Witnesses told Police Last Night that the minivan seen hitting this young woman and can youy killing her was going at an excessive speed and actually threw her into the air. This is video from around 11 30 last night. Thats when police say that the woman had the green light and was using the crosswalk when the vehicle went through the red light. The pedestrian was on her phone while she was walking across that crosswalk. Now, accident investigators found her belongings scattered all over the roadway. They are still working to i. D. The woman who appears to be about 19 or 20. They tell us that she was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses say the force of the crash sent her into the front window of that minivan, then she was thrown into the air. Her body went rolled onto the hood of this vehicle. She hit her head on the windshield. And her body was lifted and traveled about 200 feet in a northern direction after being struck and thats where she landed on adams avenue at the boulevard. Reporter now, that minivan that police are looking for was last seen headed on adams avenue. They say its white or silver, about 10 to 15 years old and it will have damage on both the hood of the vehicle and also the windshield. On the 300 block. The vehicle also caused minor damage to a business. The pedestrians were checked out at the hospital for cuts and injuries to the legs and arms. Police are still questioning the driver. The defense continues its closing arguments today in the corruption trial of congressman chaka fattah. His lawyers are arguing to the jury that the racketeering case is smearing a long time public servant. The prosecution has been trying to make the case that fattah was corrupt paying back an Illegal Campaign loan with federal grant money and using nonprofit money to help family and friends.
