suv sitting in someone's front yard and "action news" learns that another vehicle may have been involved. we have the full story this afternoon. chad pradelli is live. >> detectives arrived in this west oak lane neighborhood and continued to interview the people that lived on the block. the accident happened at 9:00. the victim an 83-year-old man was doing yard-work when a vehicle lost control around this corner on andrews and went through fencing and into the victim. >> the blue suv jumped the curb and slammed into the 83-year-old who had little time to react. the blue suv was chasing a white car down andrews avenue. >> we don't foe if there was drag racing or road rage or a combination of both. >> i came out the door to tell the guy, trying to get my phone to work and the guy was jumping out of the car, they jumped out and ran down ogontz. >> the victim was identified as joe williams a guy that lived with his wife who liked to take care of his property now liltered with trash. >> that is his morning routine. >> thank is what he does? >> every day. >> he will have significant recovery. >> the blue suv is located at his house a few blocks from the crash scene and giving detectives conflicting accounts. >> he did not give indication he was driving at this time. and again at this time, police have no clue on the second vehicle or possible vehicle, that white car they don't have a make or model. they are scouring the neighborhood as we speak hoping to find surveillance video to shed more light on this accident. chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." thank you. turning now to the deadly train derailment in washington state, federal investigators are trying to find out why an amtrak train was going over 50 miles per hour over the speed limit when it derailed yesterday south of seattle. at least three people died as cars from the train spilled on to the highway below and some dangling above. more than 100 people were injured as well. the sped limit on the curb is 30 miles per hour but the data recorder in the back roque motive shows the train going 0-miles per hour. more than 50 over the speed limit. workers brought in a massive crane to remove the locomotive. and one eagle scout came across the scene and sprung into action. >> i just like grabbed the dude's hand and was rubbing his back and just like -- just talking to him. >> pretty incredible effort and local doctors stepping in to help first responders in triage tents. again, 13 of its train cars derailed in this tragic accident. the big question, positive train control, or ptc a system that automatically slows down a train if it senses whether it's going to fast. it was installed on that section of the tracks but not yet operational. >> philadelphia detectives are releasing surveillance video of a violent armed robbery over the weekend. it was just before 5:00 sunday morning when one of two suspects pulled out the rival outside of a kensington 7-eleven. the two men ordered workers to open the safe and get on the floor. the suspect's turned to the register and forced the workers into the back office and made them empty their pockets. cyclists are once again calling for protection for bikers in center city. they gathered this morning standing in between the traffic and bike lanes on 13th street near pine. that is where they want city leaders to install new barriers. that is where a cyclist was killed two weeks ago. the driver is being ticketed and not charged with any crime. plenty of blue skies today. we are loving it. meteorologist, melissa magee, turnpike during the heart of the morning rush today. a double tractor trailer, three cars and a dump truck collides in the westbound lane. police had to block off all the lanes at 6:00 today to clean up the crash and the truck spilled diesel fuel all over the roadway. >> in bordentown township. a ford mustang crashed on the exit ramp of the new jersey turnpike. the wreckage was put on a tow truck at 8:00 this morning. the three juveniles ran away but were caught later. the mustang was reported stolen from willingboro. for more on the roads, it's time for the "action news" traffic report. an snow from a storm that actually occurred on december 19th and 20th, that was the third largest snowfall storm overall here in philadelphia's history. right now hard pressed to find a white christmas with numbers well above average, 53 in quakertown and 46 in lake harmony and new holland 55. and the middle 50s as well off to the south and west. 56 in hammonton and tuckahoe 50 and off the coast in surf city. 52 and off the coast in smyrna temperatures in the upper 50s. here is satellite 6 along with action radar you can see we have a partly cloudy sky and sunshine overhead today enough to get our numbers well above average and tonight it's clear and quiet underneath a partly cloudy sky with a west wind 10 to 18 miles per hour. and 33 in allentown and at the freezing mark tonight in sustained 10 to 20 miles per hour. so windchills are really key. 8:00 in the morning, number as long the 95 corridor are only in the 30s and the 20s north and west. as we get into tomorrow afternoon, they released a bit more information about the molts before the stolen suv slammed into a utility pole. we are live now with what investigators are saying this afternoon john. >> reporter: they are not saying a lot. they emphasize there is still an ongoing investigation into the threat of the stolen car as well as it's crash, still a lot police can't say or won't say at this point in time. they did release a little information on where the vehicle was stroll enfrom but the people there say we can't tell you anything about it because the police told us not to talk to anyone. >> police say that yesterday's incident when they were told that a green suv was stolen from the green pick lily inn. while traveling to the location on southbound 206, troopers saw the stolen yucon going north. and they were traveling at a high rate of speed. they did not say how the vehicle ended up wrapped around the pole in tabernacle. the deadly incident a topic of conversation for people that live in this rural low crime area. >> there is always sadness when people lost their lives and apparently that one girl was a teenager. but you know, should have just pulled over and responded to the officers. >> they aren't local? >> i think they are local. i don't think their names are released yet. >> the thinking here is that the victims were local here but have not been identified yet. there was an initial report that one of the three was a female teenager but at this point they cannot confirm that. there is still a lot we do not know about what occurred yesterday. john rawlins, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. meanwhile, police in delaware county are looking for a bank robber who used a gun and suspicious device. police say that the armed suspect walked into the malvern federal savings bank at 1:30 and told a worker he had a bomb and after getting cash the robber escaped leaving a device behind. the bomb squad was called in to investigate and we are waiting to hear what that device was. meanwhile, police are asking the public to find a man that set several fires outside a port richmond building. surveillance cameras caught the arsonist lighting up two dumpsters and a pile of trash. they were