nice and bright. it's possible a few clouds filter in later in the day. still a cold start this morning. 35 degrees in philadelphia and below freezing in allentown, reading, lancaster even wilmington at 29 and millville down to 20. wow. 32 degrees in trenton and 39 in millville. not as much wind today, though. really light so we're not going to worry too much about wind chills. nonetheless will you need the winter coat obviously. answer we roll through the day, 33 degrees by 7 o'clock. 38 by 10 o'clock but we'll get a little bit better this afternoon. 43 degrees by noon and your high of 49 degrees at 3 o'clock and again with winds much lighter, it will feel more comfortable than the last couple of days. by 6 o'clock this evening down to 43. your thanksgiving days ago call and the parade, it's all coming up karen. >> things looking up. let's hit mass transit right now. we've got problems this morning because of the track conditions. they've suspended service new jersey transit has on the river line so watch for this between bordentown and roebling. let's head outside right now the a dark ride in new jersey but that's 42, your northbound traffic, very light volume at this early hour. if you're heading towards the walt whitman ben franklin looking pretty good at this hour. the new jersey turnpike if you're getting ready to travel early no problems there either. on the big picture showing i-95 looking good. the schuylkill and the blue route heading on i-95 southbound if you're head out towards the airport visiting grandma you're looking good at this point. no reported problems in that area. vine street expressway shut down overnight for construction. you can seep westbound, eastbound no traffic at this point but it should reopen by about 5:00 a.m. and in morrisville bucks county one more thing we'll look at route one northbound is reopened at oxford valley road. the construction that was blocking all lanes has cleared. matt and tam. >> thank you, karen. now let's switch live to "action news" reporter katherine scott who is live at philadelphia international airport with travelers coming and going for the thanksgiving day holiday. hey, katherine. >> reporter: hey, matt, yeah, thanksgiving get away day is here once again and as usual like pretty much every year the earlier you get here the better. we're at the security checkpoint between terminals e and d. it's already pretty busy. the lines are moving but there's certainly hustle and bustle at this early hour. aaa midatlantic expects half a million philadelphia area residents will travel 50 miles or more away from home today through sunday. fashionly that number stands at 39 million, the most since 2007. most will travel by car. 9 percent will travel by air and we're seeing some of those travelers here today. aaa says the most crowded day to fly over the thanksgiving holiday weekend is today. and while it will be busy -- a busy few days airports across the country are ready to go. >> i actually think we're ready for holiday travelers this year. if you look at the past summer we had a very successful summer is. we not only did we add more bodies and add more screening officer workforce, we added more help from the airlines and the airports. >> reporter: and back here live where folks are heading through security getting their boarding passes checked, the t.s.a. recommends that if you're flying domestic it's good to be at the airport up to two hours before your flight and the good news is so far this morning we're seeing a lot of on time flights on the year. it's deploying every available train car and operating additional trains particularly on the very busy northeast core do. little quiet at 30th street but it's going to pick up later today. we glasgow delaware. now police are on the trail of a person who fled that scene. gunfire rang out about one this morning on the 100 block of patrice drive. an 18-year-old woman wall shot in the chest. a 23-year-old man was shot in the side. they were both rushed to christiana hospital in critical condition. new castle county police are trying to figure out who shot the pair and why. >> investigators say an explosion in center city was no accident. it happened on the 1800 block of pine street early yesterday morning. police say 60-year-old jim alden old. a padded envelope in his kitchen and that set off an explosion. alden suffered injuries to his hand face and upper body. authorities believe alden was the intended target. police are questioning a number of people. >> obviously there are multiple facets including but not limited to the other person that was in the apartment as well as anybody else that may have been connected even loosely to it. >> oldens 32-year-old partner was in the apartment but was not injured. a pennsylvania game commission officer says who knows what could have happened if he hadn't shot and killed this run away bull in center city. the one time animal was seen running down i-95 and along the vine street expressway at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. the bull merged off the highway at callowhill street and hid in the bushes. that is when the game officer took it down at the direction of philadelphia police. the bull was actually trying to escape being killed earlier today. it was at a slaughterhouse in north philadelphia when it ran off. >> ♪ >> president-elect donald trump is now at mar-a-lago to spend thanksgiving and he left manhattan without announcing any new picks for his administration but trump made headlines as he began backing away from some of his more extreme campaign promises. abc's stephanie ramos has more. >> reporter: today as president-elect donald trump spends time with his family in florida for the thanksgiving holiday, questions over his business ties campaign pledges and open cabinet positions loom. dr. benn carson one of many visitors spotted leaving trump tower tuesday just last week said he had no interest in a trump cabinet position but now he's back in the mix and up for the housing and urban development secretary job. rudy giuliani also visiting trump tower but declining to talk about his desire to be a part of the administration. >> i was really here in my capacity as vice chairman of the transition committee. >> reporter: some of the big issues trump pledged to tackle once he became president, he appears to be backing away from, now softening his stance on prosecuting hillary clinton telling the new york times my inclination would be for whatever power i have on the matter is to say let's go forward. this has been looked at for so long ad nauseam. >> if donald trump can help her heel then perhaps that's a good thing. i think he's thinking of many different things as he prepares to become the president of the united states and things that sound like the campaign aren't among them. >> reporter: trump also dealing with questions about his business ventures in 18 different countries around the world begging the question even from his own advisers is there a conflict. democratic senator richard blumenthal seems to think so. >> there's a clear conflict of interest between donald trump 's personal business interests and his public duty. >> reporter: something else donald trump is not saying much about, the wall. he promised to build a wall along the southern u.s.