him including that he was a newlywed. >> accuweather a tracking the coldest blast of arctic air this season. jack frost is creeping towards the delaware and lehigh valleys. uh-oh. >> first up dave murphy is outside. he'll tell you how it feels to be out there and karen rogers is taking a look at your roads. good morning. >> it already feels pretty chilly out here on the terrace. i want to start you with storm tracker6 live double scan. we got a fairly good dose of rain overnight but most of it is gone now. there is however some low lying cloud cover and you may see some sprinkles falling out of the low lying clouds and maybe some drizzle on the windshield. the last of the affect tiff showers appears to be drying up over burlington county, new jersey. the wide view shows you more clouds to the west but we expect to break out from under these clouds a little bit later today and get at least some sunny breaks. 41 degrees is your currents temperature. there's a little bit of a breeze blowing so it is definitely a morning for coats again. 38 degrees in allentown and up in the poconos we were expecting a winter weather advisory to expire right around now but we have will some freezing drizzle up there and i'm looking at a temp of 32 so i would be careful if you're driving around up towards the poconos for another hour or so. 41 degrees by 7 o'clock. 43 by 10 o'clock. 45 by noon. probably pretty cloudy during the morning with those sprinkles dying away. and then by 3 o'clock a high of 50 with some sun coming back hopefully and 43 degrees by 6 o'clock. we have colder air coming in for the end of the week karen. more on that coming up in the seven day. what about roads right now? >> you showed us those temps. the roads are just wet and not icy but it doesn't matter it's a full-fledged mess out there with accidents everywhere. schuylkill expressway eastbound at montgomery drive an accident here and now you can see this traffic really jammed as you head towards center city. you're heavy from past the boulevard to past montgomery. the accident has been blocking the right lane. emergency workers on the scene. so some slow speeds down top 7 miles an hour at this hour on the schuylkill expressway. we had another accident on the schuylkill earlier that is cleared and also here on the big picture we've got an accident in bala cynwyd on rockhill road at route 23 so police are on the scene with that one as well. taking you over here, this is the ramp from woodhaven road to i-95 southbound. we see police here. there's an accident with a vehicle that spun out facing the wrong way so that's causing a problem this morning on a ramp nonetheless. live in new jersey look at 42. i mean you're just hardly moving. at this hour you're usually flying by. 42 northbound jammed solid at this point. we had an accident blocking now the two left lanes northbound past 295 and that's creating a big delay on 42 as well. one other new jersey accident is right on the turnpike northbound approaching exit 7a and they've got to do emergency construction because of this one. matt. >> thank you, karen. detectives are on the alert for a purse snatcher. they say the robber snatched a woman's handbag at a south philadelphia shopping center in broad daylight and then she tried to get it back. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at third street and oregon avenue and has video of the entire thing. annie. >> reporter: and matt this happened in the middle of the day in this busy parking lot outside of oregon market. there's also a bank here and several other stores and as you said, she tried to get her purse back and she was dragged for several feast well, take a look at this video that was released by south detectives in the hopes that somebody may recognize the vehicle. watch closely as the woman puts groceries in her trunk after shopping at the oregon market here in the 300 block of oregon avenue. police think that the thief stalked her as he circled the parking lot then watched as she put her purse in the passenger seat of her car while she's putting the groceries in the trunk that is when police say the thief struck, got her purse out of the passenger side and then she chased him. he jumped into his vehicle and then the -- victim stopped him and she was dragged before she fell off the car. this happened three weeks ago. police just released the video yesterday. they describe the suspect's vehicle as distinctive. they say there's a late model toyota highlander. now back out here live the woman was not seriously injured and police say that they do discourage people from going after thieves because they don't know if they could be armed or not. if millville when another carp crossed the grassy median and slammed into his cruiser killing them both. prior to becoming a state trooper williams had worked at the lowes in egg harbor township. bill warren jr. is williams' childhood friend. >> guys like me who didn't have people looking out for them he was the one that stepped up and looked out for us. he took care of us. he took us under his wing. >> investigators say the driver who plowed into williams was 61-year-old psychiatrist lloyd rudley of elmer. williams levers behind new wife who he just married two months ago. funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. >> green party nominee jill stein's petition for recount will get a hearing before a pennsylvania judge on friday. lawyers for stein for the commonwealth of pennsylvania and for donald trump will have 45 minutes to make their case. stein held a rally outside trump