The officers were responding to a traffic stop in progress at 11th and spencer streets in the fern rock section around 2 00 a. M. When those suspects tried to pull away they ended up rear ending that unmarked vehicle. One suspect tried to jump out. Police caught up with him in a nearby apartment building. The other suspect stayed in the car and was placed under arrest. Police found drugs in that vehicle. The officers involved were not seriously hurt. And a mother in mayfair had her purse and car stolen at an atm but she was probably not thinking about the material things because the thief also drove away with her young son in the back seat. Reporter good morning, tam l and she has her precious cargo back. She did get that little boy back after Police Believe that the driver maybe looked in the Rearview Mirror and saw that the suspect who carjacked her vehicle saw that little boy in the back seat. Well, take a look at this video. We were there as mother and son were reunited. This is the video where police recovered the stolen car after the suspect ditched it with the boy inside in the 6400 block of charles. Now, just before 9 00 last night 911 calls came into the 15th district, a carjacking with a sixyearold boy in the back seat. Now, his mom said she parked her car in the parking lost of the bank of wells fargo in the 6500 block of frankford to go to the atm. While she was there she heard her car speed off. Police did recover the car two blocks away. Police think the suspect realized the child was in the car and ran but before he did that and left the car, he stole the mothers purse from inside the car. A witness tells us that he helped chase down that car. He describes what he saw. We chased him around the corner in another car. Im sure he looked in the rear view, saw a kid in there and said oh my god, i got a kid so he bailed out. Left the kid there crying, shaken. We got the kid out, let him go, figured the cops would get him. Ran the kid to the mom and he she was still hysterical but everything ended well. Reporter now police are still looking for that suspect. They do have some Surveillance Video that theyve been looking at to get a look at who it is but they have not identified who that suspect is.
