it has been less than a mile all morning. lancaster half a mile visibility, 4-mile visibility currently at philadelphia international airport so not as great of a problem flying out right now. but it's really north and west of the city where we have the potential for some dense fog. satellite6 and action radar showing, yup, another dreary day. the clouds return once again today. we'll see a few peeks of sunshine mixing in here or there in late morning, early afternoon hours. 47 degrees right now in philadelphia, 37 in allentown, 33 in mount pocono, from unin trenton, 45 in dover, 47 in sea isle city. here's what you can expect today. by 8:00 a.m., we'll still be dealing with some fog in spots, 46 trees. by noon, mostly cloudy skies and 50. by 3:00 p.m., lots of clouds, maybe a peek of sunshine, 54 with a few showers developing. in the afternoon and evening hours. we could have a period of rain town the shore. that's where it's going to pick up a little bit in intense is there so details on that rain tonight coming up in just a few minutes, matt. >> thank goodness people have those holiday lights up because it has been a dreary holiday season. good morning to you, karen. speaking of lights, low beams this morning through the fog here in bucks county along 95 by 413. you can see it is still foggy out here. we're seeing the foggy conditions along 95, route one, the 202 parkway, 309, a lot of those suburban routes north and west of the city. but once you get into the city along 95 not a lot of fog and not a lot of of delays. things look good on the vine and the schuylkill but coming off the schuylkill onto city avenue watch out those traffic lights are still dark off the ramp just like yesterday afternoon you need to treat that as a stop sign there where city avenue meets up with the schuylkill expressway. still have a crash in lower salford to avoid on clemens road at yoder road and one in upper providence along dreibelbis road at bennington road. we have been telling you about the crash that sparked a vehicle fire in westampton burlington county. now they're doing emergency repairs so now the right lane is blocked on the new jersey turnpike southbound past exit five for 541. you can expect some slowing now with that right lane blocked and still some flooding in new castle blocking offer airport road by the sheraton. 141 a much better bet on this wednesday morning. matt and tam. >> all right, thank you, matt. of course you know where we're starting, what everybody is talking about. angry and depressed eagles fans have been calling for blood for awhile and now they've gotten what they wanted. chip kelly no longer the eagles head coach. >> annie mccormick is live in south philadelphia where we are all awaiting details from the eagles boss. annie. >> reporter: and matt and tam, like you said a lot of people wondering why now. there's still one game left. they thought that jeffrey lurie would at least stick it out with chip kelly until the end of the season but it isn't so. he was fired yesterday. after the news spread tuesday night eagles head coach chip kelly is out, most fans were relieved. chants filled the crowd inside chickie's and pete's. >> ♪ >> it's been real. >> i was shocked, stunned but i'm very excited. >> it's time. it was time. he needed to go. >> lurie is a smart guy and he wants a winner so he's not going to keep the guys aren't that producing for him around. >> reporter: kelly played a mark right away trading eagles main stays and crafting what some thought was a new plan from scratch. fans trusted him. so did the franchise. but throughout the season kelly not only started to lose the respect of players and fans, he lost games. this season the eagles are now six and nine. many are trying to get into lurie's head about how kelly's firing went down. jeffrey lurie issued a letter to fans on the eagles web site saying in part "i have made a decision to release chip kelly this evening. i spent the last three seasons evaluating the many factors involved in our performance as a team. as i watched this season unfold, i determined that it was time to make a change ." and still a lot of questions for jeffrey lurie. we hope to hear some answers later today during a press conference. now, he also released the vice president of player personnel. both positions will be filled by current staff until they find their replacements. more to come. for now we're live at lincoln financial field, annie mccomic, channel6 "action news." >> thanks annie. now some former eagles responded on twitter to chip kelly's surprise ouster from the nest. former running back brian westbrook basically just said wow. brian dawkins tweeted the questions even more plentiful. the answers not so much. and former center julian vandervelde who was released during kelly's reign asked his followers to vote in a personnel in poll. so does chip getting fired mean the eagles will call me tomorrow or never again? we'll hear from steven a smith about chip kelly's firing and "action news" will continue our coverage on air and online. make sure to tune into "action news" at noon today when we will bring you jeff lurie's news conference live on the air plus online. >> it is 6:05. a man in the hunting park section of philadelphia was shot and killed execution style overnight. gunfire erupted just after 1:00 in the morning in the 700 block of west ontario street. police say the shooting was caught on nearby surveillance camera. they say the video shows four armed men approaching the victim and then opening fire at point blank range. investigators