tracking your turkey travel weather. will it gobble up the time spending get to your thank giving feast? will backups on the roads ruffle your feathers? we'll see, right? >> all right. well, you keep the thanksgiving analogies going. >> the only thing ruffling your feathers today weather-wise is the cold temperature this morning. the winds are down which is nice. i'll talk about that more in a moment. let's go ahead and get you to satellite. you can see how we're going to get plenty of sunshine to start out today and then patchy clouds beginning to develop. later today it gets cloudier tonight and then it's cold new york. 34 degrees in philadelphia and still below freezing in trenton, allentown, reading, lancaster, wilmington, millville, atlantic city airport almost everywhere so bundle up. but at least we don't have real strong wind chills because winds are in the single digits across moisture of the region and light so that's good. as we go through the day t-sunshine by 7 o'clock. but still winter coat weather with a temperature of 33. and still on the 30's at 10:00 and then at noon 43 and getting better later this afternoon. we'll have a few more clouds streaking in but 49 degrees for a high at 3 o'clock and back to 43 at 6:00. still looks like we're going to be cloudy on thanksgiving with some spotty showers around. will that potentially hinder the parade in the morning? i'll have details on that coming up in that exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. karen. >> all right dave. so warm up the car 'cause it's cold out there and you may have a little frost in spots like i d looking live on the vine street expressway the overnight construction is cleared. westbound, eastbound moving just fine on the vine with no delays. we only had one accident in the suburbs and it just cleared as well so traffic moving better here in delaware county on sixth street no longer a problem. parade preps will close down eakins oval today from 9:30 until 3:00 and then then gibbs:30 this evening until 10 o'clock. you'll see all the dancer out there getting ready and they'll be shutting it down to traffic so give yourself a little extra time in that area. if you're heading out on this thanksgiving eve you can see pennsylvania turnpike showing in the clear, the green traffic flow. you can see 64, 67 miles an hour, no problem there. if you're in gloucester county about the to hop onto the new jersey turnpike and head up through camden and burlington counties up towards north jersey or new york you're also traveling in the 60's so far and if you're about to head out towards the airport this is a live look at i-95 near the airport showing light volume to start you off. matt and tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. and let's keep talking about thanksgiving and travel because lots of people have decided this is the year to hit the road for turkey day. you may well be among them as millions pack the roads and airports. let's hope grandma's pie and stuffing was worth your while. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at philadelphia international airport and katherine, when we first checked in with you this morning it was a little quiet. that's not case any longer. >> reporter: there's been a lot of hustle and bustle here at the airport this morning with everybody heading out of town for the thanksgiving holiday. we're at the security checkpoint between terminals d and e and you can see there's been a pretty steady line throughout the morning and we are starting to see a little bit more volume. the t.s.a. recommends that if you're flying domestic it's good to be at the airport up to two hours before your flight because as it's busy now, it's just going to get busier as it gets later. aaa midatlantic estimates more than half a million philadelphia area residents will travel 50 miles or more away from home today through sunday. nationally that number stands at 49 million. that's the most since 2007. most will travel by car. 9 percent will travel by air. philadelphia's one of the top 10 travel destinations this weekend so not only are people leaving from here for their holiday but they're flocking to it. travelers we spoke to are keeping that in mind and leaving extra time. >> i haven't been asleep since yesterday morning so i take advantage when i get on the plane i go to sleep but, yeah, definitely earlier is better 'cause as everybody starts waking up everything is going to be out of control. >> reporter: did you get here early. >> yeah and then we always get the pret.s.a. approved. the line is shorter. you don't have to remove your shoes so it's easier. >> reporter: and back here live where folks are heading through security it's always a good idea to be early. today it's an even better idea. the faa is not reporting any problems here and we're standing right by a number of departure boards and so far we're seeing a lot of on time departures so good luck to all you travelers today. get to your destinations safely is. we are live at phl katherine scott channel6 "action news. >> good to hear. thank you katherine. now amtrak is bracing for big crowds ahead of the thanksgiving holiday. the action cam is live inside 30th street station which still doesn't look all that busy right now. amtrak does say that thanksgiving is its busiest time of year. it expects 750,000 passengers to use rail services to get to and from their destination. that means every car amtrak owns will be hitting the tracks this weekend. >> we always remind folks to get to the station early, no need to rush and end up getting on the wrong train or something like that. you know, so leave plenty of extra time, get here get the lay of the land make sure you know where you're going. >> extra