right now we've got lighter snow and this is pushing in from the west. it looks like areas to the south of philadelphia and a few areas out to the west just some light showers right now. it is snow and we're below freezing across the region so be careful out there if you get caught beneath some of this. it looks like south jersey along the bay, central delaware and areas to the west of philadelphia right now seeing a little bit of that. there's also a fair amount of cloud cover around this morning while i do think it's possible we'l we'll see some pes of sunshine today, additional snow showers pop into our northern and western areas later in the day and in through the evening hours. 27 degrees in philadelphia is your current temperature sits tt is cold on the way out the door. 24 degrees in allentown reading, 25 trenton and 30 degrees in cape may. winds are light this morning. here's how it's going to go today. 28 degrees under the clouds by 7 o'clock. a few snow showers around this morning. and then by noon 39 degrees. our high today is going to be 42 degrees at about 3 o'clock this afternoon through this period we're very likely dry in the i-95 corridor but the farther north you go into the region especially such around the lehigh valley and poconos you may still see some light snow falling. by 5 o'clock 38 degrees. we can't rule out a little rain shower in philadelphia and by 7 o'clock, 37 degrees. some small accumulations are possible this afternoon in particular up in allentown and the poconos. i'll go over that and we'll let you know what's coming next in the accuweather 7-day forecast. winter definitely feels like it's arrived now, though, hasn't it karen. >> yes, it has and not thrilled about the. yeah, if you saw a little bit that of dusting yesterday with those squalls that moved through and certainly with this morning out to the west, that we can see a little slick spot isn't the road so you want to watch nor although they're mostly dry. this is on the border montgomery and bucks county. 202 parkway at county line road so may see a few slick spots you can kind of see in the turn lanes so be careful about that. overall on the big picture no major injuries in kensington. looking pretty good on your majors blue route schuylkill i-95, mostly in the 40's and 50's. the overnight construction still has the vine street expressway blocked in both directions. so, watch for that. it should reopen within a half hour. one more live look. this is route 23 over 422 on 23 we do have some restrictions there on 422 eastbound construction blocks the right lane until 6 o'clock and you can see those crews on the scene now, tam. >> thank you, karen. >> ♪ president donald trump has fired acting attorney general sally yates. it comes after yates proclaimed that the justice department would not defend the travel ban against lawsuits. he had said she was not convinced that the president's order which suspends all immigration from seven majority muslim countries form 90 days was lawful. as well hundreds of american diplomats are protesting the immigration bat. press secretary sean spicer had this to say to them. >> i think that they should either get with the program or they can go. hold on, hold on. this is -- this is about the safety of america. >> trump immediately named long time federal prosecutor dana boente to replace yates. he says he'll enforce the immigration orderly. >> a knoll affected by the trump travel ban will join philadelphia mayor jim kenney for a news conference. their family members were sent back to syria hours after arriving in philadelphia. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at city hall with that story. annie. >> reporter: matt, aclu attorneys are expected to be there along with the attorneys who responded to the airport on saturday. they will address at the ongoing legal actions that they are now handling stemming from all of that on saturday. well, saturday attorneys be worked to free people affected by the travel ban at airports across the country including in philadelphia. some were detained others turned away. the assali is one of several families affected. six family members were sent back to syria this weekend hours after they arrived in philadelphia. their visas were revoked. they have a house waiting for them in allentown built for their arrival. they're members of an orthodox christian church which is a persecuted group syria. they just want the federal government to recognize their family's legal right to come to the u.s. >> they feel they were treated like criminals and it's not right. it's not our way. it's not the american way. >> reporter: now, the assalis say that their attorneys will take legal action today possibly per paining to their relatives' visas. another attorneys thinks they should file a civil suit against president trump. these are all things that they're going try to figure out over the next course of days since there was so much that was done on saturday. again with that legal action, many people are trying to figure out what the next steps are. for now reporting live at city hall, annie mccormick, channel6 "action news." tam, back to you. >> all right, annie, thank you for that. and police in be burlington county are trying to figure out what led to man's death t a 74-year-old man was found dead inside a home on hancock lane in willingboro yesterday afternoon. authorities remain tight lipped about the investigation. family members tell "action news" that police have not even given them any information on what happened. also in burlington county, one person was killed when a jeep and an suv collided in medford. it happened along tuckerton road at robin hill drive last night. the roads were slick there due to an evening snow squall. medics say the other people injured in the crash did not require an ambulance. ly. >> a grieving family is remember two sister who's were struck and killed as they crossed the roosevelt boulevard over the weekend. "action news" reporter christie ileto attended an emotional vigil last night. >> (crying). >> reporter: holding balloons of their favorite color, kimberly phillips and loraya braxton's grieving family stood at the intersection where they lost their lives. choking back tears their mother had some strong words for the man responsible. >> i i'm going let god handle him. the sisters 19 and 10 were crossing roosevelt boulevard in the crosswalk. he was trying to make a light that was turning yellow and was apparently under the influence. >> there are so many different options you can have. take an uber, take a taxi, private transportation. >> reporter: ruch fled the scene but was arrested around the corner from the crash. residents say this tragedy only highlights the constant pedestrian dangers along the busy road. >> they need to change the speed limit and they need to get someone out there. >> something that would be helpful to get people across the major divided highway. >> reporter: but family members say it was one man's bad choices that that robbed them of kimberly and loraya. what would you like the driver to know. >> he hurt us. he didn't kill two instent innot children, he killed a whole family. >> reporter: the driver faces an array of charges including homicide by vehicle under the influence. a funeral is set for both girls this