city and annie mccormick headed to the scene right now and watching for this. market street remains blocked at this point so that's blocked near second street in olde city because of this highrise fire. you have to stick to race or arch, chestnut or walnut to get around the closure there. outside live we go on i-95 that's southbound traffic headed towards center city moving nicely so far at cottman. dry right here looking pretty good right now on i-95. all lanes opened. on the big picture speeds reflecting that still moving at about 55 miles an hour on i-95. kensington boston street remains closed with that big sinkhole. construction out here route 23 over 422 and right now we're looking at the crews on both 23 and 422 have cleared. the lanes are back opened. again you just want to watch for a slick spot or two when you head out but no major issues yet, tam. >> thank you, karen. let's go to some breaking news right now coming to us from olde city. we're taking a look at a multi alarm fire that broke out about 45 minutes ago and you can see smoke there against the night sky. this is market street at letitia street in olde city. heavy fire has been showing off the roof of a six story apartment building. if you know that part of the city you know it's tightly packed, highly populated, a lot of apartment buildings so a lot of cause for concern. we're told that the fire quickly went to a second alarm and that fire crews began evacuating the building but so far no reported injuries but you can expect some delays in this area. >> we are waiting to learn if wintry weather played a role in this deadly crash in burlington county, new jersey. one person was killed when a jeep and an suv collided in medford last night. it happened along tuckerton road at robin hill drive during an evening snow shower. you see snow on the roadway there. medics say the other people injured in the crash did not require an ambulance. police in another part of burlington county have a suspicious death on their hands. the body of a 74-year-old man was found inside a home on the unit block of hancock lane in willingboro yesterday afternoon. authorities remain tight lipped only saying they are not ruling out the possibility that the death somehow stemmed from some type of domestic dispute. now "action news" has reached out to family members and they say police have not offered any more information. family and friends came together last night to honor two sisters who were struck and killed in northeast philadelphia by a man who police say was driving drunk. police say 19-year-old kimberly phillips and 10-year-old loraya braxton were crossing the roosevelt boulevard in the designated crosswalk on saturday night when kenneth ruch hit them. ruch fled the scene but was arrested nearby. >> he hurt us. he didn't kill two innocent children, he killed a whole family. >> a funeral for both girls will take place on saturday. the driver faces a number of charges including homicide by vehicle while under the influencely. >> president donald trump has made a dramatic move in defense of his travel ban. last night when the acting attorney general refused to defend it, he fired her. trump has replaced sally yates with dana boente. he's issued a statement instructing the department of justice to defend the president's order. a short time later trump made another personnel change naming thomas homan the new acting director of immigration and customs enforcement. this is what we heard from the white house press secretary last night. >> i think that they should either get with the program or they can go. hold on, hold on. this is -- this is about the safety of america. and there's a reason that the majority of americans agree with the president. is 'cause they understand that that's his number one priorit priority. >> now that's sean spicer. what he was referring to is word that dozens of diplomats drafted a formal letter of dissent. they argue it will mean a drop in international did that will towards commence david you're tracking spotty snow showers. >> spotty snow showers this morning. they'll start to build a little bit later on. storm tracker6 live double scan has been showing us that we are looking at some of that snow shower activity and right now i've actually got future tracker up showing you better temperatures for tomorrow so let me just flip this over real quick. i was in the middle of doing my facebook live and, well, in any event, now we're back on track. you've got some snow showers out there this morning. if we take a look at that two dimensional view, you can see that some of these are still showing in fairly bright white down by dover. there's another one out west of gettysburg. most of these, however, are in the process of kind of falling apart and while i do think that, you know, some of you are going to see some of this this morning, it doesn't look like it lasts all that much longer and there's the movement. they are pretty quickly moving over toward the east and again i'll give you that wide view. a couple of additional snow showers out to the west but i do think these are in the process of diminishing. if you get caught underneath one of these just slow it down because temperatures are below freezing and we could have a potential freeze up. as we take a look outside we have sky6 is the airport and we're dry in philadelphia. and probably staying dry for most of the day in the city. some additional snow and rain showers are possible later but most of those are in the northern suburbs. 