trains will operate along the northeast corridor from nyc to d.c. >> ♪ >> and breaking right now, one person has been injured by fire in chester county. the flames broke out around 2:30 this morning on the 1300 block of old phoenixville pike in west white land township. crews say the house was packed full of items making it difficult to fight the fire. the situation is now under control. the victim is being treated for smoke inhalation and is also now in stable condition. right now two women are behind bars in bucks county accused of helping two brothers rob a levittown pizza shop with deadly consequences. the action cam was there right after chasity ramos and robin soto were formally arraigned on robbery and conspiracy charges. soto was the mother of accused robber sean and justin rose and ramos is justin's pregnant girlfriend. prosecutors say both women scoped out porfirio's pizza five minutes before last tuesday's attempted robbery. a customer shot both men killing sean and seriously wounding justin. the surviving brother was in critical condition but has been improving is that now talking. >> the election of donald trump has clearly had a positive impact on wall street at least in the short term. maribel aber is live at the nasdaq in times square with more on this turkey day rally. maribel. >> reporter: good morning matt. stocks closed at a record high for the second day in a row with the dewpoint topping the 19,000 level for the first time. the dow's climb and overall rally is due to investors betting president-elect trump will have a more business friendly white house. futures pointing looks like now a mixed open. reports on durable goods new home since its minutes from the last federal reserve meeting are all due tout out today. toyota recalling more than 700,000 sienna minivans in the u.s. due to a problem with sliding doors. they said the issue could result in a sliding door opening while the car is in motion. the siennas recalled are from the years 2011 to 2016. do it toyota declined to say whether the defects has been linked to any accidents injuries or deaths. make sure you read the fine print on some of those department store promotions. some big name brands want to be excluded from the sales in an effort to get control of the pricing of their product. wall street journal reports michael course and levi strauss are among the lines that prefer not to be included in store wide promotions sump as friends and family sales. department store executives say many of the brands demanding to be excluded have their own stores and they want better control that of pricing. matt and franklin bridge. notice how the camera is not shaking this morning as the winds as promised are subsiding is. we've got single digit winds across most of the region this morning. that's nice. 34 degrees in philadelphia, though, so coat appropriate weather certainly maybe some of that extra gear. below freezing in trenton allentown reading lancaster wilmington, millville. 39 degrees in cape may. little bit milder next to that milder ocean water. and satellite shows that you it will be a morning for shades on highways and byways once that sun comes up because we don't have a lot of cloud cover around. some of this cloud cover will manage to start to filter in later in the day and tonight we'll get mostly cloudy although most of the precipitation that you see out to the west of us is going to wind up falling apart and that will be more of an issue overnight up in the poconos. up in the lehigh valley sun, some clouds, less wind, 48 degrees the high. down the shore looks like we'll get into the low 50's in some spots, ac51, not as windy, sun mixing with some eventual clouds and in philadelphia morning sun, sharing the skies this afternoon with some afternoon clouds. less wind, 49 the high. there are the winds, only about seven to 14 miles per hour so no more of those gusts up in the 30's and 40's. that will be nice to get kind of a break from that. if you are traveling or receiving guests later today at 2 o'clock this is what it's going to look like up to boston maine. dry conditions chilly and it looks like we're dry all the way down to about savannah georgia where there could be some light sprinkles and showers later today. the big issue will be up in the midwest where there are some showers coming through and maybe even a couple of pockets of light snow up in minneapolis, parts of wisconsin and maybe northern michigan. all of this will be moving east, too, so at 2 o'clock detroit will start to get some of this cleveland maybe a little bit after that so something to keep in mind and of course if you're flying in those areas maybe a delay, maybe not. overnight mostly cloudy, a late sprinkle is possible. this is mainly up to the north, though. 38 the overnight low in philadelphia. some of our northern suburbs will get down to about the freezing mark, though, so if you do happen to get a sprinkle up in, say, northern bucks, montgomery county, the lehigh valley, berks, places like that, it could freeze up on road surfaces. i think the chances of you seeing anything are pretty small but if it happens and you're driving around you see something that looks wet slow it down. here is that overnight precipitation. most of it snow and mixed precip up in the poconos, though. it would be an issue if you're going up there. then on thursday in the morning, cloudy skies to start out for the parade. looks like by the end of the parade at noon there could be some sprinkles and showers moving in and certainly possible during the walk back to the dar or the rain to so keep an umbrella handy down at the parade in all likelihood. we'll update you tomorrow morning and then the rest of the day into the evening it's light real spotty showers. for the parade itself temps in the low 40's at the start, upper 40's at the end and the winds will be light so these balloon guys will fly. