Temperatures just a degree off from yesterday in the city but in some spots especially along the jersey shore were looking at temperatures about 9 degrees cooler. 46 degrees right now hammonton, 48 in glassboro, 48 in dover, delaware. We have beautiful clear skies and thats really allowed for the radiational cooling and those temperatures to really drop. I went outside and looked at the stars and enjoyed that cause it had been so cloudy for quite awhile. Yesterday we saw those clouds break. Were live here in delco along 95 approaching 476, the blue route as you can see and the ramp from 95 northbound to the blue route northbound was closed overnight as i told you it would be. Its not closed anymore. That ramp has reopened. Construction crews have cleared out. Now were live here along 95 close to girard avenue between girard and the vine. In the distance you can see the construction crews. They have been stopping. All traffic in both directions from time to time. Theyre still out here restricting traffic but at the moment traffic is flowing in each direction. Its not moving here on the ramp from 95 northbound to cottman avenue. Overnight work closing that ramp once again. These crews should be gone within the next half hour and in the main northbound lanes you can see the traffic squeezing by okay headed up toward woodhaven road. But weve had construction here as well northbound side approaching 413. You can see them blocking a couple of the lanes, traffic squeezing by without too much of a delay but that was four active work zones along 95, some still there, some clearing out. This is woodhaven road itself. Westbound side at the roosevelt boulevard again this morning the milling and paving work continues so same situation, traffic squeezing by but with restrictions on this tuesday morning. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. New this morning, two Philadelphia Police officers were injured in a crash overnight. It happened just before 2 00 a. M. At the intersection of bartram avenue and holstein avenue in southwest philadelphia. The officers lost control and hit a tree. One officer suffered a broken leg, the other officer had minor injuries. The officers are saying there was some kind of mechanical failure with their vehicle. Police are still on that scene. A threeyearold boy is in extremely Critical Condition after he was hit by a car in the logan section of philadelphia. The driver of that car was brutally attacked when he stopped to check on the boy. Action News Reporter erin ohearn is live at Saint Christophers Hospital to explain. Good morning, erin. Reporter good morning nydia. The hope is that the great medical teams here at saint christophers will be able to help that little boy survive his lifethreatening injuries after he was struck last night in what witnesses say was an unavoidable accident and then perhaps adding to the tragedy, the driver of that car who did the right thing by stopping was then attacked by a group of men. I turned back around. I saw a little boy going underneath the car. Reporter neighbors tried to console each other. Just before 5 30 last night a little boy darted out between two cars on 13th and wagner in the citys logan section. Subsequently struck by the vehicle and knocked under the red suv as you see across the street over there. Reporter perhaps adding to the tragedy the driver of the gray mazda hatchback stopped to check on the boy but then was assaulted by a group of men. In this case this guy, its an accident, he did the right thing, he stopped but was assaulted by an unknown person. Reporter some neighbors came to the remorseful mans rescue and placed him in their vehicle until police arrived. He was kind of shooken up, he was, he was really shooken up. He was scared. I guess, you know, the little boy was real little. He said i didnt really see him, im sorry. Reporter so many elements of this story that are so tragic. Neighbors identify that threeyearold little boy as danel banks. Niece very Critical Condition here at Saint Christophers Hospital. Well keep you updated on his condition throughout the morning. For now were live at saint chris, erin ohearn, channel6 action news. Thank you. Police are searching for a 16yearold linked to a robbery murder in coatesville. Four other suspects are already in custody. Police say they robbed another group of men on the 100 block of fourth avenue. Dajon row is the suspected trigger man who fired at two of the victims. One was shot in the leg, the other shot in the chest and died. This is coatesvilles first homicide in nearly three years. Five men are under arrest accused of supplying heroin to users in montgomery and berks counties. Authorities laid out the suspects alleged stash, drugs guns and money yesterday. Montgomery county assistant District Attorney kevin steel says the case shows just how common heroine use has become. This is the epidemic that we are facing in our communities all across this area. All of the county coroners across the state tell that you say in just five years from 2009 to 2014 the number of Overdose Deaths in this state went from 47 to 800. Senator bob casey is pushing a bill to increase funding to are treatment. Meantime more Police Officers are being armed with narcan which reverses an overdose. Narcan is credited with saving 100 lives in Delaware County just the past year. An attempted state police stop on the schuylkill expressway ended with a chase and a crash. The suspects get away ended when his car hit a pole at 34th and mantua last night. The suspect got out and punched a trooper. The suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. There was a passenger in the car who took off from the crash site and hasnt been captured. New this morning, a Montgomery County hospital has settled with the federal government for allegedly turning away an hiv positive patient. Federal prosecutors claim mercy suburban know East Norriton refused the patient without evaluation or treatment because she is hiv positive. She was denied bariatric surgery. The hospital has agreed to pay the woman 20,000 and pay the government a 5,000 civil penalty. Mercy has also agreed to implement a nondiscrimination policy. All the wind and rain weve been through over the past few days has really taken a toll on the beaches at the jersey shore. Bulldozers went to work in holgate ocean county to rebuild some of the dunes that have been eaten away by coastal flooding. Though some areas were left with steep cliffs carved out by the surf Officials Say the damage could have been much worse. No homes or personal property were lost to the storm. President obama has signed a disaster declaration for South Carolina. A solid week of rainfall caused flash flooding thats inundated roads, collapsed bridges and caused two dams to burst. 13 people in the carolinas have died. Abcs lana zak reports. A former chief Deputy Attorney general whom she fired sued her yesterday in federal court. James barker claims kane ousted him in retaliation after he provided testimony that helped bring perjury charges against her. These are the northbound lanes by girard avenue. You can see just the left lane is squeezing by but at least its squeezing by because they were stopping all traffic in both directions from time to time. So, thats not the case right now and the crews should be out of here soon but not out of here yet along 95 at girard. Theyre also still blocking the northbound off ramp to cottman avenue. That, too, should be cleared before too long. Still have that crash involving the Police Officer in southwest philadelphia blocking off bartram at holstein this morning. Lean berg boulevard or 291 as alternates to bartram. No overnight construction here along the vine street expressway. I had told you yesterday they postponed those overnight closures until early next week instead of this week so all is open on the vine, 676, but not opened here in collegeville. Theres a nasty crash involving an overturned vehicle along route 29 at park avenue by the sovereign bank. No big problems so far this morning on 422. And were scheduled to get route 23, valley forge road, the bridge over pickerring creek back very soon im hearing. Well have more details on that coming up, tam and nydia, in just a bit. Thank you, matt. Officers on patrol in wilmington heard bullets. They rushed to the scene and found a sixyearold victim hit by the gunfire. This happened at 6 30 last night. Officers heard gun shots along the 800 block of bennett street. They found a young girl who had been hit in the right knee. The officers represented immediate aid and rushed the child wilmington hospital in their police car. Authorities say the little girl is now in stable condition. Philadelphia police are trying to figure out exactly what caused a deadly crash involving a center at a bus. The route 75 trolley bus were you on penn street near erin at 7 30 last night near frankford when a and suv rearended the bus. The driver of the suv was killed. His passenger is is in Critical Condition. 19 people on the bus including the bus driver requested medical attention for minor injuries. A suspected drunk driver crashed into the bedroom of a home in colorado while a boy and his grandfather were asleep. The boy Kyle Thompson says the bed flew across the room.
