a bit chilly. by 6:00 a.m. about 40. by 8:00 a.m. 41 degrees. after that temperatures will be just a little bit above average. not quite as mild as yesterday. 50 degrees for your high. the whole way through we'll see sunshine mixing with clouds its a nice afternoon. no rain, no problems with wind so we could stake that. by noon 47, by 3:00 p.m. 49 degrees. by 6:00 p.m., 44 coming down from your high of 50. the one issue today is unusual for this time of year. it's an air quality alert day. this is for the unhealthy sensitive groups much be careful if you're the young elderly anyone with respiratory issues try not to be outside so much today. there are a lot of fine particles in air. we have an inversion with warmer air aloft trapping in pollution. other than that a nice day to enjoy. details in a warmup on that seven day coming up. >> you know one of the philosophies i abide by is better late than never karen rogers and i think maybe the way our construction crews feel, too. they ran a little late this morning here along the vine street expressway but they're gone now. they did clear out in the last few minutes. this is the ramp from the schuylkill eastbound side to the eastbound side of the vine street expressway. the vine has reopened now in both directions. still working on that water main break by juniata park along cayuga street near k. you want to avoid that this morning. stick with bristol or hunting park. no problems so far along 95 or the schuylkill. they both look good and overnight construction on the northeast extension has cleared out. we still have that water main break in worcester township blocking off township line road this morning. i would just stay down on germantown pike throughout the morning commute to get around that. new problems coming in to us in northampton county. we have a shot of i-78, the westbound side you see the standstill of taillights there headed westbound. this is traffic coming out of warren county, new jersey, into northampton county, pennsylvania. the westbound lanes of 78 are closed because of a very serious accident by exit 75. that's the exit for morgan hill road. no word on when it's going to reopen but i-78 has been shut down since just before 4 o'clock this morning. very serious accident there. back out here burlington bristol bridge getting ready for an opening momentarily. head for the turnpike connector instead and then we're expecting an opening at the tacony palmyra bridge around 6:00 so also start heading for the betsy ross if the tacony palmyra is your normal bridge on this tuesday morning. matt. >> we begin way developing story a man who forced his way into a philadelphia home that did not belong to him did not make it out alive. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the scene along the 6100 block of reed street in the lawncrest section. katherine. >> reporter: matt, that's right, police believe that man was after drug money but he didn't make it out alive after a homeowner pulled his gun on him and you can see police remain on the scene here in lawncrest on the 6100 block of reed street. they were initially called around 11:30 last night. police say the 35-year-old man who was killed barged through the front door last night with a gun in his hands and announced a robbery to the five people inside. that's when police say the 27-year-old homeowner took out his gun and fired at least four shots. the intruder was hit twice and collapsed dropping his handgun by his feet. meanwhile two women who live here had gone to get their own semi-automatic weapons but never fired them. when police arrived they found the 35-year-old on the dining room floor. he had been shot in the neck and his chest. medics performed cpr and tried to revive him but law pronounced dead just after midnight. while police were investigating here they discovered what appears to be marijuana inside the home and cash nearby and believe that might have been why the robber targeted this home. >> it was a green weed-like substance in a large plastic bag. it appears to be marijuana. has a heavy odor of marijuana. there's also several hundred dollars right next to this alleged marijuana and we also found some packaging material. >> reporter: and there's no word on if any charges will be filed. everybody inside the home was taken to the homicide division to be interviewed. we're live in lawncrest, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> katherine, thank you for that. it's now 5:34 and philadelphia police are investigate wag could be an anti-muslim hate crime. this is surveillance video from sunday night outside the islamic society on the 1500 block of germantown avenue in kensington. it shows a red pickup truck tossing what appears to be the severed head of a pig in front of the mosque. the koran prohibits muslims from eating pork. pigs and pork products have historically been used to taunt muslims. we'll have much more coming up in a live report in our next half hour. >> i'm erin o'hearn here at the big board. donald trump who continues to dominate the gop field in the race for the white house is now calling to ban all muslims from entering the united states. the proposed policy would apply to immigrants and visitors. his rivals including jeb bush and john kasich are calling him everything from divisive to unhinged. ted cruz who is gaining ground on trump in the polls said of trump's