vandalism but a targeted attack on a resident of that neighborhood. philadelphia police know who they are looking for in a series of car battery thefts. this is juan carlos lugo known as juan martinez. they say he is responsible for a battery theft of jeep wranglers. he is 5'10" with a bald head and goatee. >> a teen walked into the path of a car while face timing with a friend continues to fight for her life tonight and it has shocked the abington community and sara bloomquist is at the school administration building to bring us an update. >> well, monica some athletic practices and other school activities went on here on the campus. this 14-year-old girl who police say was face timing when she was hit by an on coming car on busy highland avenue remains in critical condition. >> witnesses told police that the teenage girl was involved in a video chat near abington high school in wednesday afternoon. i heard god no. as a mother it's a very upsetting no. i knew something was wrong. jacqueline lives nearby and neighbors rushed to the scene and saw them huddling around the badly injured girl and 2:45 when the girl was hit by the on coming suv and police confirmed witness reports that the girl was distracted. >> we determined speaking to witnesses that the young lady was distracted on the face time on her cell phone. which was obviously a contributing factor in the accident. >> the driver of the suv stopped at the scene and also tried to help the teen. she was transported to abington memorial hospital and later flown to childrens hospital. normally highland avenue is a 25 miles per hour speed limit and 15 during classes, and that starts next week. >> usually the traffic is obeying the speed limit like 25 miles per hour. but when the lights are flashing it's 15 miles per hour it's hard to believe that you know that someone got hurt. >> there was an accident investigators trained forensic examiners at the scene and further scamming physical evidence and damage to the car and piece together what happened here. >> reporter: the abington school district does confirm that the 14-year-old attends here. and we are told that she was entering ninth grade this year and the school district says she was on the way to the school activity when she was struck and a few scientists told her she was on her way to cheerleading tryouts and counselors are made sailors when a tanker collided. and now it switches to a search and recovery. >> and a woman going on trial for stabbing a baby sitting girl in collingdale, instead pleaded guilty to the crime. she admits she stabbed dorothy dealingan in the head with a butcher knife. and she told authorities she did it because she was unhappy with the girl's baby sitting skills. and the mother told "action news" she was too young to be baby sitting anybody. and she was charged with criminal attempted homicide and reckless endangerment of of of another person. 24-year-old george rissle is in the jail charged with eight separate cases of vandalism in coatesville and valley township. authorities say he sprayed racist and neo nazi graffiti here on strobe street where he lives with his mother. known bridge. platt is no better as you head toward philadelphia, all approaches to the linc are busy as people head into the preseason game. earlier crash on the blue route northbound approaching the schuylkill is gone, southbound is really bad from norristown to baltimore pike, it's a slow moving line of traffic. and we have the crash we are watching in chester county. you will want to avoid telegraph road. and our wreck in cherry hill along 70 westbound has been pushed out of the way. and in vineland an earlier wreck brought down a pole stay clear of the east side deli and stick with tuckahoe as an alternate. and a trenton line train is canceled because of mechanical issues and the 10 control trolley not running, and on the buses instead because of track work in west philadelphia evacuation orders and the oil industry is watching this closely. a third of america's oil refineries are there in texas. a meeting is held in texas due to racist graffiti on a school. gray hall is live in langhorne to fill us in. >> hey monica, that meeting is scheduled to take place from 7:00 until 9:00 from the township building behind me. the focus of this community is not happy about what happened here. this is an act of racism and something they do not want to see in their community. community members say it's down right despicable. days before the school starts, vandals tag the the school with racist language, some people wrote non-black cool school and racist words we have to block out. >> how can you spread this horrible hatred it's a shame. >> marley's daughter attends the school and she was hurt. >> she got home from vacation and can't believe it happened across the street from her house. the vandalism was discovered saturday morning, she head to the school to see if she could clean off the graffiti. she is holding a town hall meeting to discuss what happened. and how the community can move forward. >> i want to be able to walk away from the meeti what they can say to their kids and what to do if they see this happening. >> the neshaminy school district released a statement, one of our district believes is that it strengthens our society and teach and expect tolerance and respect. and this strengthening our resolve. the hurtful act hurt people in the community and hopes police are able to track down the people responsible. >> i live in this township and served in this township. this is not something that will happen in our county. >> all right back out live another reminder that the meeting is scheduled from 7:00 until 9:00 tonight and we should mention that we spoke to the police chief about this case. it's an active investigation and they have really good leads and if you have information contact authorities. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. and a national civil rights group wants hateful grat eve in wilmington up racist symbols and graffiti was spray painted on a car in woodlawn, the incident was not ordinary vandalism but a targeted attack on a resident of that neighborhood. philadelphia police know who they are looking for in a series of car battery thefts. this is juan carlos lugo known as juan martinez. they say he is responsible for a battery theft of jeep wranglers. he is 5'10" with a bald head and goatee. >> a teen walked into the path of a car while face timing with a friend continues to fight for her life tonight and it has shocked the abington community and sara bloomquist is at the school administration building to bring us an update. >> well, monica some athletic practices and other school activities went on here on the campus. this 14-year-old girl who police say was face timing when she was hit by an on coming car on busy highland avenue remains in critical condition. >> witnesses told police that the teenage girl was involved in a video chat near abington high school in wednesday afternoon. i heard god no. as a mother it's a very upsetting no. i knew something was wrong. jacqueline lives nearby and neighbors rushed to the scene and saw them huddling around the badly injured girl and 2:45 when the girl was hit by the on coming suv and police confirmed witness reports that the girl was distracted. >> we determined speaking to witnesses that the young lady was distracted on the face time on her cell phone. which was obviously a contributing factor in the accident. >> the driver of the suv stopped at the scene and also tried to help the teen. she was transported to abington memorial hospital and later flown to childrens hospital. normally highland avenue is a 25 miles per hour speed limit and 15 during classes, and that starts next week. >> usually the traffic is obeying the speed limit like 25 miles per hour. but when the lights are flashing it's 15 miles per hour it's hard to believe that you know that someone got hurt. >> there was an accident investigators trained forensic examiners at the scene and further scamming physical evidence and damage to the car and piece together what happened here. >> reporter: the abington school district does confirm that the 14-year-old attends here. and we are told that she was entering ninth grade this year and the school district says she was on the way to the school activity when she was struck and a few scientists told her she was on her way to cheerleading tryouts and counselors are made academic and cognizant skills. contestants arrived in philadelphia for the 49th annual miss black america pageant and held the news conference to kick it off. the pageant started in 1968 in response sailors when a tanker collided. and now it switches to a search and recovery. >> and a woman going on trial for stabbing a baby sitting girl in collingdale, instead pleaded guilty to the crime. she admits she stabbed dorothy dealingan in the head with a butcher knife. and she told authorities she did it because she was unhappy with the girl's baby sitting skills. and the mother told "action news" she was too young to be baby sitting anybody. and she was charged with criminal attempted homicide and reckless endangerment of of of another person. 24-year-old george rissle is in the jail charged with eight separate cases of vandalism in coatesville and valley township. authorities say he sprayed racist and neo nazi graffiti here on strobe street where he lives with his mother. known at broad street beyond the exit ramp, a fender bender, and not causing extra slowing, northbound where we get the worst travel time and more than a 20 min delay and stacked up to the double decker bridge. platt is no better as you head toward philadelphia, all approaches to the linc are busy as people head into the preseason game. earlier crash on the blue route northbound approaching the schuylkill is gone, southbound is really bad from norristown to baltimore pike, it's a slow moving line of traffic. and we have the crash we are watching in chester county. you will want to avoid telegraph road. and our wreck in cherry hill along 70 westbound has been pushed out of the way. and in vineland an earlier wreck brought down a pole stay clear of the east side deli and stick with tuckahoe as an alternate. and a trenton line train is canceled because of mechanical issues and the 10 control trolley not running, and on the buses instead because of track work in west philadelphia but the norristown high speed line is back to normal after the accident a few days ago. we resume local and express service earlier today. >> thank you. still to come on "action news" a great way to west. and that will bring some cloud cover at times overnight tonight. and partly cloudy and comfy and 66 in the suburbs and 63 if the city with the northwesterly wind at 6 miles per hour. as we round look at the exclusive accuweather forecast active down there where they are expecting one to three feet of rain in spots. it's going drift down there, and sunshine is soak us friday, saturday and "action news" delaware valley's leading news program. with ducis rogers, cecily tynan and jim gardner. thieves strike a south jersey charity and it's an explosive crime in a south philadelphia restaurant and the big story is a bucks county school community it's hurting tonight because one of its schools is defaced by racist graffiti. someone scrawled despicable language on herbert hoover elementary school in langhorne. happening as staff and families are getting ready for the start of the school year and members will gather tonight for a meeting at the middletown township building and that is where "action news" reporter gray hall is right now. what is the reaction to all of this. >> reporter: jim, people are upset, they are heart broken and alarmed by this and many tell us that racism and hate has no place in our community. >> this is not going to happen anymore in our community. >> bucks coins leaders like diane are out ranged after someone spray painting racist graffiti on the elementary school. some of it was non-black school and so offensive we had to blur them out. >> i want them to fine them so they are not punished but educated. they are in pain. >> it's believed that someone targeted this school and the vandalism was found. and people are upset.