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast going for that high of 49 today with sun eventually mixing with a few clouds, less wind. tomorrow clouds, not very windy but some spotty showers around, 52. and then clouds with a few sunny breaks on friday 56 and there's the chance of a shower late in the day or at night. then on saturday sunny breaks breezy looks like we're dry 54 the high. not a bad saturday. temple game at night at lincoln financial field looks dry look at your accuweather and karen rogers is helping on this big day for commuters. on. >> for now we're starting out on the cold side. take a look at satellite. we are in the process of seeing a lot of sun emerge over the horizon. that will happen in a little bit and then a few more clouds digging in as the day goes on. more clouds tonight. but for now despite the clear conditions and less wind than yesterday we are still looking pretty cold. 34 degrees in philadelphia as you step outside. and still below freezing in trenton, allentown, reading, lancaster the mid-20's. 29 degrees in wilmington. we've been fluctuating down in millville. 21 is the latest reading and 38 degrees in cape may. fortunately nine winds are down as promised only about a 6 miles per hour breeze. standing up here on the terrace which is kind of elevated above the surface almost feels like it's occasionally stronger than but not nearly as windy as yesterday. sunshine early but cold. 33 by 7 o'clock. still in the 30's by 10 o'clock. but by noon 43. and then by 3 o'clock a few more clouds gathering but 49 degrees for a high. not too bad and by 6 o'clock we're back down 43 degrees, again not all that windy. tomorrow does look cloudy and there will be some spotty showers. you might want to bring along an umbrella to the parade. i'll show you future tracker6 and we'll talk about how those showers are going to work their way in coming up. >> and not thrilled about the showers but it's not too bad either. all right, let's head outside right now. we are dry today at least and the busy traffic day. looking at 422 eastbound busier here because of an accident. you can now see penndot has got the arrow board out. they're blocking the left lane so this is jamming up traffic 422 eastbound at 23 watch for that left lane being blocked. on the big picture also new accident on the schuylkill expressway and you see the 17 miles an hour ahead of it. it's the schuylkill expressway westbound an accident at gladwyne is just been pushed offer to the shoulder so we're seeing some extra slow westbound speeds right there. also i-95 your usual delays 18 miles an hour southbound at cottman. not too bad at girard, 43 miles an hour. eakins oval they already have the parade preps. closures start at 9:30 this morning. it will be closed until 3 o'clock in the afternoon then it shuts down again tonight at 6:30 until 10 o'clock for the big parade preps. if you're headed out of town about to take the pennsylvania turnpike, looking pretty good at this point on the turnpike with speeds in the 60's. it gets busier waze is telling us by about 10:00 a.m. for travel so you want to travel early if you're heading out for thanksgiving. you might want to head out now. new jersey turnpike also in there. >> reporter: yes, we're starting to see a lot more people and so far so good as far as the departures. faa not reporting any problems here at phl. a lot of on time departures at this hour. for passenger volume r we've had pretty busy days in the last year and a half in philadelphia when we had the dnc here and the papal visit the year before. it's nothing we're not used to here in be a little less familiar with the airport it might take them a little bit more time but there are people here to help. the t.s.a. recommends if you're flying domestic it's good to be at the airport right. thank you, matt. new this morning, gunfire wounds two people inside a home in delaware. it happened in the 100 block of patrice drive in the glasgow court trailer park. the gunman shot an 18-year-old female in the chest an 23-year-old man in the side. the victims are in critical condition. no arrests have been made. and the investigation into the center city envelope bombing is still going on this morning. police say they're not ruling anybody out not even the person who was in the house with the victim when that package exploded. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live where this all went down at 18th and pine with the very latest on what we know this morning. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning tam l investigators say this was not a random act and that the victim was the intended target. now, according to sources among the people that they're looking into includes somebody who knows both the victim and his partner. well, this is a picture of the victim who does remain in the hospital, 60-year-old jim alden. now, the man believed to be the intended target of the explosion. it was yesterday at 4:00 a.m. in the 1800 block here of pine that alden opened a package in an envelope addressed to him at his home. atf agents say when he opened it detonated a bomb. investigators describe this as a sophisticated device something not normally seen here but investigators think that this is a domestic situation and not a situation of terrorism. they are now questioning several people. >> obviously there are multiple facets including but not limited to the other person that was in the apartment. as well as anybody else that may have been connected even loosely to it. >> we're kind of running a number