announcement it was not his policy. hillary clinton called the ban reprehensible and prejudice. trump issued the proposal yesterday afternoon stating the ban should remain in place until "our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." the candidates newest and likely most controversial statements come after the mass shooting in san bernadino and a recent poll from a conservative washington think tank claiming there is a level of hatred towards america among large segments of the muslim population. >> our country cannot be the victim of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad. they have no respect for human life. >> well, a short time after trump made his remarks the florida mayor announced he's banning donald trump from his city. he tweeted this. saint petersburg would ban trump until "we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all trumps." >> the san bernadino shooters took target practice at a gun range. they also believe the couple had been radicalized for quite some time n a chilling twist authorities also disclosed that syed farook's coworkers at the county health department underwent active shooter training in the same conference room where farook and his wife tashfeen malik killed 14 people. it was not immediately clear whether farook attended a similar session late last year. >> the pennsylvania state troop here was shot on the vine street expressway is making progress. doctors surgically removed the bullet lodged in trooper pat casey's shoulder. the 31-year-old underwent an outpatient procedure at hahnemann university hospital yesterday. the bullet will now be used as evidence against a 17-year-old charged in the highway shootout. trooper casey is resting at home this morning. former philadelphia eagle michael vick will be in harrisburg today. the nfl quarterback will meet with state lawmakers about his pet protection bill. it would allow first responders to break into cars to rescue cats and dogs without leaving crews liable for the damage. since his 2009 release from prison for dog here is how the numbers have been going. it's been rather mild as you know. on saturday we had a high of 51. little better on sunday, 53. yesterday we hit 57. today we're getting just a little bit closer to the average high of 48 but still talking about temperatures above average and wait until you see the seven day. we're really spiking up there. today's high 50 degrees. no weather related problems, just sunshine and clouds today. by 8:00 a.m., about 41. by 11:00, 45. by 2:00 p.m., 50 degrees and coming down from that at 5:00 p.m. about 48 degrees so a chilly start, a nice afternoon, just not quite as mild as it was yesterday. we've got this area of low pressure off the coast so it's pulling a lot of clouds out with it that we saw late yesterday and we're going see sunshine and clouds. tomorrow high pressure moves right back in again. we've got this front that's still out to the west so it starts to get a little milder ahead of it, partly sunny skies and 53 degrees. feeling stay on bridge street in royersford instead of linfield trap which will be shut down as it has been during the daytimes for about the last week. still have that drainage problem in upper merion by roberts elementary school. probably want to avoid croton road. stick with gulph road or upper gulph road as some alternates around that. and a couple other water main breaks this morning. there's still the one in worcester township blocking off township line road. to get around that stay down there on germantown pike. also getting word of a new one in blue bell along yet road at when it man drive. we're having issues this morning in northampton county along 78. the westbound lanes are blocked at morgan hill road, that's exit 75. these are the westbound drivers, westbound traffic coming in from warren county, new jersey, completely parked because all westbound lanes of 78 are shut down. if that's your route, you want to stay up on 22 as an alternate this morning. that's going to be a much better bet through northampton county. time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app. in delco chester park drive closed because of long term construction but a ramp from 95 northbound to the blue route northbound that was shut down overnight is reopened for your morning commute. they changed some of the barriers around there so we're hoping for better traffic situation. tam. >> all right, thank you, matt. developing overnight an air france crew diverted a flight from san francisco that was bound for paris. the pilot made an emergency landing in montreal as a precaution due to an unspecified anonymous threat. all passengers and crew members are safe and officials are inspecting the plane. new this morning, the driver of an overturned school bus has been arrested on suspicion of driving while high on drugs. look at all that damage. this happened in boulder county colorado yesterday. eight students ranging in age from seven to 15 were on board when that bus rolled over. five students and the female driver were sent to the hospital. >> new this morning, pope francis opened the holy doors of saint peter's basilica. this is video of the pope opening the big bronze doors. he capped the celebration and special mass in a rain soaked saint peter's square and formally opened his revolution of tenderness. millions of pilgrims are expected to