are still working to determine a motive for the murder. no one has been arrested. and a stray bullet struck a house in north philadelphia overnight. you're taking a look at new video just in from the 800 block of north tenth street. the gun shots shattered part of a front door and a storm window. no one inside the house, though, was hurt. police are trying to figure out where exactly that bullet came from. >> it is going to cost you more to drive the pennsylvania turnpike and soon. starting on sunday, tolls will increase by 6 percent. the money will go towards repaying loans that were used top fund road projects. the commission expects to impose annual fare increases of three to 6 percent until 2044. >> what? if we can see just a little bit of it here as we look live over the ben franklin bridge with sky6 officially about 5-mile visibility at philadelphia international airport. not as big of a problem as we have seen north and west of the city this morning. satellite6 and action radar showing lots of clouds in place. i think late this morning early afternoon we'll see skies trying to brighten a little but it's really one more dreary day that we've got today before we really get that sunshine back so it's coming, just not today. a wider look here showing we've got a weak wave of low pressure developing down to the south and it's really going race right up to our area. i mean, they're getting wet right now in atlanta but that's going to spread up towards philadelphia by this evening so moving pretty quickly and then it quickly moves out. we're not talking a lot of rain today. it's for the most part some light showers. we can look into this at future tracker6 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, just a couple of showers here or there. in the evening drive time even then most of the area rather dry but we start to see some of the rain build in from the south and west and i want to watch this at 8:30 tonight. you really see how we've got some rain in the city but heavier down to the south. if you're south of the city, that's where you're going to get some of these pockets of heavier rain. for the rest of it's pretty light. this is a look at 2:00 a.m. it's all pushing off the coast. sew it kind of comes in and out very quickly. here's what you can expect today. by 8:00 a.m., still some fog in spots 46 degrees. by 11:00 a.m., we'll see maybe a peek of sunshine, lots of clouds and another dreary day, 48 degrees. at least it's mild. by 2:00 p.m., 51 degrees. and by 5:00 p.m., 52 and i think that's when those showers will start to move into the area. the high today 54 degrees. as we look at the temperatures we can see 47 currently in the city but that colder air not that far off. they're just in the 20's in chicago. bismarck 15. we have cooler air that's going to move into our region. temperatures get closer to average in the seven-day forecast. we get brighter but closer to average. as we we ring in ne new year's eve partly cloudy skies at 6:00 p.m., 48 degrees. at midnight right around 40. not bad. for this time of year. it will feel pretty good. just told you about the toll increases going into effect this weekend on the pennsylvania turnpike. throws aren't the only changes on the turnpike. and i've been talking about this the last few weeks but let's remind you again. in bucks county, these changes take effect on sunday, january 3rd. they're basically going to shut down the delaware river bridge toll plaza. and open up a new toll plaza about 5 miles west called the neshaminy falls toll plaza. that's where if you're traveling eastbound and you're a cash customer you'll pay your toll. westbound you'll pick up a ticket. now, forts delaware river bridge coming in from new jersey, you're still going to be charged a toll if you have e-z pass your transponder will automatically be carved but if you're a cash customer, they're going to take a photo of your license plate and then you'll get a bill in the mail that you have to pay so changes coming to the pennsylvania turnpike coming up on sunday january 3rd, just a few days away in the new year. on the new jersey turnpike southbound past exit five they're still cleaning up from that crash and vehicle fire, doing some emergency maintenance now as a result the right lane remains blocked there. matt. >> thank you, matt. we have new information on a fiery plane crash in anchorage, alaska that left one person dead. the small plane that smashed into a building was used in volunteer search and rescue missions. we learned overnight that the pilot dug demaris who was killed in the crash was not authorized to fly the aircraft. no one on the ground was hurt. the fbi is assisting in the investigation. >> ethan couch the so-called affluenza teen and his mother will be back in the u.s. today. overnight we learned that it was a pizza order on a cell phone that led police to couch and his mother in the mexican resort city of puerta vallart vallarta. couch made headlines when he received probation for a drunk driving wreck that killed three people. his defense team said he had affluenza. he and his mother disappeared after couch skipped a probation hearing earlier this month after questions were raised about couch violating its limitations and drinking abrupt firing from the eagles is making news across the country. our sharrie williams spoke with espn analyst steven a smith by phone to get his thoughts. >> reporter: i am surprised by the timing. i didn't expect it to be this week. i definitely expected it to be next week. i thought it was a for gone