As has our crash here in south jersey on 295 northbound by auburn pedricktown everything is reopened there and overnight construction here on 295 in Camden County by the black horse pike has cleared so both ways youre moving along just fine through the ongoing work zone. Issues with the septa Regional Rails particularly the paoli thorn theyll Regional Rail line not running this morning between thorndale and malvern because of lingering amtrak wire issues from yesterday. Trains are running from malvern into the city but only one every 40 minutes so problems for you once again this morning if you ride the Paoli Thorndale line. Tam. Thank you, matt. This is new. Someone shot a 47yearold man while that man was walking in the citys West Oak Lane section overnight. A spray of bullets from this incident also shot out a cars rear window. Police rushed that man to the hospital. Hes in serious but stable condition. The overnight gunfire erupted on the 2000 block of chelten avenue. Just a few blocks away from that scene another shooting but this one left residents horrified trying to help a sixyearold girl shot and bleeding on the street. The child was playing outside her hem on the 6300 block of woodstock street and at least two different guns began to blast shooting at least 21 bullets through the air. That child was shot under her left arm. Bystanders rushed to offer aid until she could be transported to einstein hospital. Were told that she is currently in Critical Condition. Well have more coming up on this in a live report in our next half hour. And this is new. A man driving a stolen car with a threeyearold boy inside crashed in southwest philadelphia. The man lost control and struck a parked mercedes that careen need a parked truck. It happened at 8 30 last night near 63rd street and eastwick avenue. The boy was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. The driver who is in his 20s was seriously injured and investigators say when hes released from the hospital hell be turned over to face charges with police. Family and friends paid tribute to the threeyearold girl killed in a car crash in kensington on monday night. Loved ones placed stuffed animals and candles for Esther Palmer at second and west york streets last night. Police say the 17yearold driver in the striking vehicle ran a red light and may have been racing a third car that left the scene. Detectives are searching for a late 1990s black honda accord. Yall know yall were a part of it so please step up and say something. Because theres a grieving family. The little girls mother and grandmother were hurt in the crash. They are expected to recover. It is now 6 04 and an eightyearold boy rescued from a backyard pool is in Critical Condition at Childrens Hospital this morning. The child was pulled from the pool in winslow township Camden County just before 5 oclock yesterday. Authorities have not yet explained the circumstances of his near drowning. We are remembering a Childrens Television icon this morning. The man known as captain noah died yesterday at the age of 90. W. Carter merbreier was a beloved colleague here at 6abc. He and his wife pat cohosted the syndicated tv series captain noah and his magical arc for nearly 28 years. Katherine scott is live at the art museum with more on the fond memories captain noah left behind. Katherine. Reporter matt and tam so many people grew up with captain noah over the years he he had many special guests on his show including jim henson, Charles Barkley and elvis press he lee but it was captain noahs kind and gentle demeanor that kept kids coming back for decades. Captain noah was a hero to a lot of usism his real name was Carter Merbreier but all the kids knew him as captain noah. He died at his home in audubon pennsylvania tuesday after a short illness. He was 90. He was like family to the kids and they felt comfortable. Reporter merbreier grew up in Delaware County attended penn then seminary at temple university. In 1967, captain noah and his magical arc began airing on 6abc. A show merbreier created and cohosted with his wife patricia who died in 2011. What a great show. He taught kids how to share and we need more shows like that on tv. Reporter at its peak in the early 70s the show drew a larger local philadelphia audience than both captain kangaroo and sesame street combined there were puppets cartoons and of course the songs. I remember send your pictures to dear old captain noah, send today, send right away. Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue. Reporter the show was recorded at 6abcs studios and aired on the station until 1994 when the pair decided to retire. They cohosted approximately 3600 episodes and are remembered for making countless kids feel special and loved. I can make a rainbow, make a rainbow. Lets hop on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound still some overnight construction past norristown taking out the right and center lanes and then farther west in Chester County, you still have a right lane work zone as you pass malvern. Then a couple zones on the shoulder as well so still lots of construction on the pennsylvania turnpike. On the pennsylvanianew jersey turnpike connector headed westbound in florence township theres right lane construction were hearing. Thats going to be out there indefinitely and overnight work there at the burlington bristol bridge is long gone but crews return tonight at 9 oclock so at that point you probably want to avoid the triple b. Some construction in cherry hill today and tomorrow. 7 00 a. M. To 5 00 p. M. Long wood of a northbound closing. Kenilworth gets you around that and heart wood drive also closing. A North Carolina man calls 911 to complain of hoodlums in his neighborhood and then police say he committed murde murder. Chad copley who is white is accused of firing a shotgun from inside his raleigh garage on sunday killing 20yearold Kouren Rodney Thomas who is black. In a 911 call copley told a dispatcher weve got a bunch of hoodlums out here racing. He added he was locked and loaded. Thomas mother says her son was leaving a house party when he was killed. Copley he is due in court later this month. The fbi is looking more into possible pay to play politics in berks county. Agents returned to Reading City Hall yesterday. Current mayor wally scott invited them. Mayor scott says hes concerned about deals made by the Previous Administration between the Parking Authority and a together company.
