Passengers leaving philadelphia are no longer allowed to buy tickets on board trains during certain hours. So, heres was need to know. Between 3 00 p. M. And 6 30 p. M. , passengers must show their tickets or passes before boarding. This is happening right now for the very first time, all fares will be collected or validated before a customer can even get to the platform area at temple jefferson, suburban, 30th street and university city. Septa says its been receiving complaints about people getting free rides because conductors havent been having enough time to check all of the tickets on overcrowded trains. Because it was our passengers who complained to septa about the fact that some of the passengers werent paying. So, it came to us from our riders because theres so many people on our trains that the conductors cant get on the train and off the train safely and collect fares at the same time. Now, this is all temporary. It is a new situation thats part of septas work around as it deals with the loss of more than 100 rail cars that have been grounded as you know by that structural defect thats been causing a lot of delays. Septa says its working on a fix. It hopes to have its full fleet back up and running this fall but in the meantime if you ride the Regional Rail just know certain hours before the day you do need to have your ticket before you get on the train. Sharrie. Alicia thanks. A bear has popped up in a popular park in delaware county. Now wildlife officials are trying to catch it before anyone gets hurt. Action News Reporter Jeanette Reyes has details now live in Upper Providence township. Hi, jeanette. Reporter hi, shar he re. A lot of residents are on the lookout for this bear. It was spotted first over the weekend along providence road not too far from where im standing, but police are more concerned about what curious residents might do when they see the bear than what the bear might do to them. I was kind of excited about it. I thought it was kind of cool. Reporter theres an unexpected guest in town roaming the streets of this Upper Providence township neighborhood near ridley creek state park. Dana pounds says she thinks it may be why her dog has been acting strangely lately. When we were first told the next day i kind of walked the whole farm to see if there was fences down because we were told it was coming this way from gradyville. Reporter local police say theyve confirmed a bear sighting reported friday night just north of gradyville road at providence road. Surprised i would say. I dont believe that its all that uncommon for a bear to be in this area. However, it is close to their mating season and they can travel quite some distance so most likely the bear is coming down here to mate. Reporter chief david montello says the news has been spreading like wildfire among residents but hes hoping people are sharing what not to do if they come across the glare if theyre feeding or cubs are around it could become aggressive. Its well known and documentd that bears are not very aggressive towards people. If left alone most of the time theyre going to walk around but we would rather err on the side of caution and just tell out in to approach it. Reporter pound says capture the moment but use your common sense. Dont feed it. Its not the bear. You wouldnt go up to any wild animal. Probably dont try to take a selfie with it either. Well, maybe. Reporter and officials tell me that residents do have to understand and most of them know they live near wildlife so this is to be expected. They believe this bear is just passing through and shouldnt be a problem. They set down one trap so far. It hasnt been a nuisance. If that does become the case and it starts destroying property then theyll rethink their strategy. Reporting live in Upper Providence township, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Brian and sharrie. Keep an eye out for the bear. Jeanette, thank you. It is time now for the action news traffic report. Matt pelman keeping his eyes on the roads as always for us. Hes live in the action News Traffic Center with the first look. Hey, matt. Hi, brian and sharrie. Traffic is more bearable than it was last week along 95 but still something to growl about as you head out southbound by Philadelphia International airport. It was an accident involving a taxicab. They actually just towed away the taxi within the last 30 seconds. This is southbound right by the airport which is right over here in the inner drive. You can see police and penndot are still on the scene, so youre going to tap the brakes as you come away from the girard point bridge and head toward delco but its not an awful situation at this point. Also have a crash on the northbound side of route one as you head toward bucks county and toward the pennsylvania turnpike. Its northbound at southampton road in the inner drive. There are restrictions there and just single digit speeds coming north of woodhaven as a result. And weve had a couple accidents this afternoon here in that mount laurel along 295 northbound. Still one on the side here approaching route 73 but you can see thats not causing a huge delay at the moment. Southbound delay on 295 is just starting to kick in. And alicia just told us about the fare collection changes that just started over an hour ago on the septa Regional Rails. Plan to we have plenty of delays cropping up already and a little bit of good news. On the Lansdale Doylestown 39 theres a 5 30 straight that will express from temple. It is time for a check of the accuweather forecast. Lets send it over to cecily tynan as we track these showers moving in cecily. Thats right, brian and sharrie and right now we do have some downpours, mainly across kent county delaware and Cumberland County, new jersey, and they are packing a pretty good punch. This kind of broken cell moving through bayside, cedarville, its heading towards mauricetown and its all very slowly sinking down to the southeast and this does have some very heavy downpours and the fact is that we do have some very high humidity levels. Actually i want to go back to that graphic and this is what is causing the heavy downpours. You can see another cell thats heading towards dover really riding right along route eight and the atmosphere is ripe for those heavy downpours. It feels like a rainforest out there. The dewpoints most of our viewing area above 70 degrees. In dover the dewpoint, thats about as high as it gets in this region, 82 degrees. So, any of the showers can pull down a lot of rain in a short period of time. Its not the heat, though, its