conclusion that he would be gone simply because when you look at the whole situation that has regressed in the city of philadelphia, it wasn't just missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year but it was just the way things went down. he wanted complete power but he got rid of players in a league where talent is premium. you got this desean jackson from the previous year, jeremy maclin for this season. todd herremans, all of these guys everywhere you turn he was just getting rid of individuals, not necessarily herremans himself, because he didn't head in indianapolis but when you look at the talent that was playing elsewhere, lesean mccoy and others are doing somewhere else it this is new video in this morning. ohio police say this man justin rickert was drinking and driving and bragging about it on social media. franklin county deputies were alerted to the post on facebook and they raced to apprehend rickerts before somebody got hurt. the 28-year-old man posted the videos himself of himself drinking while he was behind the wheel of a car. rickerts is now facing a number with fog this morning and you're not alone f you're doing so. the national weather service has issued a dense fog advisory for areas north and west of the city. and that's through 10 o'clock this morning and we've seen some pretty low visibility. in fact, still .3 of a mile visibility in trenton and now in allentown, that's an update for you. we had over a mile visibility in allentown earlier. 1.5-mile visibility in reading, half a mile visibility in lancaster. we're still at 4-mile visibility at philadelphia international airport. and areas to the south you're looking pretty pretty good as far as the fog so it's really north and west of the city that's a big concern this morning. satellite6 and action radar showing lots of clouds in place. we'll see he kind of brighter skies through the early afternoon hours before some rain develops later on. so, let's run down the day for you. starting with the current temperatures. 47 in philadelphia. not bad for this time of year. 37 in allentown. 33 he in mount pocono. if you're along the shore it's 48 in sea isle city and in dover, delaware. by 8:00 a.m., we're still going to see fog in areas especially north and west, a route one the super highway with oxford valley road right over top close to the mall. so you have to drop the speeds a little bit because visibilities are not great but the traffic along the super highway overall is moving okay. becoming -- coming south from bucks county into northeast philadelphia along 95, you don't have as much company as normal. again, this morning we don't expect normal morning delays here in the southbound lanes and we're not seeing them yet as you enter the work zone here at cottman avenue. overnight work zone on the vine street expressway of course long gone now and the crews are not scheduled to return until early next week. hopefully they enjoy their little holiday break that is now under way. traffic on the vine looking okay although as i'm looking live here in the eastbound lanes looks like we might have something sticking out there into the right lane right off the schuylkill. i believe we do. a disabled vehicle i believe. now they're moving. along the eastbound vine. you know, constantly changing is the traffic, that's always the case. in lower salford crash is gone along clemens road at yoder road. still one in upper providence along season. a power struggle emerged between kelly and then general manager howie rows man seen here knowing better times. kelly won and his prize was both the coaching and the gm jobs. looking back eagles ceo jeffrey lurie may be kicking himself for giving so much power to a coach who only had two years of nfl experience and who had never won a playoff game. air and online. >> ♪ >> other news at 6:36 and new this morning, fire damaged a philadelphia grocery store and the apartments above it. the action cam was on the north ninth street and west fisher avenue in the logan section. the fire started in the basement around 1:00 a.m. heavy smoke spread up through the building. no injuries were reported. also new, authorities say an argument over a cell phone led to a double shooting in the city's frankford section. this happened on the front steps of the victim's home on the 5300 block of charles street just after midnight. a single gun shot grazed both 18-year-old victims. witnesses saw three men fleeing the scene. police found three people who fit the description about three blocks away. investigators say they are now interviewing witnesses to determine which one of the men was the shooter. both victims are expected to be okay. >> now to the latest on the deadly winter storm there has cut a path of destruction across the country. saint louis is bracing for the mississippi river to reach nearly 15 feet above flood stage by tomorrow. that would make it the second worst flood on record. missouri's governor called in the national guard to assist with disaster efforts. and in new england they're digging out from the first significant snowfall of the season but it came at just the right time. many skiers off for the holiday enjoyed that freshly packed powder out there on the slopes. >> we got a lot of rain from that same system karen but we caught a break because a lot of other people were suffering. >> we really did. all across the country they've had weather problems and for us it's just been a little dreary and that's it. things are actually turning up for us because we're getting some sunshine coming our