young man was shot this morning. chopper 6 hd was over the scene at 6th and tillman streets at 10:00 a.m. police say an adult male was shot multiple times and taken to the hospital where he died. currents in danger of drowning but an nypd police officer happened to be there. officer billy heard screaming from the beach and stripped off his belt and gun and jumped into the water and realized it was more than one swimmer he enlisted the help of four nearby surfers. >> i said we got you, everything will be fine. >> i panicked and i thought i'm going to drown, i'm going to drown. he saved my life and my kid's life. >> if you get caught up in a rip current don't stream directly to the the shore swim parallel to the shore and get out of of it first. >> you know honestly the rip currents in some cases are not much wider than this desk if you swim 10 or 20 feet to the side you can get in. up in new york they have bad problems because of the orie orienttations of the beach is tifrn than north this afternoon. and 78 degrees currently and it feels comfortable out there. winds south-southeast at 8 miles per hour a little bit a breeze and there are clouds to the north and south if they do spill through its a clouds and sun mix for us. but generally speaking we are looking at generally light conditions with the humidity levels on the low side and one exception is cape may and dover and in through here it's humid and the rest of the region is doing better. 80 is the high in allentown and same in trenton and lancaster and down the shore low to mid-70s this afternoon. little bit cooler down by the beach. as we go down philadelphia 82 and the high hits at 3:00 and 81 degrees by 4:00 and it looks like we zip down a bit by evening and 68 by 10:00 tonight. speaking of tonight if you have plans to head to the ballpark comfortable and low humidity and partly sunny skies and nice and down to the upper 60s by the ninth inning and hopefully the phils get the w against the tough red sox. tomorrow a change, a warm front coming at us. still warm with a high of 80 and as the front pushes through an uptick in the human and instability and thunderstorms and behind that hazy hot and humid by the weekend. in terms of tipsation 5:30 in the morning karen rogers and i will be on air in the morning the possibility of a shower showing up on radar and better chance later in the day and perhaps into the afternoon and the latest model run has downpours and even thunderstorms mixed in. and 6:00 more of the same not raining everywhere but a chance for you to see this. that continues cold front is coming in and starting to take a bite out of that warm and humid air in place. as the front gets out of here on tuesday the humidity drops again and we get into a comfortable pattern, 84
