through the day probably a mix of sun and some clouds and temperatures really looking g now, we're cool to start out as it is october after all. 61 degrees in philadelphia, 56 in allentown, 59 in reading, 56 in trenton. only 52 degrees currently in millville and a five and a nine in sea isle citily as we head out the door to maybe get that car started, we're probably still in the upper 50's between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock. very light winds, high clouds, cool but pretty comfortable overall. as we head through the day it is looking good later on. 61 by 9 o'clock but by noon up to 70. 75 by 3 o'clock and we're going to get a high of 76 degrees around 3:30 or 4 o'clock this afternoon. of course as the sun starts to get lower toward the horizon temperatures will dip and we'll be back close to the 60's. late week rain. i'll have details on that coming up, karen. >> all right dave let's hit the roads right now and see what's happening. we're looking live at i-95 at girard. we are clear, dry and the construction is cleared so looking pretty good right now. southbound traffic headed towards center city. no problem, no delay. on the roosevelt boulevard very light volume southbound traffic just a few cars headed towards the schuylkill. but north of here both ways between rhawn and strahle we continue to have that construction blocking the express lanes so you can use the local lanes. that's out there until 6 o'clock as always. northeast extension northbound approaching lansdale we've got a new accident. it's blocking the left lane right now. expect a little slowing as you approach lansdale. and southbound approaching quakertown watch for some construction crews out there also blocking the right lane in this area. mercer county, 295, both ways between i-195 and route one we have construction out here blocking a lane as well as on route 29 near calhoun street blocking the left lane until 6 o'clock. lots of construction crews out there at this early hour but roads in pretty good shape. matt and erin. >> thanks karen. the search is under way for the men who beat and shot a transgender woman to death. whether this will be considered a hate crime is still under investigation. "action news" reporter eva pilgrim is live in front of police headquarters with the latest. eva. >> reporter: matt, a transgender woman was beaten and shot to death by a group of men in a logan park. this morning police are still trying to figure out why the men attacked her. >> right in you we don't have any motive. we don't know if it's potentially a hate crime, if it was a robbery. we really don't know. >> reporter: what we do know, around 2:30 yesterday morning police say keisha jenkins was dropped off at this park at 13th and wingohocking. a group of males followed her into the park and began beating her. >> was assaulted by five or six unidentified males. during that assault, one of the males pulled out a gun and while the victim was on the ground shot the victim twice. >> reporter: police are looking for the driver who dropped off jenkins as they try to figure out why she was in the area. police say she lived in north philadelphia, her family in south philadelphia. neighbors say the park is well known for prostitution. >> at night it's usually guys dressed up like women walking up and down old york road and in the park. >> reporter: police are searching the area for surveillance cameras. so far no images or video have been released. now, there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. if you have any information, you're asked to call philadelphia police. at police headquarters, eva pilgrim, channel6 "action news." >> all right, thanks so much eva. we could learn more today about the discovery of a woman's body inside a south jersey park. a person walking in roebling park in hamilton township mercer county found the remains in the weeds. police say the woman appears to have been in here 40's. right now investigators say it's unclear how she died but her death appears to be a homicide. >> ♪ >> new this morning, crews have shut down roads due to a water main break in the frankford section of philadelphia. the action cam was there as crews worked on the broken main. this happened at 1:00 a.m. on frankford avenue near harrison street. the leak caused the road to buckle. the southbound lanes are closed while the water department crews work to repair the main. there are no reports of water service interruptions. >> a 17-year-old is still in custody after a gun scare that caused a lockdown on the community college of philadelphia. but there's still no sign of a gun. it all started yesterday with a dispute between the teen and a student in front of ccp. the 17-year-old then allegedly pulled a gun and fled into a campus building. this prompted a lockdown while police looked for the suspect. the lockdown has since ended and classes are set to resume on a normal schedule today. >> ♪ >> we have new information this morning on the mass shooting at umpqua community college in oregon. it has an eerie parallel to the 2012 sandy hook massacre in connecticut. both shooters lived solitary lives with mother whose shared their fascination with firearms. and both of the moms amassed weapons and took their sons to shooting ranges. oregon authorities say chris harper mercer and his mother owned 13 weapons despite his mental health issues. >> 5:06 now. funeral arrangements have been set for the late jerry mondesire. mondesire passed away over the weekend at the age of 65. a viewing will be held next tuesday october 13th at the savan funeral home at 12th and brown streets. the next say a celebration of life as much at bright hope baptist church at 12th and cecil b. moore. >> a plaque will be dedicated for sergeant robert wilson, iii. wilson lost his life back in march during a shootout with would be robbers at the game stop store on north street. wilson had gone to the store for a security check ton buy his son a game. prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the accused killers. >> a nice stretch of weather ahead. >> yeah, no kidding, nice today and nice tomorrow. i was satellite shows you that there are some high clouds passing through the region early. we'll probably get some sun poking through these and at times today we'll have a lot of sunshine and occasionally mixing with some of those clouds. so we'll call it sun and clouds up in the lehigh valley, pretty bright i think. 