way. let's take a o'clock this afternoon, just a couple of scattered showers here or there, pretty light and look at this latest model run showing not much of anything happening at 7 o'clock, a couple of sprinkles. we advance this to 8:30. it starts to pick up just a little bit and then in the overnight hours we saw some of that rain especially down to the south late tonight and into the overnight hours move through. here's what we can expect. we're looking at just a few evening showers. if we just look at that latest model run not showing much of anything so a little bit damp at times. it could be light rain that develops late tonight but really only down at the shore and areas south of the city, that's when it will pick up a little bit. for the rest of us just a few showers, not too bad but lots of clouds today making it feel dreary. by 8:00 a.m. still some fog and 46. by 11:00 a.m., 48 with some peeks of sunshine and by 2:00, mostly cloudy skies and 51. and by 5:00 p.m., maybe a shower in place and 52. not much rain at all today. 54 degrees for your high temperature. for new year's eve, as you're ringing it in it's a pretty good year to do so as we've seen above average temperatures getting closer to reality around new year's. by 6:00 p.m. 48 degrees and by midnight 40 degrees so still one of the more mild new year's eaves that we've had and new year's day for the mummers it's dry, partly sunny. by 10:00 a.m., 39 degrees. it will feel a little chilly with the breeze. by 2:00 p.m., 44. and by 6:00 p.m. you're dipping into the 30's, 39 degrees. here's a look at your exclusive this evening, maybe a bit of rain down the shore tonight. and then tomorrow clouds to sunshine, 50 degrees for new year's eve. friday brisk, feeling a little chilly with the breeze, 46 to your high. that's still above average for new year's day. saturday seasonably chilly, 43 but look at the beautiful sunshine. wall to wall sunshine. sunday we're seeing mostly sunny skies. we haven't been able to say that in awhile, 45 degrees. look at the overnight hours. 29 for the overnight low so when the kids wake up to go back to school monday morning it's going to be below freezing. so, cold start, 44 tiny bit of sluggishness through the work zone by girard. overall though speeds not bad on 95 or on the schuylkill. just off the schuylkill don't forget the traffic lights are still dark as you come off of 76 onto city avenue just like they were yesterday afternoon. you really need to treat that like a stop sign whether you're coming off the city avenue bridge or off the schuylkill, treat it at the end of that ramp like it's a stop sign. j.f.k. boulevard by love park between 15th and 16th watch out for restrictions really the rest of the week as we get ready for the plumbers parade and several more disney on ice shows today will be in south philadelphia at the wells fargo center. doing emergency repairs following that crash and vehicle fire on the new jersey turnpike southbound past exit five burlington mount holly and we've seen some slow speeds from time to time because the right lane is blocked. i think your best bet is to just avoid it and use 295 southbound instead. in the vineland area watch out for more construction today along 55 both ways near main road. left lane out of commission until 3 o'clock. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. developing right now, a manhunt is under way in boca raton florida after a fatal shooting. the shooter killed a 19-year-old student at a student housing complex near florida atlantic university and that sent the complex into a lockdown for hours. authorities are now searching for five suspects. just over a week ago the nearby florida atlantic football stadium hosted the boca raton bowl where temple university lost to the university of toledo. >> detectives are stepping up their efforts to catch man who is robbing people at gun point at septa bus stops in the city. officers went door to door handing out fliers in west oak lane. authorities believe the same plan is behind nine bus stop robberies. in all cases but one the victims are whim. police are recommending you be alert an wear of your surroundings. philadelphia police say they have arrested a propane thief and 33 know who his accomplice is. last week's thefts at two locations caused concern because of how much propane was stolen. at least 40 tanks with hundreds of pounds of gas. police found some of the hall along the 2900 block of wheatsheaf lane in port richmond last night along with two vehicles. detective are awaiting a search warrant. they believe the a florida church. it was caught on surveillance camera. police say the man walked into our lady queen of heaven church in north lauderdale last week casually looked around and then seemed to leave but he comes back reaches over the claire and snatches the woman's purse. the 84-year-old victim ran after him but he got away. her purse was later recovered but without her wallet, money and other valuables. >> a north jersey law enforcer who turned tables on a police impersonator is talking about it for the first time. woodbridge township police sergeant charles stab was on his way to work last week when he saw lights flashing behind him on the garde garden state parkway. the sergeant thought the black suv belonged to a state trooper until it sped off during his traffic stop. >> 911 because i found that suspicious. i didn't believe a state police vehicle would do that. i caught up to the vehicle. and got the license plate. i got a description of the driver. >> 68-year-old richard
