There is an investigation into some abuse and neglect that happened in West Philadelphia where police say a disabled man was left in critical condition. Officials say a Family Member dropped the man off at a hospital over the weekend and has not been seen since. The police were called to the hospital after doctors discovered the mans body was covered in bedsores. And now theyre trying to find out who did this. A really disturbing story involving the home you see behind me here in West Philadelphia involving what one Police Official described to me as one of the worst cases of neglect hes ever seen. Katherine williams says she knew that one of her neighbors was caring for a relative who became a paraplegic after a traffic accident. So, katherine says, she did what she could to help the man she knew only as david. He was like cold a little bit so i crochet and i made him a blanket to put around his legs to keep him warm. Reporter over the past few months she lost touch with her neighbors. Then this past weekend, investigators from the Philadelphia Police special victims unit started Walking Around the unit block of north conestoga street showing pictures of david in the hospital covered with bedsores. I didnt know what was going on until they told me yesterday these cops came around showing pictures and i didnt know that he was that bad off. I didnt know he was sick like that. Reporter the investigation started when an unidentified woman brought david to bryn mawr hospital this past friday. Officials there quickly transferred him to Jefferson Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. Authorities say by the time david arrived at jefferson, he was unresponsive and covered with soars in varying stations of ulceration all over his body. Authorities also say the would. Who brought david to the hospital, has not returned to see him since he was admitted. Katherine williams says she never saw this coming. This hurt me to my stomach. Im just worried and i pray that god pull him through. Reporter now, there are still a lot of questions about this case because the woman who brought david to the hospital identified herself as davids sister but neighbors here say the woman living inside the house with him identified herself as davids mother.