-mexico border. instead he's mentioned an executive action to investigate visa abuse n washington, stephanie ramos channel6 "action news." >> 4:39 is the time and new this morning, a gunman shoots a police officer near a college campus in detroit. and the tennessee community gathers for an emotional vigil honoring the five children who were killed in a school bus crash. >> also conditions to be just right. >> well, okay, so here it goes. we're going to be a little cloudy tomorrow. it will not be as cold as it is some years but you probably want to keep an umbrella handy for tomorrow's parade just in case. storm tracker6 live double scan this morning shows you we are dry and taking a look outside on what is going to be a big travel day across the region, there's the airport and no weather related issues there if you are flying in or if you have folks coming from out of town into the airport today. it's cold this morning, though. 35 degrees in philadelphia. hey, the winds as promised are a lot lighter, only 3 miles per hour this morning so those blustery winds that we've been dealing with for the last couple of days are not going to be part of the package today. you can see we'll see a fair amount of sunshine early and then we'll probably get some patchy clouds building in as the day goes on kind of like yesterday but a pretty good looking day overall. 33 degrees by 8 o'clock. still in the 30's by 10 o'clock. we'll get a little bit better later on today. 43 degrees by noon and your high this afternoon almost 50 at 3 o'clock and then back to 44 by 5 o'clock. a fair amount of sunshine and again we have less wind than yesterday. high temperatures across the region, not a big range. 48 degrees in allentown, 50 in cape may. and philadelphia right in between at 49. again, sun giving way to maybe a few more clouds later on inform terms of traveling, and of course it's a big one for folks to get on the roads if you're heading up to new york city or boston or you have folks coming down from there green on the highway in terms of weather. course there may be some traffic delays but you don't have weather related problems. same thing if you're headed south to richmond on west to pittsburgh. i80 out to ohio and illinois a little bit of caution there as there could be rain building in as the day goes on in those western areas and you'll see that here on the wide view. about 2 o'clock this afternoon we're going for temperatures in the 40's from philadelphia up to the north. down into the 70's in savannah. down to jacksonville and savannah there could be a couple showers as you're traveling and the big issue is out in the midwest where there will be rain from detroit back through chicago by midday and maybe a little bit of snow the farther north and west you go through that period. around here tonight we are keeping an eye on the poconos between about 9 o'clock up to 11 o'clock in the wee hours of the morning there could be some mixed precipitation up there. if any that manages to get down to allentown reading and northern bucks and montco just even a sprinkle could give you an icy patch here or there but the problem is it just doesn't look like we'll get much if any precipitation around here. for thanksgiving morning 8:30 getting ready for the parade it looks like it's cloudy by the end of the parade at noon. the latest model projection is to bring a couple of showers in. an umbrella might be a good idea just in case. the rest of the day clouds and just a couple spotty showers around. for the parade, 43 degrees by 8 o'clock. and then about 49 degrees by noon so bundle up a little bit. there won't be a lot of wind. the balloon will fly but there's that chance of a late shower. your seven-day from accuweather today's high 49 degrees partly sunny overall less wind. clouds with a shower around on thursday, 52. and then clouds, some sun on friday with a late day or evening shower and a high of 56. we're now taking out a chance of showers on saturday, clouds sunny breaks on saturday for temple football. 54 degrees. we're still looking at a pretty decent evening. mostly sunny on sunday 52 degrees. town clouds on monday 54 but it looks like we're dry for monday night football and then cloudy with possible rain on tuesday. web remember when we're no the on the air you can get the latest duty is out of surgery. police say it happened while officer colin roads was trying to stop man on a bicycle just off the wayne state university campus in detroit last night. the 29-year-old officer had been investigating possible thefts near -- from cars near the campus. rose is in critical condition. again though out of surgery. police are questioning a possible suspect. >> thousands of people packed a tennessee church honoring the five young children killed in monday's school bus crash. last night they released balloons in memory of the victims in chattanooga. three of the children killed were in fourth grade, one was in first grade and the other was a kindergartener. six children still in the hospital in critical condition. >> we showing love and we should. these are children, you know. we should be here for them. it could have been any of our children. >> the driver johnthony walker has been charged with vehicular homicide according to police walker was driving the bus at a "high rate of speed" when it overturned ran into a telephone pole and hit a tree outside of chattanooga. the ntsb says walker got his commercial license in april hadn't already been involved in another crash two months ago. >> new on "action news" a california convenience store owner stopped a would be robber from cleaning out his cash register. security cameras show the robber pulling out a gun as he walked into the store in venison monday night. the store's owner simon miller tackled the man and the fight spilled out onto the sidewalk. miller says that's when the robber pulled out a thanksgiving gas prices are down. average price for a gallon of regular gas has fallen nationally to $2.13. the average in philadelphia is higher $2.33 a gallon n south jersey a gallon is $2.14. to ring the closing bell yesterday the dow hit another record closing above 19,000 for the very first time. small cap stocks though continue to outperform the overall market. the dow rose 67 points to 19023. nasdaq added 17 and the s & p 500 closed at 2202 which was a record break for standard and poor's. toyota recalling sienna vans. the automaker says there's a problem with the latch in the vehicle's sliding doors could open while it is moving. toyota officials haven't confirmed if the malfunction has caused any injuries or death. owners will be notified by mid january and while it's good that we're telling that you right now. apple may be bringing back an old but popular cell phone style. the tech company has been granted a patent for a flexible iphone that can fold in half like headed to the pop warner national championship in that business disney world. the young football players hit the field for their usual practice last night. three of the north philadelphia aztec youth
