Lanes just beyond the exit ramp for lanes dale route 23. The crash involved three trucks. Were hearing one of them was possibly on fire. Were seeing a southbound gaper delay as well but its northbound where no traffic is getting through and chopper6 hd just arrived at the scene. There is the major accident in the northbound lanes of the northeast extension. What a mess. Look at all those trucks involved, one of them appears to be partially tipped over. You see a number of ambulances on the scene as well. This is northbound just beyond the exit ramp for lansdale. No northbound traffic is getting through between lansdale and quakertown. And you can see on the southbound side, those are the headlights off to the left side of your screen, the southbound side also has a delay passing this major accident in towamencin township montgomery county. So coming back out here you want to stay over on 309. No major problems. Of course youll be dealing with the traffic lights but 309 is going to be a much better bet than the northeast extension this morning. Well keep tabs on it keep watching that scene from chopper6 hd. Weve also been watching this for about an hour now, its a crash on the city avenue bridge. Southbound side approaching the schuylkill expressway taking some time to clear it out and there is a delay now on the southbound side of the lincoln drive coming off the drive getting onto the city avenue bridge headed toward the schuylkill and headed toward channel6 because the left side of the bridge is blocked with this accident. Aside from that on the big picture its not a bad morning so far on the schuylkill expressway or i95. Volume is just starting to build and over here on 42 in Gloucester City same situation some northbound taillights headed toward the walt whitman bridge. All the overnight construction has cleared out and we could be in worse shape here. Its the northeast extension thats a mess and david well have an update coming up in just a few minutes. What a mess up there on that northeast extension matt. All right. Well, were off to a chilly start across the region. Take a look at sat lie light. Looks like well probably wind up with a few early clouds. Overall we expect mostly sunny skies today. Temperatures are chilly though. We continue to dip in philadelphia down to 46 degrees. And mid 40s in reading Allentown Trenton and now in wilmington and millville as well. Down in cape may were down to 52 and theres a bit of a breeze blowing. This has been in the upper Single Digits across most of the region and occasionally getting up into the double digits. Were down to 9 Miles Per Hour now in philadelphia. Look for a blustery winds to build after sunrise, though. 44 degrees by 7 oclock. Thats where we think were going bottom out and then 48 degrees by 10 oclock. By noon, up to 52 but this afternoon will be cooler and windy with winds gusting over 30 Miles Per Hour at times. A high of just 57 around 3 oclock before dipping back to 52 by 6 00. Overnight tonight were down into the 30s across the region and a freeze warning has now been extended across the entire region north of Cape May County and north of the southern two counties in delaware. Its a freeze watch in those areas but that warning now includes philadelphia as well. Breaking right now two people in custody for ramming their car into a Police Vehicle and then attempting to run from the crash scene. The officers, though, involved were not seriously hurt. Reporter matt, thats right, two people are in custody, two of the officers were being evaluated because they were experiencing some pain but we are told that theyre going to be okay. Since we last spoke and in the last half hour or so they managed to clear away the two vehicles involved in this crash here at 11th and spencer in fern rock. Lets go to video so you can see the heavy front end damage. The suspects honda civic, you can he seal the air bags deployed in both of the vehicles. This happened shortly before 2 00 a. M. Police say this all startd when two officers tried to pull over a vehicle about a block away from here on the 6000 block of warnock street. As those officers approached the vehicle, the suspects took off in their civic. When the suspects got to 11th and spencer, there were two undercover officers in an unmarked car. They were responding to the call and were waiting at the stop sign for direction. Thats when the suspects slammed into the officers vehicle. Its unclear at this point if the suspects knew that they were undercover officers in that unmarked car. One of the suspects jumped out of the car and ran into some apartments nearby where he was caught. The other suspect was still in the car and taken into custody. And another thing, police say they found a large amount of narcotics in the suspects vehicle. Again, as we take a look here live you can see that 11th and spencer is opened right now. Developing this morning, hauling cows overturned in new castle delaware this crash happening around 9 30 last night. It closed the ramp from route 141 southbound to i295 northbound for hours overnight. It just reopened before 4 00 a. M. This morning. Now part of the problem is that crews had to actually offload the livestock from one truck to another. Not all of the animals survived but the driver of the truck was not hurt. Police say the way the trucks tires took a curve caused the load to shift and that caused the vehicle to flip. Police are still looking for a man who drove off in a womans car with her child still inside. The action cam was there as police reunited the mother with her young son. They say the woman stopped to use an atm at a Wells Fargo Branch in mayfair and the man jumped into her car and sped off with her sixyearold in the back seat. Moments later the man pulled over abandoning the car and the little boy still inside. The manhunt continues at this hour. This is the northbound northeast extension about at least four tractortrailers got into an accident. You see them lined up there along the road. This is near the lansdale exit up there in towamencin and this has all the lanes northbound on the northeast extension shut down. We see he emergency vehicles out there but nothing moving and just a sprawl, a mess of tractortrailers that have crashed into each other. And matt, you just said a moment ago that the alternate has a problem as well. Yeah, now were getting word of an accident along 309 in hatfield township. More on that in just a second but we so often have issues in this work zone along the northeast extension 476 by the lansdale interchange route 63. This morning its such a major issue. Accident involving four tractortrailers. We see several Passenger Vehicles also off to the side here. One of the trucks right there we saw smoke coming from it and you can maybe make out its kind of lodged on one of those concrete construction barriers. Plan x is now in effects. Were thinking hours that this is going to be closed. Its the northbound direction of the northeast extension, accident occurred just beyond the exit ramp for lansdale and southbound you can see the lanes are opened through the work zone but the traffic moving in them is moving very slowly.