27 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia, winds out of the south at 6 miles per hour, so the winds not much of an issue this morning. once we get finished with those early snow showers that i just showed you on radar, the rest of the morning into the afternoon features a sweep of snow showers coming through the northern suburbs and then eventually mixing with some rain showers a little closer to philadelphia. this is the 5 o'clock in the afternoon view. so, again, you can see by 5:00 we're still looking at off and on snow showers from about the lehigh valley north and then maybe some rain showers developing farther south. most of this is done pretty quickly this evening. and as we take a look at any accumulating snow, well, with it being mostly snow up in the lehigh valley and places like kutztown reading quakertown there's a chance of a coating to an inch of snow accumulating in through here. if you're traveling farther north up toward the poconos today expect about one to 3 inches on the ground fresh snow from the snow showers coming through during the morning and afternoon. in terms of temperatures, not too bad today. 29 degrees and cold to start out. you want your winter coat right now no doubt, maybe some extra gear. 33 degrees by 10:00 but by noon we're up close to 40 and we expect a high of 42 at 3 o'clock this afternoon. again, clouds, some sun and the farther north you go the better chance you have of some rain and some snow showers today. by 6 o'clock we're down to 37 in philadelphia. high temperatures across the region, well, up in allentown, 36 degrees. 37 in reading. it looks like low to mid 40's in the i-95 corridor and some spots farther south could actually get into the upper 40's this afternoon. so, cooler up north today. milder down south. now here's that future tracker view tomorrow morning. right now we're in the 20's, pretty cold, right? tomorrow morning it only looks like we'll be in the 30's and in some cases the 40's and as we go into the afternoon, we all get up into the 40's and i'm actually going for a high tomorrow of 48 so things are going get better tomorrow. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, today's high, 42. we've got that that possibility of an occasional rain or snow shower. can't rule out some sun at times today and most of that precipitation this afternoon even later this morning in through the afternoon will be up north. breezy and milder then on wednesday with a high of 48 and on thursday, ground hog day mostly sunny and breezy with a high of 40. then on friday we're colder again, 34 there. 33 under the sun on saturday and sunday's looking a little interesting, a high of 37 with clouds increasing during the day and in the afternoon there is the possibility of a wintry mixed precipitation. for some it will be rain at times others it will be snow. that could continue into sunday night and maybe even spill into the early part of monday morning. precipitation type will depend on where you r still honing in on that but it does look like some of us could get some accumulating snow. again that would be sunday afternoon, sunday night mainly. >> thank you david. >> yeah. >> people in d.c. are paying a little extra attention as they let the dog out or put out the trash this morning now that there's word of a bobcat out there on the loose. >> a passenger on a bus jumps about that and jump into the suburbs when "action news" comes right back. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> 5:42 and fire has led to evacuations at an apartment building in olde city. it's a pretty big one. this is crews then started evacuating the structure. annie mccormick is on the scene. she's already tweeting some information and video and ivory tweeted that and we'll get a live report from annie coming up clear. we can take a look at the ramps. you want to be extra careful on your ramps, overpasses, you had a little bit of snow in spots that came down with those snow squalls yesterday so you're still seeing a slick spot or two. we have fresh snow in a few spots as well. storm tracker6 live double scan showing it's really been dissipating but we want to anticipate some snow showers here or there through the morning especially to the north and then rain or snow showers in the afternoon. now, right now you can see another snow shower about to hit cape may. it's kind of jumping the delaware bay near sea isle city it's off the coast. some flurries into mays landing. not really a big deal at this point near route 40 but we saw some snow showers there and there you can see how it's kind of pushing off the coast and right now you have a little snow shower that's just west of reading lifting through honey brook heading towards 422. but it's pretty light. i think you'll mostly just get flurries out of that right now but watch for that. roads not entirely dry, tam. >> thank you, karen. happening today a local family affected by president trump's immigration travel ban will join a