tower on monday and called pennsylvania's election system a national disgrace. she insisted hire open. reports on job openings and consumer credit are due out later today. seaworld cutting jobs after a major drop in attendance. more than 300 positions are going to be eliminated at the company's 12 theme parks including sesame place in middletown township. the job cuts are part of plan to cut costs by $65 million. attendance at seaworld parks was down by almost half a million people lot though. storm tracker6 live double scan you took a look at this early view on radar and you hardly see anything at all. there's a little batch here and there and i'll go in tighter on that in a second. let's get you outside. we got lots of cloud cover over the region and that would include the platt bridge in south philadelphia and low lying cloud cover you can kind of see some of that here in this picture and in some cases it's low enough to put some drizzle on the windshield. as for active showers we're almost done with these right there around wilmington you can see a little bit of that. a little more out near coatesville and just a speckled patch of precipitation. new jersey mainly dry. there's a little bunch of stuff just to the north of the a.c. expressway in atlantic city but where you don't see those little patches of green there is that chance of some drizzle so that's something to keep in mind during the morning commute. 38 degrees in allentown now, 38 in reading. up in the poconos closer to the freezing mark and there has been some freezing drizzle up there. if you're plan on getting up there in the next hour or so careful of that. 41 degrees in philadelphia, run in wilmington, 42 currently in millville, 44 cape may. no icing in our immediate region. too warm for. that by 9:30 there might be a couple sprinkles and showers getting out of here but it does look like those end pretty quickly this morning and by later this afternoon there's the chance that we'll actually break up those clouds and return some sunshine into play. up in the lehigh valley mostly cloudy overall though. chilly, 48 is all you'll see on the thermometer. down the shore getting up to about 50 this afternoon, mostly cloudy a bit on the breezy side. winds only running about seven to 14 miles per hour today. that's not enough to knock the hat off your head but adds to that little chilly feel. ocean temperature 47 for the purpose those of you getting the wet suits on. probably not many but maybe a couple. 50 degrees is the high in philadelphia, mostly cloudy and chilly and winds out of the northwest at seven to 14. overnight tonight mainly cloudy and cold getting down 36 in philadelphia and similar numbers in the suburbs. winds out of the west at six to 12 miles per hour. and then tomorrow you know what, today with that high of 50 not much wind maybe it's a day to get outside and get the rest of the holiday lights set up or something like that because by tomorrow, you're looking at 45 for a high and in the afternoon and evening the winds will going to pick up making it feel even cooler. there's a chance of an isolated shower and then as we get into friday and saturday, highs around 40, wind chills in the 20's. the colder air is right around the corner. your exclusive accuweather 7-day t-visit is today's high mostly cloudy. 45 tomorrow, clouds, some sun a-late shower or sprinkle or even a flurry possible and then blustery and colds on friday a.c. expressway to 295 yeah jammed from 41 to past 295 where there's an accident blocking the two left lanes so that's the reason for this jam on route 42. you can take the black horse pike instead but then you have to sit through all those lights. not sure that would be a whole lot better. new jersey turnpike northbound approaching exit 7a we have this accident. they actually have to do emergency construction because of it so blocking the right lane another turnpike if you're heading northbound and blocking the entrance to the woodrow wilson service plaza so make sure you have gas if you're heading on the turnpike northbound. here's the schuylkill. we had two accidents this morning on the schuylkill. this is eastbound. we city emergency workers. some have left but they're blocking the right lane so eastbound schuylkill jammed past city avenue to past montgomery a 29 minute ride from the blue route to the vine and in bala cynwyd montgomery county rockhill road at conshohocken state road police are on the scene with that accident. a 19 minute ride on i-95 southbound, 29 minutes on the schuylkill eastbound from the blue route to the vine and again just had a live update 32 minutes now a-23 minute ride on the 42 northbound so really your majors are all jammed and also on the waze app we found a member of our 6abc team trolley talking about an accident on north side broad street near rockland street. watch for that. storm tracker showing most of the rain is out of here, just a little bit of drizzle, a brief shower here or there and that's it but the roads are already of the student center last night in college station to show their outrage over richard spencer's speak he know guage. spencer leads a white nationalist organization. campus police say two nonstudents were arrested. >> i mean it's his right to say what he wants but it's also our right to reject that type of message. >> a and m officials say they did not schedule spencer's speech. the university strongly rejected spencer's views but say as a public school they couldn't outright ban the events as perhaps a private school could have done a.m. former