We can see that the clouds have moved in and one thing that were watch sag little bit of precipitation that has moved in through western and central parts of pennsylvania and you can see the area of blue. Theres some concern out to the west that thats freezing on contact. That could be affecting parts of areas id say i 81 and north. Well be watching that for later on this morning, late this morning. Otherwise the rest of us are dry with a chance for a shower later on. Lets look at these temperatures. 25 degrees right now in philadelphia, its 17 in allentown, 37 degrees in millville, 21 degrees right now in wilmington. Temperatures in most of the region below freezing so you need to be care f we had a lot of melting yesterday with a high of 40 and once again we have the refreeze we have been warning about in most areas. In south jersey its above freezing so use caution on the sidewalks, on the 5 driveways. Also looking for areas of black ice on the roads because of that temperature dip below freezing after the melting that we had. Otherwise were seeing lots of cloudy skies way spotty shower around, a high today of 43 degrees. Well talk more about that shower and any chance for a freezing shower in areas well to the north coming up in just a minute and it looks busy already for you matt. We dont need any more precipitation. Were still having a tough time, karen, with the 24 plus inches from saturday. A lot of thawing and refreezing did happen overnight so weve got a lot of slick patches leading to accidents already this morning. And here in the conshohocken area a vehicle actually flipped over in the southbound lanes of the blue route 476 approaching the schuylkill. You see all the emergency crews on the scene. Theyve been out here now for about 40 minutes. Got the two right lanes shut down, salt truck on the scene theyre going to need to go through after this is all cleaned up and with that left lane squeezing by head toward the schuylkill and villanova its already a slow go this morning. Elsewhere on 476 the northeast extension a couple things going on southbound, some construction and then some snow removal. This is all southbound as you travel between lansdale midcounty. Theyre also picking up and trying to move away snow along 202 in the devon area. This is the northbound side headed toward 76, right lane is blocked for the snow removal and downtown in center city all is fine on the vine. No overnight construction but watch out for slick patches. There are lots of them as you said out on this tuesday morning. Matt. Indeed there are. Thanks matt. New video this morning a row of porch roofs collapsed under the weight of the snow in philadelphias parkside section. It happened on the 4200 block of lead dee avenue at 10 30 last night. Firefighters secured the site. No injuries were reported but if you have snow on roofs or on decks, might want to try and remove it. The massive cleanup from the blizzard of 2016 continues this morning with many schools closed and many cars still snowed in. And right here, this is actually a street. You can still see the piles of snow. This is 18th and daily in south philadelphia. Cars cant pull out here yet cause theyre still waiting for the plows to come through. Now even though a lot of people in the city of philadelphia say theyre happy with the progress the city is making as far as clearing the streets if youre in a neighborhood thats not plowed yet, some people are getting frustrated. City plows working early this morning on south philadelphias streets, side streets like this one at 18th and daily are still hidden under pies of snow. From south philadelphia to mayfair, people are getting testy. I called the cops on them. They were standing out here with shovels getting ready to swing at each other. Reporter here in the 6600 block of erdrick neighbors fought with other over residents dig out and saving spots with chairs or recycling bins. This apartment lot hasnt been cleared and customers have to navigate mounds of snow. Back to philadelphia, across the city crews have worked nonstop to clear roadways. Many philadelphians are applauding the citys response, the mayor asking again for patience. We do appreciate your patience. Were getting to your streets. We have to take care of the big ones first to get everything rolling and then that affects the most number of people but we havent forgotten you and we are coming or we are already there. So what makes this so surprising and worthy of attention . Well, yesterday afternoon it looked like this, an enormous Snow Mountain that blocked off the entire intersection baffling neighbors and drivers, even city officials told action news they did not know who dumped the snow there. But then last night just as mysteriously someone moved mountains to clean it up. The philadelphia Streets Department has not yet returned our call to find out if it deserves the credit. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is defending his decision to return to the president ial campaign trail one day after the east coast blizzard. Katherine. Reporter matt, this came to ahead last night at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire. There was a student there who asked the governor why he wasnt back in the state helping with cleanup. That student said she had friends across the state and the governor took exception to her comment. With this weekends blizzard came flooding in parts of the jersey shore. Cape may had a record storm surge of more than 9 feet. With the cleanup has come some controversy from the comments made by governor christie at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire yesterday. There a student asked christie why he wasnt back in new jersey helping with cleanup. Christie said he was the governor, not the chief engineer. I dont know what you expect no, sir do you want me to go down there with a mop. Reporter he add that a report from the department of transportation said theres no residual flooding. The fact is that we had all the roads cleared. We had new Jersey Transit back up and for the people who did sustain some flooding, we had we had folks on the ground to evacuate them if they needed to be evacuated. No one needed to be evacuated. The Lieutenant Governor was in holgate assessing damage. I heard one crazy mayor down in south jersey say this is the worst flooding than sandy. Heres the one thing you need to know about that mayor. His town didnt get hit by sandy. Reporter the south jersey mayor is patrick rosa nelo. The mayor of north wildwood. From a statewide perspective this storm did not have the impact of hurricane sandy. Reporter he said this is the most severe coastal storm this town felt in decades. Flood waters entered some homes and power was knocked out. 150 people were safely rescued from flooded homes. In a very localized area it appears in southern Cape May County this storm was worse than hurricane sandy. Reporter he said im disappointed that he would lower himself as much as he did this evening am i. More disappointed however in the evident lack of concern or respect that he is showing. He also added that he was one of christies earliest supporters in both of his runs for governor. As for christie at the end of the response he took the names and the numbers or he said asked the student for the names and numbers of her friends so that he could call them and ask them about the cleanup effort. Its a cold start to the day. Lets look at the current numbers for you. That temperature is 25 degrees. The dewpoint is 21. The winds are currently calm. The wind chill 25 degrees and the pressure 30. 16 and its falling. Satellite6 and action radar showing we had a lot of clouds yesterday. We see them moving out. Currently clear skies east of the city of philadelphia but you see the precipitation thats out to the west. So, were seeing those light showers break out. Were not expecting a lot but look at the area of blue. Theres currently a philliesing raingrain advisory. We might get clipped by that later this morning. I want to show you future trackers view on this. 8 30 you see the area of blue in mount pocono in reading near lancaster but were also seeing temperatures hovering above freezing in most that of region so were watch this carefully. If youre traveling out at 8 30 this morning youre going to watch for a little bit of light precipitation to our far northwest suburbs that could freeze on contact. The main roads have been treated. This would be a bigger issue for the sidewalks and secondary roads. Not a lot of precipitation with that. Its like a little blip that then just disappears. The rest of us really get the precipitation come later in the afternoon when those temperatures are in the 40s. As you can see right here. This is a look at 3 30 in the afternoon, a little shower coming as some of the kids are coming home from school. At 7 30 tonight more pronounced showers moving through again even at 7 30 the temperature is well above freezing at that point and then it moves on out of here. Lets see whats to expect overall for the day today. Lots of cloud cover today. We see some early sunshine in south jersey but mostly cloudy skies with a few spotty showers. The one fly in the ointment is the areas well to the north and west that could see just a little bit of light freezing precipitation late this morning. So, watching carefully for. That overall the showers come later in the afternoon and a high of 43. We have been talking a lot about what could happen over the weekend and some models were originally suggesting we could see another big storm off the coast. At this point all models are saying its going to be far enough to not impact us but well be watching that closely. Its close enough so well be watching that closely come friday.