of leads down and it's important for the integrity of the investigation to try to maintain that. >> reporter: now, alden is a caterer in the city. he does live here with his 32-year-old partner who we're told was home at the time. alden does remain in the hospital with serious injuries. he suffered injuries to his face, torso and also his left hand. that is the hand that was holding the envelope when he did open it. now, along with philadelphia police, the atf, fbi and postal inspector are also part of this investigation. for now reporting live in rittenhouse, annie mccormick reports haley is expected to accept later today. the associated press reports that trump has formally offered a cabinet post to ben carson. the retired neurosurgeon who said he doesn't feel prepared to run an entire government agency is now a contender for a secretary of housing and urban development. carson who ran for president this year will consider the offer over the holiday and trump satellite showing you lots of sun coming up before too much longer. and then we get a little bit of patchy cloud cover as the day goes on. later tonight these thicker clouds will come in but most of that precipitation you see will fall apart and we'll that mainly up in the poconos. over the next 12 hours sunny but cold by 8 o'clock. 10 o'clock, 38. still sunny but chilly and then 43 by noon and by 3 o'clock maybe a few more clouds mixing in but a decent high for this time of year, 49 degrees. a little bit below average but with lighter winds it will feel better than the last couple days. by 5 o'clock 44 degrees and starting to cloud up a little bit more late in the day and this evening. 49 is your high in philadelphia and really not much of a range today. up in allentown 48. and down in cape may visit. that's about the warmest spot. and as we take a look at travel, whether you're headed were today or the day before thanksgiving or you're expecting relatives in later today, if you're going up to new york city and boston and beyond, green on the weather aspect of travel. of course there will be last cars out there and traffic but no weather related issues. same thing down richmond or west to pittsburgh. if you're going farther west on i80 to ohio and beyond to illinois we have a little caution for you because there's going to be some rain developing through the afternoon heading east into these areas and in places like wisconsin and minnesota perhaps a little bit of light snow. that's something to keep in mind if you're flying to those places too. in terms of around here by 9 o'clock not a lot going on just cloudy skies and by 11 o'clock there is the chance of a little snow or mixed precipitation up in the poconos so if you have plans to drive up there tonight or early tomorrow you'll want to be careful there. if we happen to manage a sprinkle in the lehigh valley northern buxmont company it could freeze up on surfaces but the model not showing anything like that happening. it's just something if it happens you'll want to slow it down. if you see anything wet on the road surfaces tomorrow morning slow it down. tomorrow morning at 8:30 getting ready for the parade cloudy skies but by the end of the parade there's the chance of some sprinkles and showers beginning to come in so maybe you bring an umbrella tomorrow just in case. after that it's just light spotty off and on precipitation straight through into tomorrow evening. for the parade tomorrow, low 40's in the beginning, upper 40's by noon. and light winds so the balloons will fly. that's on the new jersey turnpike southbound we've got a big accident. we're hearing it's involving an overturned dump truck blocking the right lane in the outer drives here, new jersey turnpike southbound at hyattstown as you're traveling southbound on the new jersey at that time watch for this. let's look at the travel times. so far i-95 and southbound a 19 minute ride wood rave to the vine. that's really good. no delays on the schuylkill expressway either and on 42 a good 10 minutes ride from the a.c. expressway to 295. on the waze app though i'm hearing of an accident on 295 northbound in bellmawr. this is a member of our 6abc team. reporting that so that's going to create in travel days on 42. this just happened so you may see those delays starting to kick in a little bit. also on the waze app they're giving you ideas of the best time to travel today. a lot of people may have off from work today but it starts to get busy at 10:00 a.m. you may think 10:00 a.m. is a better time. no, from 10:00 a.m. to the end of the day bad time to travel. you'll have more accidents, more problems on the roads, more people on the roads trying to travel for thanksgiving. 2 o'clock is the peak of the worst travel time. thursday great day. if you're not having dinner or right after dinner head home, friday no problem traveling. saturday avoid 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. so head out early after the in memory of the victims in chattanooga. six children are still in critical condition. the driver johnthony walker has been charged with vehicular homicide. according to police walker was driving the bus at "a high rate of speed" when it crashed. the ntsb says walker got his commercial license in april and was involved in another crash two months ago. there's been an arrest in connection way police shooting near a michigan college. a 29-year-old officer for wayne state university was investigating a possible car break in near campus when he was shot in the head last night. a k-9 led police to a person of interest who has been taken into custody on other outstanding warrants. the five year veteran of the department is the first wayne state officer to be shot while on duty. >>
