This advisory kicks in at 10 oclock this morning doesnt expire until about 10 oclock tonight with the gin that time period is when we expect to see snow moving in through the west and then finally through the region. I think the bigger impact fore our region will be during the afternoon and evening. By 10 oclock well be down to just a few light snow showers but in this area that you see here thats when the highest snowfall totals will hit it is coming in and affecting the evening rush hour and even a little bit of effect there can slow us down. Might see early sunshine. You see broken clouds but theres the precipitation out to the west and thicker clouds with it. 30 degrees right now dry so far, 25 degrees in allentown. Reading 25, 30 in wildwood. As we take a look at the way the day is going to progress, temperaturewise it stays cool. 30 by 8 oclock by noon 34, and by 3 oclock 34 degrees coming down from a high of 36 and by 6 oclock 30 degrees and we have that snow falling. Should be light but we are looking at some accumulation. Karen ill have more details on how much were going to get and the timing in a couple minutes. All right. Were watching the roads carefully right now. So far were not seeing any problems on the roads. Were watching for areas of black isoyou need to be careful. We have some moisture out there and a touch of fog so we could see that today. Right now you can see the flashing lights from penndot nearby. This is the schuylkill at 30th street. They have construction that had been blocking the right lane. They have been in the process of clearing that out right now and we see traffic moving nicely with no delays as they continue to move that out of here. Lets look at the big picture. Overall speeds are in good shape. Weve got the sixers playing tonight at 7 00 so you want to take the sports express trains because thats going to be a time when we see precipitation coming down. 6 08 and 6 18 for the sports express trains. We have a fatal accident, milner street closed at cottman avenue. Stick to state road in tacony instead of milner as that accident investigation into that overnight accident continues matt and tam. That is our breaking news, karen thank you. Philadelphia Police Officers were hurt in a crash. It happened as they were transporting a shooting victim to the hospital. Katherine scott is live at the scene of the crash in north philadelphia. Reporter matt we did speak to police. Everyone involved in this accident is in stable condition at the hospital. One thing to note, the other two drivers in this threecar crash did not have drivers licenses according to police. So, let me give you a look at the scene right now. Three cars involved. Theres debris all over lehigh avenue here right by 25th street as this accident investigation is under way. You can see the air bags in the Police Vehicle deployed. This crash happened around 3 00 a. M. The officers had just picked up a 24yearold man who had been shot three times on the 2400 block of north hollywood. The officers had their lights and sirens on according to police. They were driving east on lehigh when the car collided with a lexus that was traveling north on 25th. After that initial crash the lexus landed other sidewalk and Police Vehicle collided with the camaro that was driving west on lehigh. The driver of the Police Vehicle has head injuries and possible concussion. The other officer has minor injuries and the shooting victim is in stable condition can. The other two drivers were complaining of pain. They were also at the hospital being checked out. Police tell that you say one of the dangerous parts of this job is actually the driving part of it in an emergency situation. Again they had lights and sirens on. What exactly led up to this crash remains under investigation. If rescue is not on location and we dont see them coming anywhere near from several blocks away, we scoop them right up and we rush the victim especially when theyre shot multiple times to the nearest hospital. In this case it was temple hospital and whenever were rushing someone to the hospital we activate our lights we activate our sirens, we try to drive there as quickly and safely as possible but in this situation, for some reason an accident investigation officers will determine how and why this accident occurred. Reporter again, this accident remains under investigation. Back here live on lehigh by 25th street you can see theres broken glass in the road, theres parts of the vehicles. The lexus is on the sidewalk, the Police Vehicle in the middle of the road. The camaro over there also crashed up and the wipers are actually on in that vehicle. The air bags deployed over there. So, obviously a lot of cleanup here left to do. This is closed to traffic at this time. Now, i did mention that those two other drivers were not licensed. Its unclear what kind of charges or tickets they will face but again this all remains under investigation. Were live in north philadelphia, Katherine Scott channel6 action news. Tam. And the stories developing according to sources an investigation found that footballs were under inflated by 2 pounds per square inch of air less than what is required by nfl regulations. This all going on during the pats blowout 45 to seven victory over the indianapolis colts. Now, the Investigation Continues and of course there is a chance that the weather could have been a factor but right now there is a cloud of suspicion over the patriots. Lets go over to erin ohearn with more. Good morning. Good morning. A lot of eyebrows being raids and our sister station as you said espn is reporting the nfl has found that 11 of the 12 new england patriot game balls were inflated significantly less than the nfl requires. Now, according to sources the investigation found the footballs were under inflated by 2 pounds per square inch of air less than whats required by nfl regulations during that pats victory the colts. The investigation of course continues and there is a chance however that weather could have been a factor but right now this cloud of suspicion over the patriots continues to grow. All game balls are required to be inspector and approved by the referee two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff but then are returned to the ball attendant. Deflating a football can change the way its gripped by a player or the way it travels through the air. Now, the patriots coach has deferred questions about the investigation but promised to cooperate fully. Belichick of course was fined 