set on aramingo avenue and the firefighters were close by and put out the fire before anybody was hurt. sfru information on the crime contact east detectives. an accident shut down a portion of i-295 in burlington county for more than five hours this morning. chopper 6 hd was over the scene in the northbound lanes in mansfield township. where a tractor trailer jackknifed before 7:00 spilling fuel all over the road. and the accident involved two cars and nobody was hurt and all lanes were reopen by noon. >> turning the attention again to the accuweather forecast. all right firefighters arrived with toys in tow to help young children with autism celebrate the holidays. they were greeted to sort and deliver over 100 donated toys to kids at spin in northeast philadelphia. designed to meet the needs of children with autism. they took home stockings full of free dog and cat toys and treats. the animal shelter distributed the donations to clients of the loafs and fishes holding strong for a while there. back to "whatever" folks 45 and older find it annoying but people under the age of 45 are not that annoyed by it. this is really the work of the maris college for expressway i-76 hefty delays and this afternoon is no exception. in both directions by the conshohocken curves busy along 76 and a lot of volume, no accidents or disalled vehicles. and 95 is busy, 11 miles per hour on the northbound side by penn's landing. but at least better news in delco erik the crash that was making a mess of things along the south 1 media bypass through the granite run mall. and normal afternoon volume in that neck of the woods and lost our crash in westchester at gay street and penn straight and tire plus and a crash at german town pike at st. jude and the nativity. and a bad crash is shutting down allentown road in afternoon and shoe craft road is an alternate but as you head to the lehigh valley look for the crash on 209, 14 miles per hour there in allentown. and runnemede along 10th avenue but that cleared out of the way. >> thank you matt. we are following breaking news here out of west philadelphia. where police are on the scene of what they are calling a murder investigation. they say they arrived at the 5300 block of addison street to find an 85-year-old man unresponsive and with multiple stab wounds, the investigators are inside of the home as we take this live look. you see a police cruiser there on the street as investigators are inside of this home on the 5300 block of addison street. this happening around 2:30 today. "action news" as you can see pulling up to the scene there to further get more details and again the 85-year-old man found dead inside of this home stabbed multiple times. this happening just after 2:30. again we have a crew arriving on the scene we see that from our chopper 6 hd view here. we'll pass along information online and on air. all right meteorologist, melissa magee, as we hurdle towards christmas and feels more like spring around here. we have changes coming and tomorrow we are back down to normal. and then something else. >> we talk about the details, the picture outside. the ac cam was outside earlier today. right along the ben franklin parkway looking at the art museum. a nice shot and comfortable conditions today with a high in philadelphia in at 58 degrees, here is sky 6 hd looking at a beautiful picture of the center city skyline on our tuesday evening from our temple university camera it's quiet across the region and a good idea to get the car washed and get the car cleaned. the car wash alert overhead. the best chance of finding precipitation is on saturday and then a 60% chance of finding some precipitation across the region so really three good days of a clean car before changes head our way. looking at the numbers across the region. 57 in philadelphia. 46 to the northern and west in the poconos. and 56 in reading and allentown 56 in trenton and the coast in cape may coming in at 52 in dover and beach haven 52. satellite 6 along with action radar showing you we have got a partly cloudy skies in the region. and a frontal boundary draped across the great lakes and back across the interior northeast and back towards the southeast as well. we won't find a lot of precipitation with this as it works its way to the south and east and will ignite cooler air. and the rest of tonight partly cloudy and brisk and cooler, dropping down to 33 in the suburbs and 40 in philadelphia for the overnight low. the setup for us on our wednesday. not a bad day. high temperature of 45 in philadelphia and 42 in allentown and 46 in wilmington and 46 in cape may. the air temperature not bad but the problem is we have a northwesterly wind at 8 to 16 miles per hour. and windchills tomorrow afternoon will be in the 30s. and then as we get into our weekend and closer to the holiday a battle zone going on we have bitter arctic air to the north and west with this high pressure in control. initially we have warm air along the coast. we are tracking area of low pressure riding up the frontal boundary as we get into saturday. in the wake of the area of low pressure coming on through we have a push of colder air moving on through. and then another area of low pressure sets up into sunday night into christmas day. the big question is where does the second storm track and what does that precipitation look like as we get into sunday night into christmas day. we'll interest to fine tune that forecast because there are players in the air. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast showing you a chilly breeze and high temperature of 45 and first day of winter 41 feeling more like it by then and a high temperature of 47. we are warm on saturday. a high up to 62. with rain at times and on sunday sun to clouds, high temperature of 49. christmas day we are watching the coast, a high of 43 and the eagles playing too. a lot going on that day. brisk and chilly high of 37. we'll have to fine tune the precipitation we see. up and down, merry christmas. >> that is the good part about it. okay clutter free last minute gifts we'll talk about that in what's the deal. really? "action news" delaware valley's leading news program. with jaime apody, meteorologist, cecily tynan, rick williams and monica malpass. gunshots rang out for a vigil of a murder victim in wilmington. now the victim's family is pleading with information to catch the gunman. monica is off and sharrie williams is joining us and the big story on "action news" is the latest on the tragic shooting from this past weekend. police say that the young man killed was an innocent bystanders. bob brooks is live now. you spoke with the victim's uncle? >> reporter: i did. his uncle is a man whose worked down here in wilmington for a long time to try and prevent things like this from happening. sometimes bad things happen to good people. i can tell you that is what happened here. >> the young people please hear my voice. enough is enough. put the guns down. >> it was a tough conversation to have with wilmington duffy sandals, he is part of duffy's help. but the talk was not about the great work over the years but his nephew was shot and killed in wilmington this past saturday. >> my nephew was home from college for a week or so. >> ironically samuel says his nephew was attending a vigil for a friend that was shot and killed.
