"action news" reporter vernon odom is live in roxborough tonight with the full story. >> reporter: vern. >> reporter: bruce steele detectives say had a huge arsenal of weapons that he kept here including an ak-47 assault rifle allegedly kept here because he always had a huge amount of cash at hand. >> he was forcing them to go out and perform sex for money and in return he would keep them addicted because he was buying heroin for them. >> reporter: prosecutors talking about this man bruce steele aged 44 in jail tonight facing nearly three dozen charges of trafficking of individuals, prostitution and involuntary servitude. law arrested here in his apartment in this roxborough complex where detectives also found two of his alleged victims. steele whose nickname is cash was allegedly pimping at least seven heroin addicted women who he recruitd from philadelphia jails and off the mainstream he allegedly had them working out of local hotels like this one in king of prussia and all five philadelphia regional counties including delaware county and even into the city out of this walnut lane apartment building. >> he recruited women in jail, he used women that he was bailing out to recruit other women that were in jail and then the other thing that he did was he would go to kensington and look for women on the street that he would promise basically shelter and food. >> reporter: prosecutors say steele made thousands of dollars each night advertising on this internet web site back page and demanding his sex slaves turn over every penny they made to him. >> basically forcing the women that worked for him involuntarily to come up with targeted figures every night, thousand dollars, hundreds of dollars. >> reporter: rick, montgomery county's d.a. believes there are hundreds and perhaps several hundred women out here who may have also been on the team at some point with steele so they would like for them to get in touch. they want to put steele away for a long stretch. live in roxborough, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news. >> thank you. viewer video captures fire aftermath of a crash in delaware. a six-year-old was trapped in the back seat. police say a tractor-trailer went across route 896 and hit the pickup truck which burst into flames. two adults managed to get out much state police and a passerby jumped in to rescue the boy. >> the officer grabbed ahold and i grabbed ahold and we pulled the child out of the car. >> wow. >> and gave him a hug. i was happy he was out. i was scared. i didn't know -- i didn't know what was going to happen from there, you know. >> the six-year-old boy suffered burns and a head injury. he's in critical condition tonight. new castle county the investigation continues into a frightening home invasion that left an 81-year-old victim injured and the violent intruder still at large. happened this afternoon along the 700 block of hertford wrote in north wilmington. chad prad teal is standing by live with the latest. >> reporter: detectives wrapped up their work about an hour ago. that is the home where this home invasion occurred. as the victim recovers that person responsible remains at large. the home invasion began with a knock. 81-year-old victim answered his front door. >> the suspect forced his way into the house. he was confronted by the victim, physical altercation ensued. >> reporter: new castle county police say the suspect hit the victim multiple times in the head stole electronics cash and jewelry and fled in a red two door vehicle. the make and model is unclear. >> his son was home. he's a -- a disabled adult. he was home. thankfully he was not involved in the altercation. >> that happened here? >> reporter: that was the reaction from neighbor megan mcconnell this upper middle class neighborhood is not accustomed to home invasion robberies. >> that's terrible. i'm sorry to hear that. >> reporter: and the victim was treated on scene by paramedics but i'm told by police he took himself to a hospital later on this afternoon to be checked out by doctors. his daughter told me a few moments ago that her father is expected to be okay. i'm live in wilmington, chad pradelli channel6 "action news." >> chad, thank you. 20-year-old idrees merit is charged with the murder of his former girlfriend. the body of 21-year-old miprecious hoskins was discovered in a trash nan wilmington on wednesday. the discovery was made on the 2100 block of locust street. meals say hoskins had been shot several times. merritt faces first degree murder and weapons charges. he's being held without bail. the 16-year-old charged in the death of a classmate inside of a delaware high school will not be tried as an adult. today a judge ruled that the case will be tried in family court. the girl is accused of repeatedly hitting amy joyner-francis in a premeditated attack back in april. an autopsy determined joyner-francis died from a preexisting heart condition triggered by the assault. the suspect is charged with criminally negligent homicide and conspiracy. two other girls face less serious charges in the case. joyner francis' family says they're disappointed in today's decision. in a statement they said "it's unfortunate that three people will get away with murdering our amy. our only hope is that these three young ladies will one day realize and recognize the pain they have inflicted on a god fearing family ." in philadelphia today, plenty of school supplies were handled outer not to students but a roster of incoming teachers who are getting ready for the school year. hundreds of new teachers are entering the philadelphia school system and lacking the necessary resources is just one of the challenges they're facing. "action news" reporter gray hall has that story tonight from west norriton. >> finally open. >> reporter: outdoor lovers rejoice the sullivan bridge is open. bicycle and pedestrian bridge is a concrete structure that is 14 feet wide and 600 feet long. the trail bridge stretches across the schuylkill river and valley forge national historical part. it