Half a mile visibility in allentown. And we drop now to 4mile visibility at Philadelphia International airport so be careful as youre flying but its mostly north and west of the city that we have this dense fog currently. Were going to keep an eye on that because fog sometimes changes pretty quickly. Satellite6 and action radar we can see how we have lots of clouds up above. I think well get some breaks of sun here or there through the clouds later on this afternoon. But its also going to be wet later on as well. During most of your daytime youre dry. Its later this evening and tonight where we get some light rain. 46 degrees right now in philadelphia. Its 39 in allentown, 43 in reading. Just 36 in mount pocono. But a milder 46 in millville and atlantic city. Heres what you can speculate today. Were going to see mostly cloudy skies. Some late day showers and some evening rain especially if youre south of the city. I think thats where the rain is going to be heaviest later on tonight. 54 degrees for your High Temperature so at least temperatures staying on the mild side but were really going see a big change with temps in the sevenday forecast matt. Ill explain when things go down temperaturewise coming up. Speaking of changes we have a seen a change in some of that fog that you spoke of karen. Were live in montgomeryville along 309 at dekalb pike. Fog was much thicker about a half hour ago. Now its still out here but its not quite as dense so a little bit of improvement along 309 and the traffic is moving fine. We expect volume nd light again this morning. Lower salford crash along clemens road at yoder road. No problems coming down the northeast extension. No overnight construction there. Theres still a wreck in Upper Providence along dreibelbis road at bennington road south of 113 but traffic on 422 is moving fine with speeds in the mid50s. As you come off the schuylkill onto city avenue this morning watch out, traffic lights are dark just like yesterday afternoon. The best bet to treat that ramp and intersection like a stop sign. No problems on the schuylkill itself or on 95 and overnight construction that we had on the vine street expressway has cleared out. Everything reopened here. Crews not expected to return until early next week. And in Burlington County theres a crash and vehicle fire in the southbound lanes of the jersey turnpike past exit five but all the activity is off to the side. Matt. Thank you, matt. In chip we trust no more. Eagles ceo just free lurie announced his decision to fire the teams head coach last night. Chip kelly stormed onto the nfl scene in 2013 immediately leading the eagles to the playoffs but they missed them the next season and slumped after an off season personnel power struggle. Kelly won the gm job but made several bold moves that backfired. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live outside lincoln financial field with fan reaction. Annie. Reporter and, matt, right after people started finding out the news that chip kelly was fired we caught up with some sports talk radio hosts to who say that fans were surprised but so were players. People were shocked. I reached tout a couple players that i know from covering the team on a daily basis. Its interesting, theyre finding out from one another. Theyre shocked by the move. Reporter sports talk radio hosts were inundated with calls from fans after the news spread tuesday night eagles head coach chip kelly is out. Most fans who called in were relieved. Kelly made a mark right away trading eagles main stays and crafting what some thought was a new plan from scratch. Fans trusted him, so did the franchise but throughout the season kelly not only started to lose the respect of players and fans, he lost games. The eagles are now six and nine. Many are trying to get into Jeffrey Luries head about how kellys firing went down. I think he realized that he made a mistake giving him control of the whole ship early and this is kind of pay back for it. I gave you this, i trusted you and you took my franchise into the toilet right now. Reporter and Jeffrey Lurie issued a letter to fans on the eagles web site saying in part i have made a decision to release chip kelly this evening. I spent the last three seasons evaluating the many factors involved in our performance as a team. As i watched this season unfold i determined that it was time to make a change. And now he also released the Vice President of player personnel. Both positions will be filled by current staff until they find their replacements. Were expected to learn more today in the press conference. For now were live outside of lincoln financial field, Annie Mccormick, channel6 action news. Annie thank you for that. Its been no secret that chip kelly has had a rather contentious relationship with some of his players. Heres what former eagle Jeremiah Trotter had to say about the situation. I think you started to see that chip started to lose the team. When you have guys like peter come out and say i dont play for the head coach no matter if you dont like the head coach you got to respect him. Action news reached out to other players who were stunned by the announcement. I was surprised cause i really thought they was going to give him another, you know, off season to prove himself after all the stuff that happened this past year. Action news will have continuing coverage of chip kellys firing. Make sure that you tune into action news afternoon today. Well bring you jeff luries News Conference live on air and online. 