the humidity. Temperaturewise its actually relatively cool out there. Philadelphia is 77. Allentown the same. Trenton 76. It is warmer down to the south. Dover 82. Millville 80 and cape may p point currently 80 degrees. Satellite6 along with action radar showing the activity is scattered. Its not all that organized so its one of the situations not everyone will get the downpours but this very slow moving low pressure is sinking down to the south. So, theres nothing to really steer the storm. So, they can develop and they can sit there for awhile. So, this is what to expect into tonight. Some downpours, again, they will be slow moving and this means we could get a quick one to 3 inches of rain in a short period of time. Can cause some localized flash flooding. Thats why we have those Flash Flood Watches posted north of philadelphia until 6 oclock tomorrow morning and areas to the south where its warmer and the dewpoints are lier, this is where we could be seeing some gusty thunderstorms. So, future tracker showing as we head through the evening hours around 7 oclock we still have some activity across the Lehigh Valley, south jersey and delaware heading overnight well still see he some across the northwest suburbs and an overnight tonight lots of clouds early tomorrow morning a few scattered showers but generally we will be drying things out as we head into the afternoon with some peeks of sunshine. The humidity levels will still be pretty high tomorrow. But then they will be dropping as we head into wednesday. In the meantime, it is Hurricane Season and a Hurricane Hunter will be flying into this to investigate. You can see this wave thats heading towards jamaica. Its really starting to get organized and the National Hurricane center is giving it an 80 percent chance of becoming Tropical Storm earl bringing jamaica and the Cayman Islands some very heavy rain. No threat, though, to the u. S. So, the four day at 4 00 showing tomorrow it stays on the humid side. Morning clouds, some late breaks of sunshine. Could have a morning shower as well with a high of 82 degrees. Wednesday the pick of the week. A breath of fresh air. Low humidity, comfortable temperatures, good amount of sunshine, 84. Thursday also looking pretty good. Seasonably warm, 86 degrees but friday the humidity begins to creep back up. 88 degrees and next weekend looks like its going get hot for one of the days and it will get stormy as well. Ill talk more about that in the accuweather 7day forecast. Welcome to august. There you go. Look forward to wednesday. Thank you cecily. Its a construction project thats been going on for years now and its finally about to wrap up. Weve got details when drivers will finally get a break coming up at 4 30. Storm tracker6 live double scan showing philadelphia right now, we are rain free but weve got a cluster of some pretty intense downpours working through smyrna and dover across the delaware bay fortescue and you can see how theyre kind of just sitting there. Weve had 31 lightning strikes the past 15 minutes. Some of them come with gusty winds but the main threat are the heavy downpours. So, we can flip this over and we can show the rainfall rates and where you see that purple color, that is rain falling at the rate of about 3inches or more an hour. So, this does have a potential for flash flooding especially areas north of philadelphia that got lit with three to 6 inches of rain over the weekend. So the National Weather service has now extended the Flash Flood Watch for our northern suburbs until 6 oclock tomorrow morning. So, this includes Berks Montgomery bucks mercer counties, the Lehigh Valley and the poconos. We could get another quick one to 2 inches of rain and the fact that the ground is saturated that can cause some flash flooding. Temperaturewise though, the humidity is high but the temperatures arent. We have winds out of the northeast so thats capping temperatures in the 70s. Philadelphia 77. The same in allentown. Wilmington 78. Trenton 76. And the Atlantic City airport currenting 78 degrees. So, satellite6 along with action radar showing you can see some of this activity is bubbling up and im really tracking this scattered line of some storms developing near harrisburg. This will gradually continue to work to the east and that will bring us the potential for more gusty downpours as we head through the evening hours. So, the next 12 hours very unsettled this evening. The activity will begin to taper off after midnight. Not everyone will get the storms but those who do will get a our, so do be careful with that flash flooding potential and then overnight some patchy fog developing, 65 in the suburbs, 70 for center city. We keep the humidity tomorrow. It wont be quite as intense but dewpoints generally in the upper 60s. 82 degrees for the high as this High Pressure tries to nudge in so that means morning clouds and spotty showers will giv sunshine but then that High Pressure really flexes its muscles on wednesday. And that will bring us more sunshine lower humidity. If you are down the shore tomorrow though you wake philly whats up a fog with clouds, some low fog, some afternoon sunshine but with these winds out of the northeast that on shore wind its not going to be that warm, temperatures in the jersey beaches, the up 70s delaware beaches in the low 80s. That ocean temperature 78 degrees. Heading into wednesday High Pressure right over us, that will bring us brighter skies, low humidity with a high of 84 degrees and looks like a comfortable air mass sticks around on thursday as well. The exclusive accuweather 7day forecast. Waking up with clouds and fog, a spotty shower possible then late breaks of sunshine. Still on the muggy side with a high of 82 degrees. Wednesday, though, the pick of the week. Low humidity, dewpoints generally in the low 60s. The afternoon high not bad, 84 degrees. Good amount of sunshine. Thursday pretty nice as well. Seasonably warm 86. We add the humidity on friday, 88 degrees. As musikfest begins and then heading into the weekend, saturday hot and humid, 91 degrees. A front rolling through will likely bring us a round of thunderstorms. It looks like it will be clearing the coast on sunday. Sunday a pretty nice day. Sun mixing with clouds, 87 degrees and monday partly sunny with a high of 87, so that humidity will be leaving us for two days wednesday and thursday glorious. Its going to feel so different from today. All right. Cecily, thanks. Coming up, high heels that dont hurt. Ooh. Marcopolo marco. polo marco. polo marco. polo marco. si . Polo marco. polo scusa .