500,000 in 2007 for having an assistant spy on the new york jets defenses signals. Of course this story is developing and well bring you updates throughout the morning. Tam, back to you. Thank you erin. Jury deliberations are go on in the fraud trial of don tollefson. Jurors were sent home around 9 30 last night out of concern for icy roads. Its now 4 40 and still to come on action news, the one performance in a movie american sniper that has just that just about everybody says its clearly not oscar worthy. Penndot is preparing for afternoon and evening snow and so is meteorologist dave murphy. You bet, guys. Take a look at the kids and we are dressing them fairly warmly keeping them bundled up this afternoon because we have snow that could start falling in parts of the region before they get out of school. Ill have details on all of this on accuweather coming. Penndot is not taking any chances when it comes to todays snow. Salt trucks will be gearing up around noon today. Chopper 6 hd hovered over penndot trucks fanning out across the region yesterday getting ready there on the major highways, this after sunday mornings sunday unpredicted pileup that left many accidents and three people dead. This isnt going to be that type of situation. No. It looks like its going to be mainly snow. If youre in south jersey youll start out with a little bit of rain and sleet and then change over to snow later on so maybe a little bit of iciness there but even the light snow is going to cause you problems by the time we head into the evening commute. Lets start you on Storm Tracker 6 live double scan this morning and theres nothing going on just yet across the region. Your morning commute look fine as we take a look outside, we have sky 6 at the airport and again, tranquil conditions. Not a lot of wind out there just yet either, so generally speaking things are looking pretty good out there. 30 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia. Your winds northnortheast at just 5 miles per hour, not all that strong. Satellite shows you that there might be some early sunshine in parts of the region before the clouds get thicker from the west and theres that precipitation beginning to creep into southwest pennsylvania. Future tracker 6 shows you that we are looking at snow arriving through the western suburbs during the afternoon hours. Now, the advisory technically starts at 10 oclock in some areas to the west and at 11 oclock this morning in philadelphia just in case but i think the bigger impact of this is likely going to be in the afternoon and you can see how temperatures are beginning to fall during the afternoon below freezing and that will be cool enough to support the snow on the roads. By 6 oclock tonight the model has most of the bullet area down through south jersey. Notice how we have changed over to snow by then. And then we go through the rest of the evening and its off and on snow showers. By 11 oclock adam and cecily will probably have less to show you as the snow will be winding down but there might still be a few leftover snow showers by 11 oclock and then shortly after 11 oclock and after midnight this does clear on out and then the trucks get to work and hopefully things look a lot better by the time we get out on the roads tomorrow. What are we expecting in terms of snowfall . 1 to 2 inches in philadelphia and through much of the northern and western suburbs. The farther south you go especially through delaware and south jersey you have a shot at 2 to 3 inches and there might be a couple can of places that go as high as four especially down around vineland and millville. Up in allentown and points to the north and east probably only about a coating to an inch. This is a pretty quick hitter. Unfortunately the timing isnt great. It does look like its going to be under way in time for the evening rush hour so i would expect delays later tonight. Mainly south. That will be where the heaviest snow is during the rush hour. Overpasses and bridges would be of special concern. Secondary roads also get snow covered and could give you problems. In terms of temperatures, today in the morning we are cool 30 degrees. By 11 oclock, 34 in philadelphia. Your high of 36 around probably 1 oclock maybe 1 30 and then were back to 34 by 2 oclock and dipping back down into the freezing zone after that as that snow begins to get a little bit more intense t weve got high temperatures across the region. Allentown 32. 40 down in cape may and a general 1 to 3inch snow accumulation expected with the heaviest amounts in south jersey and delaware. Maybe southern chester county. Your sevenday from accuweather, cloudy today with snow arriving, mainly during the afternoon and hanging in there through the evening. 36 is the high. Tomorrow clouds will give way to sun a high of 42 and then partly sunny on friday, 38 degrees there. I started talking about this yesterday as it looked like a southern storm was going to be close enough to us on saturday afternoon and saturday night to bring us precipitation and it now looks like it might be a wintry mix with some areas picking up some snow and some picking up some rain so thats saturday afternoon and evening. Then it looks like we dry out again on sunday. It could be another hit of precipitation on tuesday morning. Plenty of things to worry about. Thank you david. New this morning theres a very good reason that the baby in american sniper did not receive any academy awards. It is because the baby in the movie is a fake. This is the scene in question. The baby that actor Bradley Cooper is holding is actually a mechanized doll. The real baby showed up with the fever. The backup didnt show up so director Clint Eastwood went with the doll. Someone create add twitter account for the fake baby and tweet ted i am not straight from toys r us. I saw the movie matt. You can definitely tell it was a fake baby. But otherwise weve got no problems right here. This is a good shot of the roads which are clear right now. We are dry through the area but were anticipating a little bit of black ice as you head out so you need to be careful about that. We have a little bit of fog in spots and you got to watch that its not freezing. Because of that theyve reduced speeds to 45 miles an hour here on the northbound and southbound new jersey turnpike. Thats between exits number six and exit number eight. So just watch for that as youre headed out. Were really not seeing any big problems out there but just something to use a little extra caution.
