>> reporter: we have clear skies out there, but i think today will be a clouds and sun mix. we have lake-effect snow that's dieing out in pennsylvania before it gets here. 42 in wilmington. 40 in reading. 39 in millville. of course there's a bit of a breeze still around this morning at 16 miles per hour in philadelphia. so you're windchills are probably making it feel like closer to the freezing mark in a lot of spots maybe below in some places. 40 degrees by 7:00. noon, 44 we'll get a high of 47 degrees around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, of course, the winds will be gusting up to 20 to 30 miles per hour at times that will add to a chilly feel, plan on keeping a decent coat and a couple of layers in the afternoon when it starts to get milder. this evening, we're down to 39 at 7:00, as you head out tonight, it will be brisk and colder, too. i'll have the weekend call for you, coming up, cash. >> reporter: it's friday -- karen. it is friday, let's see if we can make it through together. vine street expressway, traffic is light and the roads are dry. at least we have that going for us today. the blue route, schuylkill expressway, in good shape. live on the schuylkill expressway, spring garden westbound traffic heading toward king of prussia no problems there. we have issues here, the delaware river bridge remains closed. we have historic traffic on route 1 heading toward the scutter falls bridge, all the alternates, the burlington bristol bridge and tacony-palmyra everything will be packed avoiding the turnpike bridge. police respond to a reported shooting in chester, one bullet struck a house, annie mccormick is live at the chester police department, good morning. >> good morning, tamala, we're looking to get more information we have not heard back from chester police yet at this point, but we are talking to some of the people that live in the neighborhood where this all happened. i want you to take a look at the video. this is video from the scene in chester in the five hundred block of east 23rd street. that is where we know that police are investigating an overnight shooting. it is after 1:00 a.m. when police responded. you can see bullet holes there, and shell casings on the street where bullets were fired at a home. a woman did approach "action news" said her house was shot 6 times. she did leave to head to chester police headquarters to talk to them about what unfolded. what unfolded we're waiting to find out. we are hearing injuries, we cannot confirm them, we're waiting to hear back from chester police, we know they are investigating an overnight shooting. we're hoping to get in touch with chester police and hoping to have more information in the next hour. reporting live outside chester police headquarters, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." tam, back to you. >> breaking this morning, a philadelphia police officer has been injured in a crash in the brewerytown section around 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of 26th and girard avenue. that's where authorities say the officer's car collided with another vehicle. the officer suffered head, neck and back injuries and taken to the area hospital in stable condition. the two people inside the civilian vehicle were not injured. president trump returned from his trip to philadelphia to learn that the president of mexico has canceled his trip to washington, while another foreign leader will be all smiles as she joins president trump at the white house today. >> reporter: president trump insists the border wall will go up with american money, but mexico will eventually pick up the tab. >> i've said many times that the american people will not pay for the wall. and i've made that clear to the government of mexico. >> reporter: white house press secretary of state sean spicer suggested slapping 20% import tax on mexico as payment. >> our county could tax exports and let imports flow freely. mexico government against this idea when it was a campaign promise. >> who's going to pay for the wall? >> mexico. >> reporter: exports from mexico to the u.s. that will be paid by the american consumer. >> reporter: hours earlier, president said mexico did not pay for any walls. trump telling gop lawmakers at a retreat it was a mutual decision to cancel. >> unless mexico is going to treat the united states fairly with respect, such a meeting would be fruitless. >> reporter: a meeting between trump and teresa may is still on the books today. mr. trump will head to the pentagon to sign more executive orders and attend the swearing in of james mattis. a delaware agency is a waiting word about whether jewish families can be resettled. president trump is expected to issue an executive order that will block refugees from coming from places like syria and iraq. >> i meant to make sure the positive voices are heard and make sure we send our message of love and compassion and hope. >> delaware's governor said he stands to prepared to work to place refugees and insure they are supported. >> federal accident investigators say the engineer in the accident in delaware county had drugs in his system. two track maintenance workers were killed when the train hit a tractorrer on the tracks -- tractor on the tracks. 47-year-old alsander hunter tested positive for marijuana. the maintenance cry failed to follow safety procedures. the investigators did not come to a conclusion in the overall reason for the crash. the 2015 derailment that killed 8 people are suing the railroad. amtrak failed to let them know that someone was throwing projectiles at trains. the ntsb concluded that the train was not struck by projectiles from the crash, they believe he was distracted. a rescue worker was stuck in a hole on radcliff street in bristol yesterday afternoon. the worker was trapped for 30 minutes and taken to the hospital to be checked out. a car slammed into a barber shop after 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon. structural engineers are checking to see if the building has to be torn down. two people suffered minor injuries. some of the 14 pennsylvania state university could merge or close because of falling enrollment. level of state funding is the same as 14 years ago. legislative approval will require to close or merge campuses, no specific schools were named.