student invited spencer to speak and reserve campus space which is available to the public. >> new this morning a bill that would make ohio's abortion laws the strictest in the nation is on the way to governor john kasich's desk. lawmakers voted to approve the heartbeat belt after it passed in the ohio senate. the legislation would prohibit most abortions as early as six weeks in the pregnancy after the first defect tam heartbeat. the ban can and we're also getting word of an accident in camden that we're checking into on river road and federal street and it's involving a car and a train so details on that still just coming in. another new accident on 295 northbound approaching rancocas woods delran. the left lanely is blocked. it's now 37 miles an hour on 295 heading northbound there. on the schuylkill expressway our accident has cleared. two accidents on the schuylkill. they both cleared. eastbound traffic at montgomery drive still pretty heavy from city avenue to past montgomery. we have a 32 minute ride eastbound between the blue route and the vine. a new accident in pottstown. route 100 northbound at shoemaker road. also an accident on the ramp from woodhaven road eastbound to i-95 southbound. a vehicle ran off the roadway that were facing the wrong way. wondering if they're blocking traffic at the moment accident lab out here awhile but i'm seeing even more emergency workers. hard to z even more emergency claimed another life in bucks county. falls township police responded to yet another overdose death last night. that makes five deaths in just lever days in the community. police say two people who were with the victim are now in custody. it is unclear if the dark and stormy conditions led to this deadly pedestrian crash in camden county. a pickup truck struck an elderly man along the 400 block of south black horse pike in blackwood at 6:00 p.m. the impact left the victim's items scattered on the highway even on the roof of the striking vehicle. the driver remained at the scene. farther north in new jersey it was cold enough for snow. drivers were dealing with slush and lightly covered roads in randolph morris county. temperatures are expected to dip below freezing in that community tonight. >> all right. time now to talk about just how cold it's going get in these parts. >> yeah, we are looking at a chill coming in. poconos got some snow last night too and a little freezing drizzle this morning so be careful if you're driving in the poconos. storm track sticks life double scan shows that you most of the rain from overnight is gone. a quick look at the western suburbs and chester county still picking up a couple sprinkles and showers. same story in montgomery county and most that of in green you see around doylestown is grounds clutter on the radar. you have cloudy skies though and a lot of low lying clouds. even know where you don't see green on the radar there's the possibility of drizzle on the windshield this morning and that will probably be the case until maybe 9 o'clock, 10 o'clock this morning. 41 degrees in philadelphia, it's chilly as you step outside. even though the winds are only running at 8 miles per hour, you feel it when the wind starts to moving once again right here on the ramp from woodhaven road eastbound to i-95 southbound. we still see a lot of emergency workers with this accident where the vehicle was facing the wrong way. i'm going have details on an accident with a car and a train when "action news" comes right back. >> ♪ >> we're looking at jammed traffic wherever you go. really a lot of accidents but check out this. a 51 minute ride now on 42 northbound. that is a huge delay. almost an hour. oftentimes it's 12, 15 minutes. 51 minutes from the a.c. expressway to 295. so, 42 northbound is extra heavy because of an accident that's up ahead and was block the two left lanes past 295. it's now on the shoulder but big delays right now on 42. other problems in new jersey, near camden we've got river avenue near federal street an accidents here with a car and a river line train so this is causing problems on the roads there at river avenue and federal street. and also the river line is currently suspended because of that. and that's between 36th street and the walter rand transportation center so just coming in an accident way car and a river line train causing problems on the roads there as well as the rails so that's tannish camden right now with our breaking news. in burlington county 295 northbound approaching rancocas woods we've got an accident here as well. 26 miles an hour near that accident scene as it blocks the left lane so that's causing slowing. on the schuylkill expressway we had two earlier accidents eastbound so that eastbound now a 30 minute ride between the blue route and the vine but all lanes at least have reopened n pottstown an accident here. 100 north of northbound at shoemaker road. one in sumneytown mike upper gwynedd. nothing more than a couple showers that are going move through. most of the rain is out of here but it's just that the roads are wet and we've got problems everywhere. they're just wet and not icy but nonetheless slow it down. >> will do. bethlehem pa. it happened at city hall plaza early sunday morning. she was also seen walking a dog and driving off in a dark car believed to be a saturn i eye on. the jesus statue later found in bethlehem township. police say an incoherent note was way it. >> a north jersey woman is speaking out after losing her son. alex ghassan was with his fiancée at a dance party. this is some of the last