74 degrees, too, for high. nice and pleasant up in allentown and easton and bethlehem and 68 degrees at the shore. cooler. that sun and clouds mix likely but still very nice and a great afternoon for a stroll on the boards. then in philadelphia, 76 degrees is your warm high, sun mixing with some high clouds. nice conditions out there with humidity behaving itself and winds out of the northwest at five to 10 miles per hour. not all that much problem with wind today. as we roll through the day, still cool. by 8 o'clock. but up to 67 by 11 o'clock and then we'll spend most of the afternoon in the mid 70's with that high of 76 probably around 3:30 or 4 o'clock this afternoon. tomorrow we still have high pressure in control. little bit more of a flow coming down out of the north will knock that number down to 73 degrees but we're actually going have even more sunshine tomorrow and still very pleasant conditions. then the next weather feature is going to be this warm front-cold front combination. the bulk of the moisture from that will pass us to the north but we'll see starting friday afternoon into friday night at least some light rain around. looks like only about a quarter inch. unfortunately timing isn't great if you have plans on friday night. still not too bad though. at this point we are very likely dry in time for the weekend. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, we are looking at a high of 76 today, nice and warm. and then tomorrow sunny and pleasant and a high of 73. on friday, we zoom to 79 with some sunny breaks early but then the clouds increase ahead of that next frontal boundary and we wind up with some light rain arriving at some point during the afternoon and extending into friday night. the latest model suggestions have clouds in the morning on saturday but drying out very quickly and during the day clouds to sun. i've got the parkinson's walk in the morning and then after that temple football, the homecoming game at lincoln financial field. it will be coop he will or saturday, 66 degrees but no problems weather-wise other than that. and then sunday looks great for the eagles next home game, 68 degrees, a fair amount of sunshine there. and monday sunny and nice, 72 degrees. throwing some love to the philadelphia chester county. late yesterday that bridge reopened, route 23 valley forge road is now open at this point between moore hall drive and mcavoy lane. 20,000 people use this bridge every day. it was closed since late april so they reopened a little earlier. your first morning commute it's open ready to go. northeast extension northbound here approaching lansdale we do have this accident out here blocking the left lane a little slowing. you want to expect if you're traveling on the northeast extension approaching lansdale. let's go to your commuter traffic report. checking some of the suburbs in new jersey and i'm not seeing anybody reporting any problems here in voorhees, gibbsboro, somerdale bellmawr near route 42, kind of a smooth sale early on. no weather related problems so that's good news. 61 degrees currently in philadelphia. we're in the mid to upper 50's in a lot of the suburbs like 56 in allentown, 59 in reading, 58 in wilmington, 59 in zeal aisle city. if you remember the past couple days we've been in the low 40's starting you off so temperatures in some spots nearly about 10 degrees or so above what they were yesterday morning so it's not quite as chilly headed jersey priest is accused of pointing a musket at an eight-year-old over a football rivalry. the reverend kevin carter entered his not guilty plea yesterday in hackensack. carter an avid new york giants and the boy who roots for the dallas cowboys were talking about football shortly before the incident. the musket was never loaded but prosecutors say whether you're joking or not, you just can't point a gun at someone. a brutal attack in louisiana was caught on camera. new orleans police are trying to identify two women seen beating up a man and stealing his wallet in the french quarter. one woman punches the 51-year-old, knocking him to the ground while the other went through his pockets. the video also shows a passerby pausing to look at the robbery in progress before proceeding to just walk away. the victim suffered minor injuries. >> the eagles don't just need a win, they need a win and a reason to feel good about themselves. they host the saints on sunday. the birds will face them a bit banged up. a group of key players stood along the sidelines during practice yesterday including byron maxwell, jason peters and lane johnson. despite the one and three start and some fans seeing this season already a loss, the eagles still believe they can turn things around. sixers opened their preseason play against the wizards. jahlil okafor looks like the real deal. mothers to breastfeed. since 2007 it's been a 50 percent increase in the number of hospitals that that helped women start breastfeeding within an hour after birth. the cdc found two-thirds of enjoy it. new on "action news" a dispute between two louisiana neighbors ended with one shooting down a drone. erin hernandez said he was flying his $1200 remote controlled chopper when the neighbor shot it down. hernandez says he uses the drone to take pick hers of the landscape. the neighbor had voiced objections to the drones flying over their land on numerous occasions calling it an invasion of their privacy. police are investigating the incident. >> yeah, they could put cameras on those things. i can see why they're a little nervous. let's talk about this thing in the morning buzz. so a college student from the university in new york loses her i.d. and then it's sort of pops up on twitter courtesy of tom hanks. this is a guy that founded --, this happened at fordham university. the actor finds this and this is the picture he tweeted. he put his finger over the last name to sort of protect her privacy but basically said, hey, lauren, found your student i.d. in the park. if you off to a nice start across the region. looks like we have some high clouds but probably not thick enough to knock out the sun early on. as we roll through the day it will be a sun with occasional wilmington, 52 in millville, 59 in sea isle city. as we head out to catch school bus looks like it will stay on the cool side. temperatures probably in the upper 50's between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock but with light winds and that sun starting to break through really not too bad. and as we roll into the school day and the workday it gets even better. by 8 o'clock we may slip back down the 59 but then 70 degrees by noon. and by 3 o'clock, 75 with a nice high today of 76 degrees, probably around 3:30 or 4:00 and we may still be holding onto the 70-degree mark at 6 o'clock. so a gorgeous day
