Katherine williams says she knew that one of her neighbors was caring for a relative who became a paraplegic after a traffic accident. So, katherine says, she did what she could to help the man she knew only as david. He was like cold a little bit so i crochet and i made him a blanket to put around his legs to keep him warm. Reporter over the past few months she lost touch with her neighbors. Then this past weekend, investigators from the Philadelphia Police special victims unit started Walking Around the unit block of north conestoga street showing pictures of david in the hospital covered with bedsores. I didnt know what was going on until they told me yesterday these cops came around showing pictures and i didnt know that he was that bad off. I didnt know he was sick like that. Reporter the investigation started when an unidentified woman brought david to bryn mawr hospital this past friday. Officials there quickly transferred him to Jefferson Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. Authorities say by the time david arrived at jefferson, he was unresponsive and covered with soars in varying stations of ulceration all over his body. Authorities also say the would. Who brought david to the hospital, has not returned to see him since he was admitted. Katherine williams says she never saw this coming. This hurt me to my stomach. Im just worried and i pray that god pull him through. Reporter now, there are still a lot of questions about this case because the woman who brought david to the hospital identified herself as davids sister but neighbors here say the woman living inside the house with him identified herself as davids mother. Meanwhile now to the Senate Confirmation hearings of Supreme Court nominee judge neil gorsuch. Gun control made it clear democrats made it clear they will fight his appointment. 41 senators voted to filibuster his nomination once its debate the on the full senate floor. Last vote came from delaware senator chris coons. He says his support efforts to block his nomination are not in retaliation for treatment of president obamas nominee judge garland. I appreciate that judge gorsuch is an intelligent jurist an engaging writer. I admire his commitment to being a good father to his daughters an good husband to his wife and a good mentor to his clerks and i even agree with many of his decisions. But i believe that my role in evaluating his nomination is more than reviewing his resume Senate Republicans see the blocking of judge gorsuchs nomination as purely a political move. And let me judge say this to your faces. If the roles were reversed i dont believe one minute that you would have given the accommodation you are asking us to have given garland given to behavior of what youve done in the past. Republicans maintain gorsuch is a mainstream judge who will be interest from President Trump. Democrats say gorsuchs answers were so dill lewdd with ambiguity its not clear where he stands on big and long settled cases. President trump and republican lawmakers talked about invoking the socalled Nuclear Option when it can ums to judge gorsuchs appointment to the bench. What does that mean its a technical term. Because Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee are filibustering the nomination the Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell can use the Nuclear Option. He can rewrite the rules of the senate to only require 51 votes, that is a simple majority to end the debate on gorsuchs nomination and proceed to final votes. It normally would take 60 votes but then it would only be 51 in this case. Using the Nuclear Option by the way is not unprecedented. Democrats used the same strategy when Appellate Court nominees were being blocked by republicans back in 2013. More heavy rain coming in tonight but there is one nice day this week that were going to kind of highlight here in the seven day. Storm tracker6 live double scan the sunshine we had earlier is gone at this point. The clouds have moved in and the rain will be following from the south and those temperatures did hit the mid and upper 60s this afternoon but cooling off now that weve lost the sunshine, weve got that southeasterly wind coming in off of a ocean that is 48 degrees, 68 in malvern, pottstown 61, Longwood Gardens 62 degrees, quakertown at 61. As we take a look to the south and east, levittown 65 degrees. But notice hammonton, tuckahoe, del haven as well as bridgeton only upper 40s to 50s when you get closer to the ocean and townsend delaware sitting at 64 degrees. There is some moisture down to the south in fact Severe Weather with some tornado watches and warnings in parts of florida, georgia, South Carolina. Wooer not going to see Severe Weather but were going to see some heavy rain break away from that but the actual primary low is way to the west of saint louis so all this kind of shooting out well ahead of that low so unfortunately that low is going to kind of drift by slowly during the day tomorrow but there you can see the leading edge of the showers and heavier downpours approaching washington, baltimore also central parts of virginia so future tracker shows by temperature clock tonight, you start to see the first few raindrops falling north and east of philadelphia. Already turning a little steadier and heavier down to the south but its really just after midnight 2 oclock in the morning to 4 oclock in the morning thats when the heaviest rain comes through, even a rumble or two of thunder is not out of the question but its good timing this go round because by the time most of us hit the roads early tomorrow morning, 8 00 a. M. , the heaviest rain is gone, maybe a few lingering showers but damp roadways and as we go through the rest of your tuesday its not a washout. There will be some breaks of sun developing in the afternoon but same time as the sun pops out, there will also be some popups in the form of downpours and thunderstorms in a few locations tomorrow afternoon. So for that morning rush in the morning, it is mainly cloudy with a lingering shower, the heaviest rain is gone. As we break down the afternoon and evening rush hour, some sunny breaks, soaring into the 70s with a scattered downpour or thunderstorm. The best day of the week its wednesday. 70 for a high, lots of sunshine and gorgeous before a new low really ramps up from the south and brings even heavier weather to come in on thursday. The exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, showers and sun and even a scattered downpour or thunderstorm in the afternoon at 75. Beautiful wednesday, 70, rainy with some strong if not severe thunderstorms. Take a look at future tracker 2 oclock in the afternoon on thursday, again, we could be talking one to two, plus inches of rain on thursday. And then on friday its brisk, cool, cloudy with a few showers, 51 degrees for the phillies home opener and then we slowly dry it out and brighten it up over the weekend.
