Looking live in new jersey, 42 northbound looking pretty good f youre headed out to work youre looking good and with mass transit weve got an issue here and theres a problem with the track conditions with new Jersey Transit and theyve suspended the river line so no service on the river line between bordentown and roebling. Everything else moving okay this morning and theres a little frost out there this morning so make sure you scrape off your windshield just a little bit or watch for a slick spot or two on the roads and we have an accident on 295 northbound, the onramp to hook road here in salem county. So watch for that accident and a new one coming in to us right now in delaware county. Sixth street at mcchin tock drive so watch for. That were hearing theres an injury with that. If youre heading out to travel visit grandmom for thanksgiving pennsylvania turnpike in the clear and checking new jersey, new jersey turnpike also in the clear with speeds looking in the 60s and i just retweeted something out from aaa reminding everybody to have a designated driver tonight if youre headed out f youre looking at i95 near the airport if youre about to take a flight no travel delays here on the roads getting you there, matt and tam. Thanks karen. Lets stay with that theme. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott is live at Philadelphia International airport to see how folks are getting to grandmas house. Good morning, katherine. Reporter good morning, matt. Yeah, weaver been taking a look at the boards here and the good news is so far weve seen a lot of on time departures. So far so good here at the airport this morning. Were at the security checkpoint between terminals d and e and its been pretty busy. Weve seen steady line of people given how early that it is in the morning and of course its just going to get busier as the day goes on. Aaa midatlantic estimates more than half a million philadelphia area residents will travel 50 miles or more away from home today through sunday. Nationally that number stands at 49 million. Thats the most since 2007. Most of them will travel by car. 9 percent will travel by air and were seeing some of those travelers here today and. Heres Something Else to keep in mind. We know its a huge day at the airports around the country but here at Philadelphia International airport expect crowds at departures an arrivals. We spoke to jana tidwell this morning from aaa midatlantic. Believe it or not of the top 10 destinations philadelphia is ranked among the top 10 so there will be not only people leaving philadelphia for thanksgiving but a lot of people coming to philadelphia. And back here live where folks are heading through security, the t. S. A. Recommends that if youre flying domestic its good to be at the airport up to two hours before you go and also its always a good idea to check your flight status before you led to the airport. Were live at Philadelphia International airport, Katherine Scott, channel6 action news. Getting busy. Thank you katherine. Now to the trains. The action cam was s live at 30th street station. This is unscientific but what do you think is the number one right now . Lets find out with a push of the button. Bam. A lot of people not traveling which is what im doing. Im just going sit on my couch well, ill help with things but its a lot easier being at your home isnt it. You can vote in our poll as well at 6abc. Com. Thank you, matt. Breaking right now philadelphia firefighters rushed into rescue mode when they got to the scene of a burning home they found someone hanging from a second story win dover. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick just arrived at the scene. The 1700 block of annan street in the point breeze section. She picks up the story. Good morning, annie. Reporter good morning, tam l i want to tamala. I want to show you the home. When Police Arrived around 4 45 to what they say was a one alarm fire they did see a woman on the second floor that was trying to escape. They were able to put a ladder up there and then rescue that woman. They do believe that the fire did happen in the second floor bedroom and that is where she was trying to escape. After they rescued her they brought her down. She then went next door to a neighbor and just about 15 minutes ago paramedics did arrive and they transported her over to the hospital just for precautionary measures for maybe a little bit of smoke inhalation im told but otherwise she was okay. They tell us there was only one person in the home at the time, the 63yearold woman who they did rescue and they say that there were no other structures on this block, even though theyre very close together, the row homes here, that were affected so at this point they say that this is under control. They did have a heavy response because they heard that there was a rescue needed but again good job by firefighters who were able to seay that 63yearold woman from her home. For now reporting live in point breeze Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. All right, annie thank you for that. Investigators say an explosion in center city was no accident. Alden suffered injuries to his hand face and upper body. Authorities believe alden was the intended target and part of a domestic dispute. Police are questioning a number of people. President elect donald trump is at his seconds home in florida to celebrate thanksgiving and sure enough it will probably end up being his third home. The Associated Press reports that trump has formally offered a cabinet post to ben carson. The retired neurosurgeon who had said he doesnt feel prepared to run an entire Government Agency is now a contender for secretary of housing and urban development. Carson who ran for president this year will consider the offer over the holiday. President elect trump sat down for an hour long interview with the new york times, a paper he bashed constantly throughout his campaign. He softened his hard line position on Climate Change backed off of saying he would prosecute Hillary Clinton and denounced the white Naturalist Group that celebrated his victory at a weekend gathering in washington. Time to turn to dave murphy take a look at what you can expect as a lot of People Get Ready to hit the roads