saturday. reporting in northeast philadelphia, christie ileto channel6 "action news." >> collingdale police are investigating the shooting of a 13-year-old girl. the victim tells police she was at a basketball game at the community center on saturday when two boys started to fight. that altercation spilled outside. at some point a shot was fired. the victim a bystander told police she realized she was shot in the leg as she walked home. yesterday at the sharon hill school students say routine as much as seemed to be a bit more intense but school officials did not tell them about the shooting. >> one of my friends told me when i actually got into class. that's only how i knew. that was just a rumorly i never knew nobody got shot this week. >> police say they have interviewed two persons of interest. no charges have been filed yet. >> the fbi has a crystal clear picture of a center city bank robbery suspect. the fbi released these surveillance photos of the man. police say he held up the bb&t bank on market street. no one was hurt. a reward is now being offered for his capture. >> 4:39 now and new on "action news" a suspect attacks a bus driver but surveillance video shows a gm samaritan who steps in to zoo in washington notices a bobcat is missing from its enclosure. details immediately after the break. >> ♪ >> the smithsonian national zoo in washington is searching for a bobcat. ollie was last seen early yesterday morning. a few hours later a zookeeper summoned the bobcat for breakfast and ollie didn't show up at the table. animal care staff have closed the area around the bobcat. they hope by keeping people away ollie will return because, well, ollie will get hungry and nervous about not being in his normal how many times the cat is 25 pounds and nearly seven years old. bobcats general are not known to be aggressive to humans but some someone sees orange line zoo officials say do not approach, call someone. >> must have been a fun morning conference call. the snakes seem under the look here you can see that a lot of steadiest stuff is down to the south by dover delaware and is some of it moving in toward cape may as well and then up to the northern and western suburbs month really back toward lancaster county a bit of additional snow so you might catch a snow shower this morning and that one down south doesn't look extremely heavy but in bright shade of white shows you it's enough to coat the roads a little bit. careful if you get caught with that this morning. there's a bit more of that on the way to the northern and western suburbs later this morning and this afternoon. as we take a look outside we have sky6 and wilmington and starting out cloudy across most of the region and cold as well. your temperature currently in city of philadelphia 27 degrees. winds out of the west-southwest at 3 miles per hour. future tracker6 after we get finished with the early snow shower shows you that the rest of the day features snow mainly up to the north in the poconos and at times up in the lehigh valley. then later this afternoon with temperatures rising we'll value change to some rain showers in the immediate northern and western suburbs with again a spotty occasional snow shower up in the lehigh valley. and then at this time looks like we start to clear out and dry out a little bit later on in the evening hours. there's the chance, however, for a coating to an inch of snow by the time today is finished in places likely height ton down toward like lehighton and allentown. 29 degrees in philadelphia by 8 o'clock. cloudy skies, maybe a snow shower around. and then by 10 o'clock 33 degrees and by noon 39. it does look like we get well above freezing today to 42 degrees so if you're in one of those neighborhoods that got the snow squall yesterday we'll probably melt some of that light snow that's on your lawn. by 6 o'clock back down 37 degrees. again a rain shower can't be ruled out through the afternoon and evening. most of that is probably north of the i night. i-95 corridor. milder farther south up close to my 50 this afternoon this afternoon in dover. 47 millville 46 cape may up in allentown probably stuck in the 30's. the same story out in reading. and then tomorrow we wind up with temperatures not as bad in the morning. we're in the 20's this morning. tomorrow probably the 30's and 40's and in the afternoon we will see a nice surge with a mix of clouds and sun getting well up into the 40's in some neighborhoods tomorrow. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast going for that high of 42 this afternoon. occasionally there will be a rain or snow shower around. snow showers in the morning, in the afternoon some rain showers mixing input not a lot of precipitation overall and again the main area of accumulation will be up in those northern suburbs where it's a coating to an inch. back to 40 under the sun on thursday ground of ground hog day for fill in punxsutawney. friday high of though. saturday 33 and sunday in the afternoon and evening there does appear to be a chance of a wintry mix moving into the region. it could be rain at times given the. fact that we are going to get up to 37 degrees for a high but that will be a time period to watch and that there's a slt chance that that spills into monday morning. remember when we're not on the air you can get the later test on all of this wintry mix precipitation that we are in and out of as we go through the next six, seven days t by by going to 6abc/weather. look out for snow showers this morning and bobcats. >> i think the learning more about the suspect in that deadly mosque attack in quebec. the french canadian college student was known for far right nationalist views and support of the french rightist parliament the prime minister trudeau called it an act of terrorism against muslims. a newark new jersey man has been charged for attacking a bishop on saturday. the dramatic terrifying encounter was caught on camer camera. mish shop manuel cruz was leading mass when he was completely taken by surprise. a man dressed all in white walked toward the altar and then punched the priest in the mouth. the church was filled with officers who immediately took the suspect who is named charles mill near custody. >> a missouri man broke his cane while thwarting a and attack on a bus driver. rodney golden saw a man go after the driver. goldman got up from his seat and started beating the attacker with his cane. he hit the man so hard the cane broke and the attacker finally released the driver. police arrested the list wish. 16-year-old alyssa elkins wanted to use a stun gun on someone. she said she made a bucket list when her leukemia came back and she decide no to the undergo further treatment. elkins added right now they've been in the process of reopening so eastbound traffic is reopened and starting to see some westbound move as well so westbound and eastbound in the process of reopening right now and they're continuing to reopen the ramps leading to the vine but crews return again tonight at 11 o'clock, shut the vine down in both directions. of course we have the pennsylvania-new jersey turnpike connector bridge still remains closed indefinitely at this point so no end date to that. we have seen all you have the alternates be extra business and will that continue to do that n barrington route