is a critical link in the circuit trails which is a vast regional trail network composed of hundreds of miles of interconnected trails. >> just another sign philadelphia and the region just becoming a better place for pedestrians and cyclists. >> i hope to use this to commute to work and get some exercise on my way in to work and not be a part of making more congestion and smog. >> reporter: new bridge is a connection between the schuylkill river trail and the trail system within the national park and a direct link between chester and montgomery county. the bridge not only creates a safer passage for cyclists and pedestrians but promotes recreational activities greener travel options and just an excuse to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. >> bring their bikes and have a good time. valley forge is so historic and now, you know, it's a historic park and now it's a recreational park and that's great. >> reporter: penndot crews started work on sullivan's bridge in 2014. it was excitement after a ribbon cutting to officially open and no one was complaining about the old narrow boardwalk path that stretched along u.s. 422. >> it was kind of scary. a couple years where they didn't do maintenance. it was a board or two out and it was scarier. >> reporter: there's no need to rush because right in the center is an observation area where you'll get great views of the schuylkill river. reporting along sullivan's bridge gray hall channel6 "action news. david was proud to be an american soldier. and i know i'm prejudiced because he was my son, but i don't think he had a mean bone in his body. there is not a day that i don't think about david. when i saw donald trump attack another gold star mother, i felt such a sense of outrage. [laughter] >> you've actually never looked better. thank you ducis. >> thank you. >> that didn't hurt did it? all right. a beloved wilmington community basketball league is finally moving back home. a ribbon cutting marked the opening for two brand new kirkwood park basketball courts. players wasted no time warming up n recent years the 300 member silk league have been forced to move to other courts due to the deteriorating condition of the kirkwood courts. the league is known for men touring children ages fiv for mentoring children ages five to 15. >> meteorologist add jam joseph in for cecily way check of that weekend forecast. where can we find a cool breeze this weekend, where do you think? florida. >> one of those misters that they have at the shore. that's the best you can get. double scan live radar -- have them pay for your gas if you wander -- indicating not much going on as we round out the area. again we had a couple of downpours down the shore earlier on today around strathmere sea isle city. it is dry everywhere. 89 in the lehigh valley right now. reading at 87. 89 in wilmington. 90 again in philadelphia after that one day yesterday we were only 88 degrees. over the last nine or so days we've been 90 or better with the exception of yesterday and low 80's at the shore beach haven and a nice sea breeze kicking in at 82 degrees. satellite and radar we have the eruption of those showers and thunderstorms in southern areas along the stalled front. that not going to push to the north here as we go through the upcoming weekend. what we're watch sag front -- watching is a front and strong low pressure developing near omaha and wichita. that lifts to our north and west and swing a front through here the second half of the weekend. tonight it's mostly clear and humid, 65 in the suburbs spue aroun72for center city. tomorrow it's hot and humid, another day at 90 degrees. we're used to it at this point. could be an isolated shower or thunderstorm in a couple locations but 90 percent of us tomorrow staying dry and then as we get into sunday, that's the day that it turns very stormy especially during the afternoon and evening hours and feeling tremendously tropical out ahead of the front, 88 degrees but behind it high pressure comes in to push everything off the coast for the beginning of the new week. but as we look at those dewpoints, they're going stay in the upper 60's even some 70's here on sunday so again, feeling very uncomfortable but notice how quickly this drops here behind that front monday and tuesday dewpoints only in the 40's extremely dry air and we start to go back up so by the end of next week you get in feeling of that increasing humidity to return once again. but at the shore the ocean really warm. 74 degrees, partly sunny tomorrow with an air temperature of 82 with a sea breeze. same thing on sunday, 82 degrees but watch for storms to develop during the afternoon, very late so you could salvage most of sunday at the shore but in the poconos 80 partly sunny saturday, sunday showers and thunderstorms developing first thing in the morning as the front's closer there with a temperature of 77. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 90 tomorrow, sun and clouds, very humid on sunday. again those afternoon storms developing. future tracker at 4 o'clock you can see them already developing philadelphia to the north and west and then they will rush to the east. some of them could have very song winds maybe even a little bit of hail with them and then beyond that things quiet down. monday lowering humidity, absolutely beautiful, 82 degrees. pleasant perfect here on tuesday, 81 with just a few cumulus clouds and then again it quickly turns warmer wednesday 87. then the heat and humidity try to rush back in by thursday and friday, upper 80's both of those days so it's kind of a 50-50 weekend. most of tomorrow is dry. sunday watch for those storms. >> adam thank you. finally tonight mercer county community college is getting a $1.2 million manufacturing facility. school officials ceremoniously broke ground in west windsor. the facility will support deprogram in high tech fields. the program is funded through the building our future bond act cla which was approved by voters in 2012. abc news with david muir is here next.
