An fbi raid turned deadly this morning. Agents went to a home on highland avenue at 6 00 a. M. To serve a child pornography warrant. Authorities say the man inside pulled a gun. Shots were exchanged. The suspect was killed. Neighbors say the man lived there with his parents for more than 20 years. The fbi has not publically identified the suspect. The coast guard suspended its search today for the missing pilot whose plane crashed off the coast of Atlantic City yesterday. Officials say they searched 83 square miles in 22 hours with no sign of 68yearold dr. Michael moore. Moore was flying from michigan to Atlantic City when his plane crashed 7 miles off the coast. One day after announcing that pilgrims could camp out in Fairmount Park for the papal visit, that plan has been scrapped. Officials say they canceled the francis fields campground accommodations because of limited sales. World meeting of families organizers say there are plenty of hotel rooms still available. Reporter well, jim, there has been a flurry of activity out here on the parkway. Dozens of workers have been here all day setting up the altar area where pope francis will celebrate mass. Many are anticipating the big day eagerly but not so much for the people who live in the surrounding neighborhoods. We think its a terrible inconvenience. Its not fair. Reporter diana is one of thousands who will have to move their cars out of here or get towed. Starting at 9 00 a. M. Monday the 21st. We really dont know a lot of my friends are talking about getting out of town but i think were going to try to stay put. Its just a matter of finding parking somewhere. Reporter the city is opening up 2,000 spaces in lots and parking garages like this one at 16th and vine but theyre changing 20 for the weekend unless you already have a residential parking permit. Starting monday, residents can go to the Parking Authority office at eighth street to pick up a placard for the garages. The placard will also allow residents to stay parked until 10 00 p. M. That thursday instead of clearing out tuesday morning. Some have multiple vehicles like Vince Thompson who runs a plumbing business out of his home. He says moving them will be costly. I thought that i could at least, you know, maintain my business until thursday by parking on the street and now i have to move out sunday, so ill actually lose a whole week of work. Reporter others say theyll need to take time off from work without their cars nearby. Many are still trying to figure it out. We dont know. Tell you the truth, were already missing work. Yeah, were just going have to wing it. Reporter workers have already begun assembling the area where the pope will celebrate mass. The city says other setup work requires the streets to be cleared in the vehicle security zone five days before the pope arrives. Thats why the cars have to go. Aggravating for some but others are taking it in stride. We struggle with parking regardless, so it shouldnt be anything new. Reporter well throws who dont have parking permits already are upset about that 20 fee for the garages but if they dont get out on time, theyll have to pay a 76 ticket and another 175 for the together. At the pentagon, a giant American Flag was unfurled at the site where a plane struck that building and near shanksville, pennsylvania, Governor Tom Wolf joined other mourners at the newly opened flight 93 memorial and visitors center. And here in philadelphia, firefighters and Police Officers marched through olde city to honor fallen First Responders. The procession began at the Firemans Hall museum and ended with a ceremony at the betsy ross house. The staff at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County held a Prayer Service to remember loved ones and First Responders lost on 9 11. They raised the American Flag and placed a wreath near the hospitals peace garden. And they remembered today in south jersey. They remembered with prayer, with reflection and with food. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott has the story in moorestown. Reporter the sounds swell from bag pipes at trinity episcopal church. Pews filled, heads bowed. Each year the 200 club of Burlington County holds a memorial in moorestown to remember this day 14 years ago. Want to continue to move forward and not let us let that holds us back. Were not going forget those who lost their lives. Reporter at a breakfast afterward conversation and reflection as years pass the crowds seem to thin at remembrances around country. And concern grows about ensuring the day is marked appropriately. Burlington county prosecutor Robert Bernardi spoke about the importance of educating the next generation. As time goes on the memories fade, small children grew up not knowing anything about 9 11. I think its important for families to still talk about it, keep that spirit alive. Reporter memories that can be difficult to talk or even think about but surround an event many believe changed our perception. I think it awakened all of our senses to the fact that not just a Little Island all by ourselves, we are vulnerable. Reporter there are a lost different ways and forums to remember 9 11. The important thing is that you do. Acting state attorney general john hoffman chose to remember in this church. 14 years ago we remember being in churches at a number of times throughout those three or four days i remember thousands of people in washington, d. C. Where i live crowding out in the streets outside of a church because thats where everybody went because they needed to feel a sense of peace and a sense of solace. Reporter with each prayer each year, the continue continued refrain, never forget. So many people suffered in that tragedy and are still suffering. I mean, there are still firefighters that were on the pile in new york that are coming down with illnesses and dying from cancer and things like that and i think its important to keep that memory alive. Reporter in moorestown, Katherine Scott, channel6 action news. Philadelphias please touch museum will stay opened despite filing for bankruptcy today. The move comes after two years of negotiations to restructure 60 million in debt. The Childrens Museum got into financial trouble when it borrowed money to move to Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park. Under the terms of the bankruptcy settlement, the museum needs to raise 10 million by march of next year. I think this is really the start of a new beginning and i think its extremely exciting to know that weve been able to come out of that in a way that really ensures our viability in this community. Museum Officials Say theyre already looking toward the future. Theyve announced a new Exhibit Opening next month on the adventures of clifford the big red dog. James gillian served in the legendary africanamerican buffalo soldier infantry in world war ii. He died yesterday. Just last year gillian was awarded the bronze star and four other medals decades after his service. Gillian founded the metropolitan Wilmington Urban League in 1999. Today Vice President joe biden released a statement calling gillian a friend and mentor. James gillian was 95. The miss America Pageant is heating up tonight, a big weekend for the 52 contestants and a big weekend for Atlantic City. Action News Reporter eva pilgrim has the story down the shore. Miss america is about family, about networking, about connections so its always great to come back during pageant week. Reporter earlier today miss america held its inaugural 9 11 military appreciation concert. Today the pageant took a moment to remember this day 14 years ago on september let meth 2001 contestants were competing for miss america and they had to decide whether the show should go on. We didnt want to disrespect the moment that was going on and what was happening to our country by having what people may seem as a pageant but then you didnt want to give in to the terrorists by removing an american way of life. Reporter they decided to go forward and today the miss america dream continues. A compliment to service the pageants faithful say is very much still a part of the american way. Just to know that miss tennessee is actually a real girl and not just the girl that i pictured on tv, its actually somebody i know. When you look at the talent its a super bowl contender and thats all you could ask for is to put the talent together, get them to play together so late in the season youre making that run and playing your best football. I believe the eagles will struggle a little bit early in the season. I think theres been such a tremendous amount of turnover on this Football Team its going to take time to come together but once they he do come together, man this team could challenge to win it all.