5 36 and new this morning, fire damaged a philadelphia Grocery Store and the apartments above it. Ill show you a graphic of how much rain came in those areas in a second. We have been lucky with the weather for sure. That continues this morning where double scan is showing were drive. Were not staying dry today, were getting just a bit of light rain later on tonight. Lets go outside. We want to see what it looks like. The issue for us this morning is fog and as we look at the sky6 shot you can see its certainly not too bad in philadelphia. Its mostly north and west of the city where we have the issues. The current temperature is 46 degrees, the dewpoint 42. The winds out of the east at three and the barometric pressure is rising. Weve got our always on day planner to help you plan your day hour by hour. Satellite6 and action radar showing lots of clouds in place so were starting off kind of gloomy once again. Later on this afternoon well see skies trying to brighten a little bit but it will be mostly cloudy skies. Currently dry through the area but a wider look showing a weak wave of low pressure down to the south thats going to kind of race right up into our region and later on this evening we get some light rain developing out of this. Lets talk you through it here with future tracker6. Looking at 3 oclock this afternoon, just a couple of showers in spots. Mostly cloudy skies. Not too bad. When people are coming home from work at 6 30, a few more showers. Some light rain starting to push in from the south and west. But we advance this until 8 30 tonight and you can see weve got light rain in philadelphia. But some heavier rain down at the shore. I think those are the spots south of the city that get the heavier rain tonight. So thats a look at 8 30 and then we can see it pushing its way out of here in the early overnight hours. So its late evening and nighttime rain. For the most part its light in the city and heavier down to the south. This is what we can expect hour by hour. By 8 00 a. M. , 46 degrees, still some fog in spots. Its going to be dense north and west of the city. By 11 00 a. M. , 48 with cloudy skies. By 2 00 p. M. , maybe it looks a little bit brighter with mostly cloudy skies. And by 5 00 p. M. Were starting to see a couple of light showers form in the city and that heavier rain will be moving in at nighttime in the areas down to the south. 54 degrees for your High Temperature so temps on the mild side. This is accumulated rain since saturday as we look at the central part of the u. S. When we have been talking about historic flooding in saint louis up to 5inches of rain, up to 10inches of rain in parts of central u. S. And thats been causing so many problems through missouri and all along the Mississippi River. And theyve had eight Straight Days of tornadoes which is a new record setting for december in 2015. 72 tornado reports this late in the year so serious weather out in our west. Not in our region its staying really quiet. Mostly cloudy skies today, 54 degrees for your high. Some showers in the evening hours and then some light rain developing especially down to the south it will pick up a little bit. Tomorrow clouds to sun for new years eve, 50 degrees for your high. Saturday seasonably chilly with just 43. Sunday mostly sunny skies and 45. Look at the overnight low. 29. So when you wake up on monday and head back to school and work, its a cold start with temperatures below freezing in the morning. 44 for your afternoon high. Tuesday stays bright and 45 so temperatures getting closer to average but its getting brighter in your seven day. All right. Thank you, karen. It is now 5 40. Were here by wawa in north wales along dekalb pike at welsh road. Lights are working, volumes light just have to watch out for a little bit of that fog and a few accidents this morning. Theres one here in lower salford Montgomery County along clemens road at yoder road. Still have the one in Upper Providence along dreibelbis road at bennington road just south of 113. No issues so far if youre coming in on 422 from pottstown but in Burlington County westampton township a vehicle ran off the new jersey turnpike southbound, caught fire. Still some activity out there past exit five but its all on the shoulder so not a big delay there. Farther north between exits 7a and 8a speed restrictions are up because of the foggy conditions and you have to watch out for the construction crews especially in the fog in Egg Harbor Township theres work on the garden state parkway southbound near 322 blocking the right lane.
