklin parkway but that accident is cleared so watch for that right now. on the big picture in south philadelphia, we've got this water main break 20th street at oregon avenue and traffic is just kind of squeezing by it so be careful in that area, take you a little longer. here we're seeing those slow speeds on i-95 southbound at times 15 miles an hour that shot i showed you really showed that near bridge street and the schuylkill not too terrible, about 31 miles an hour as you're traveling westbound near bala cynwyd, 38 miles an hour eastbound near girard. let's go check a couple of other issues. we've had a few accidents just pop up. here's one in horsham on county line road at cull and road. another problem in upper pottsgrove township a disabled vehicle on the right lane on the ramp from route 100 hundred northbound to farmington avenue so watch for a lane being blocked there on that ramp. route 42 not looking too bad coming from deptford or turnersville, just a little slow and you see no weather related problems. we saw that beautiful sunrise. 29 degrees, it is cold out there, though. the afternoon will be nice, rather bright and a high of 46, matt. >> thanks karen. a smoky fire at disneyland's main parking structure burned eight cars and injured seven people. it happened at the mickey and friends parking structure in anaheim, california yesterday. seven disney employees were the ones who were treated for smoke inhalation. hundreds of park visitors and employees were stuck outside the structure for about two hours. authorities have not given a cause for the blaze but they do not suspect foul play. disney is the parent company of 6abc. a funeral home in memphis, tennessee is offering drive through services. visitors can pay their final respects without leaving their vehicles. though it might sound insensitive the owner of r. bernard funeral home insists his intention is the exact opposite. he says he's trying to appeal to families overwhelmed by the painful
