Reporter well, jim the investigators are back out here at 4741 leaper late this afternoon going inside the home trying to get a better idea as to what was going on here. Earlier this afternoon neighbors were standing here on the sidewalk, they looked way, way up there to the third floor and saw a twoyearold boy up on the rooftop wearing only his diaper. He climbed out that open third story window right onto the roof. Neighbors grabbed their cell phones and recorded the rescue that followed and weve just obtained this better video than we showed you earlier today. You can see the toddler up on the sloped third story. He would stand up walk around a bit even approaching the edge of the roof. Neighbors were screaming for the child to sit down. Firefighters arrived on the scene and put a ladder up to the roof and to everyones horror the toddler reached out to try to grab it. Just then another firefighter pulled the boy back inside through that opened third floor window to safety. David durant captured that cell phone video and he talked to us about how this all played out. I seen him outside on the roof with the window up. Everybody is yelling telling him to stay back, you know stay in place, you know everything will be okay. Reporter tell me about when the firefighters put the ladder up there. The baby was reaching out for the ladder. That was the scariest part about it, him reaching out to it and everybody thinking hes going fall. Reporter now the daring child and another toddler were taken out of the home by police. They appeared to be just fine but went to saint christophers to get checked out. Police tell us both boys live here with their mothers. Both moms were taken away in handcuffs for questioning at the special victims unit. Sources say they left the kids unattended.