and travel. Yeah, today looks okay in most cases for travel. Tomorrow a few showers around. Okay. Thats the way things are looking. Storm tracker6 live double scan we are looking dry this morning. Taking a look outside we have sky6 and there you see ben franklin bridge not really hit up in all that blue color this morning for whatever reason but we are looking at cold conditions this morning across its region but plenty of sun coming up over the horizon a little bit later on. 32 degrees is your current temperature, so on the cold side out there and some suburbs are below freezing. However, as promised the winds are a lot lighter today, just 6 Miles Per Hour right now so were not dealing with severe wind chills this morning. And there you see the lack of cloud cover so lots of sun early an few patchy clouds beginning to develop as the day goes on. Probably getting more cloudy later tonight. Heres where numbers are going to go. Still pretty cold by 8 oclock. Upper 30s by 10 oclock by noon 43 and youll get a high close to 50, well call it 49 and that will be at about 3 oclock. Still fairly bright through there. By 5 oclock 44 degrees with those clouds continuing to thicken up. Again not nearly as windy today as it was yesterday. And 49 the high in philadelphia. 48 in allentown and 50 in cape may. Really not much difference around the region in terms of our high temperatures. If you are traveling, heading up i95 to new york city or boston or receiving guests from areas to the north, all green weatherwise in terms of travel conditions. Of course theres going to be a lot of traffic probably. That might slow you down but no rain or anything to show you down. Same thing going south to richmond and same thing out to pittsburgh. If youre headed farther west to ohio or illinois later this afternoon a little bit of caution as there will be some rain moving in those areas and out in minnesota and northern wisconsin Northern Michigan a little bit of light snow possible. Around here overnight theres the chance of the poconos picking up some mixed precipitation so if youre planning to drive up late tonight or overnight or early tomorrow morning into the poconos, look out for some icy patches. Were not expecting much precipitation down through allentown, redsing and northern bucks and montco but these areas would be colds enough where if you do get a sprinkle lets say it could freeze up on road surfaces so when youre driving around early on thursday morning, you see something that looks wet, it might be a little bit icy. Probably not much going on in regard though and then tomorrow at 8 30 when youre starting to line up for the parade it looks like its cloudy across the region. Before the end of the parade at 12 00 though theres the possibility of some sprinkles or showers beginning to move in and then the rest of thanksgiving day cloudy and off and on sprinkles and showers. Most of these are light and brief but its part of the package tomorrow. Headed to the parade then cloudy skies for the most part. These temperatures a little cool but weve had far worse. 43 degrees with not much wind at 8 oclock a pretty good and at the end of the parade 49 degrees again maybe a shower developing toward the end of the parade or on your walk back to the car. Winds will be light enough where the balloons will fly though. Your exclusive accuweather 7day 49 partly sunny less wind today. Yay and then tomorrow clouds with as you saw some spotty showers centered mainly in the afternoon. 52 is the high. And then on friday clouds with some sunny breaks, a high of 56. But another round of showers late in the day or in the evening. Looks like that rains gone in time for saturday. Sunny breaks breezy on saturday. 54 the high. Temple plays at night to wrap up the regular season probably going to wind up nine and three i would say thats a pretty good year and then mostly sunny skies on sunday with a high of 52 degrees, a nice way to wrap up a long holiday weekends. On monday sun to clouds, 54. At this point it still looks dry for monday night football. The eagles and green bay and then by tuesday cloudy with the possibility of some rain wednesday could also be wet. All right. All right. Thank you david. It is now 5 41. Theyll block it off from 9 30 until 3 00 today and again from 6 30 tonight. All the dancers are out there. Ive enjoyed the pictures of that. Bless go to the commuter traffic report right now. We found r rider six out here talking about an object on the road on the blue route near West Conshohocken so watch for that heading out and thanks to r rider the ramp to 295 northbound from hook road that accident is cleared. But one out here in upland borough so on sixth street and mcchin tock drive. I want to show you this though with the waze app. Theyve analyzed the traffic patterns and it looks like today the time to avoid is from 10 00 a. M. To the end of the day. Everybodys traveling. Each year the cpsc demonstrates how quickly a turkey fryer fire can burn out of the control. Keep fryers away from the house and only use a completely thawed turkey so you dont throw a frozen one in there have everything spill over and catch fire. This is the philadelphia bull that nearly broke the internet. The 1 ton animal broke free from a slaughterhouse in north philadelphia yesterday afternoon and began gall lopping down i95 and the vine street expressway. When the bull merged off the highway at callowhill street a member of the Game Commission took it down. Twitter users created the lash tag harambull likening the animal to the gorilla shot and killed at the cincinnati zoo. The gaming officer says who knows what could have happened if he hadnt shot and killed the run away bull. It is 5 48. More than a hundred people reported a streaking fire ball. We have brand new video. Well show you a risky takedown of a would be rob erin side and outside a convenience store. Good news if youre driving this thanksgiving. Gas prices are down. Average price for a gallon of regular is 2. 13 nationally down about 10 cents from last month. Average in southeastern pa is higher 2. 33. South jersey a gallon about 2. 14 and prices in delaware about 2. 11 and notice delaware is the cheapest place given all the gas taxes have gone up in pa and in much.
