Lets go over to meteorologist cecily tynan in for adam joseph live at the big board. Cecily i think youre tracking snow today, right. April fools. Right, april fools. I am tracking some very cold air and gusty winds over the way over the weekend. It could be a few snow showers but its not a big snowstorm but double scan live showing that there is a cold front moving in and ahead of it weve got a broken line of some showers and thunderstorms. Right now we do have a thunderstorm in parts of berks county right over 422. No lightning strikes associated with this so its beginning to weaken. Some heavy downpours associated with that but the whole cold front will move through in the evening hours but ahead of it it feels like summer. We have winds out of the south so philadelphia is 79 degrees. I know reading right now is 81 degrees. You can see washington, d. C. Its 82. Behind this system quite a bit cooler. 62 in pittsburgh but theres another cold front waiting in the wings and that will bring us some big cool downs for the second half of the weekend but this is what to expect for the next few hours for your friday evening a broken line of thunderstorms with that cold front. So that means not everyone will get a storm. Those who do could have brief gusty winds, heavy downpours. Looks like it will be rolling through the i95 corridor between about 6 oclock and 8 oclock tonight so it will be having some impact on the evening commute but what happens tomorrow, another wave of low pressure develops along this. So this means weve got a gloomy start to the weekend. Saturday you see 8 oclock some showers across our region. Someone needs to answer that phone. And then weve got a stronger front that will be rolling through late on saturday night and this is the front that brings the cold air and the gusty winds potentially damaging winds. All right, it is time for a check of the accuweather forecast as we finally arrived at the weekend. Yes, a weekend, though, that will bring some more changes. Meteorologist cecily tynan is in for adam today. Hi, sharrie and brian. If youre hoping for a sunny quiet weekend weatherwise the not going happen. Weve got some major changes on the way. Double scan live showing first of all most of our region is rain free, sunny and warm. However, we are picking up some heavy downpours in parts of the Lehigh Valley and berks county. This one cell of reporting some gusty downpours has moved really across the northeast extension right now. Its heading to the northeast about 30 Miles Per Hour through the Lehigh Valley heading into Northampton County so chapman, nazareth, stocker town, all in the path. No lightning strikes with this but it does have some heavy downpours and we also have another cell in berks county. I showed this at the top of the newscast. This right now is getting close to hitting leesport crossing 322 also its moved between 422 and this is ahead of a cold front that will pass through tonight. The first of two and the second one will have a major punch. But ahead of it look at this, temperatures up near 80 degrees. Philadelphia 79, reading was 81 last hour, now down to 79 with some clouds. Wilmington 77. Trenton 77. Big change, though, cape may. You get those winds off the ocean of 20 degrees colder with a current temperature of 56 degrees and you may notice its a little bit on the humid side as well, kind of first time we felt this this season especially across parts of south jersey and delaware with dewpoints generally in the seventy six right now. So, satellite6 along with action radar showing we kind of have a sunshine sandwich kind of day. We woke up with the clouds with some showers, even some thunderstorms around 11 oclock with that first batch and then breaks of sunshine with that big warmup and heres that line ahead of a cold front that will pass through tonight. Again, a broken line of storms, not everyone will see them but those who do could have some heavy downpours. So, future tracker showing around 6 oclock, this is when the line gets very close to the i95 corridor. Temperatures still in the 70s and 60s. It moves off shore around 8 oclock but then what happens tomorrow away from low pressure develops a wave of low pressure develops along that front so that pulls the rain back in for the morning. Looks like a wet and gloomy start to the weekend. Temperatures in the 50s and 40s in the morning, then reaching the 60s by the afternoon with some breaks of sunshine but then a second cold front moves through late on saturday night, early sunday morning. This shows it pushing in around 1 oclock on sunday morning and what this will do is pull down some cold air and extremely high winds. So, the National Weather service has posted a high wind watch for our entire viewing area from midnight saturday through noon on sunday. Were looking at the potential for winds gusting 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour, not only will it create wind chills in the 20s and 30s, could also bring down some trees and power lines so we could have some localized damage. Association the four day at 4 00 showing tomorrow a gloomy start to the weekend, 62 degrees but some showers, especially the first half of the day. Otherwise mostly cloudy. Sunday is when we get those wicked winds, the high only 47 but you factor in those winds. Wind chills will be in the 20s and 30s. And then on monday, we bump it up to 65 degrees. Dont get used to it. Another cold front brings us another round of rain and then temperatures back down into the mid 40s on tuesday with a high of 45 degrees and i know adam haas has been talking about the Half Marathon were both running on sunday and theres about a 3mile uphill straight into the head wind so ill be there battling. Its going to be quite a challenge to say the least. Ill be thinking of you. Sunshine sandwich. Dont try to say that 10 times fast. Sounds good, though. Thank you, cecily. Those are winds out of the south but theres a cold front across central pennsylvania and behind it temperatures are in the 60s, so tomorrow is going to feel about 20 degrees cooler than today. The real cooldown, though, arrived on sunday with some gusty winds. But double scan live showing what were looking at ahead of this front is really a broken line of some storms. So, not everyone will see them. We have heavy downpours parts of the Lehigh Valley and parts of berks county and i am watching this developing right now northern maryland. This could skirt into Chester County within about the next hour. Weve had about 45 lightning strikes in this view over the past 15 minutes so we could have some lightning, some heavy downpours as that system pulls through. So, this is what to expect. The weekend will begin wet. The front stalls, another wave of low pressure develops along it so that brings us some showers especially the first half of the day tomorrow. But then theres a second front and this is the one that has the powerful winds. Were looking at wind gusts saturday night through the first half of the day on sunday 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour. So satellite6 along with action radar showing not everyone will see the thunderstorms. This is a broken line of storms that will be rolling through through the evening hours and then theres another low pressure thats down to the south over parts of georgia. What this means is we have a wet start to the week. Future tracker showing that cluster of storms rolling through the i95 corridor around 6 30 moving off the coast by about 11 oclock but tomorrow morning for the soccer games, for the races, i know theres a hot chocolate 15k, well it is going to be wet with showers around 8 oclock, especially i95 and areas southeast. The reason why something called the low level jet. This is what happens about 5,000 feet above the surface. Winds up to about 60 Miles Per Hour, so they could potentially be brought down behind that front and what this means is that we could have some damage. Could cause localized damage and it is going to create wind chills feeling like winter much future tracker showing 9 oclock on sunday morning as were warming up in wilmington for the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon, 24 degrees the wind chill, 25 in philadelphia, even in the afternoon wind chills generally only in the 30s.
