Moving from an Opposition Party to a governing party comes with growing pains and, well, were feeling those growing pains today. We came really close today. But we came up short. Are we willing to say yes to the good, to the very good even if its not the perfect. Well, this caps off a very rocky week for the speaker is of the house something two former Congress Members know the feeling all too well. John rawlins has more from langhorne tonight. John. Porter hi, rick. We touched base with a couple of former members of congress, one is a d, one is an r to get an idea of the pressures they felt while on capitol hill and the kinds of pressures they think republican lawmakers were probably feeling who were either undecided about the gop measure or were not aligned with the gop leadership. This protest outside congressman Brian Fitzpatricks office one of many pressures exerted in the battle over Healthcare Plans. There are others. In this case this bill you will. So, you got to figure out whats best for the country. The pressure was extraordinary and you really have to redefine how you feel and how the lining of your stomach is going to react. It is tough. Reporter democrat Marjorie Margolis and republican john fox battled each other to represent pennsylvanias 13th district in the 1990s. Margolis once took a call from a president switched her vote and that helped cost her reelection. As for the Obamacare Repeal and replace drama paying out in d. C. , both agree republicans not aligned with their leadership are feeling the heat. Its really perfect storm. Every constituency hitting you all at once. Reporter from a policy and standpoint a lot is at stake for Many Americans but behind the photo ops hardball politics for what could be an unpopular vote back home. Thats always part of the equation what is it you can do for my district. Reporter were unsource of pressure a new president facing his first big legislative test in hyper partisan washington a loss could be interpreted as weakness. A win. If this passes people will think maybe he can hold it together. Reporter but if it doesnt pass . If it does not pass i think its a disaster for him. Reporter given whats at stake, fox earlier today said the gop should hold off the vote and work on a bill that is shoe your to succeed. Thats what i think. You got to figure out a way to get to the end line, the finish that wins. Reporter have to figure out a way to get to the end line and the finish that wins. Sounds like good advice. Guys Consumer Report says eating well does not have to be an expensive undertaking. Heres some tips for shopping healthy while also saving money. Buying organic produce does help limit your exposure to chemical pesticide residues but you can be picky. According to Consumer Reports testing some nonorganic produce is already low in pesticides. Like avocado corn and onions. If you do buy organic, limit it to fruits and vegetables you eat with the outer skin. Look for store brand organ in this casorganicsand try to shop. Youll eat cheaper fresher fruits and vegetables. But you have to eat blue berries in winter save money and buy frozen instead. Reporter heading down the aisles dont be tempted into buying expensive processed foods just because they say healthy or natural on the box. A better rule of thumb is to look for a short ingredient list. Those foods will probably be less processed with more wholesome ingredients. And think about how youll use what you buy. Every year on average a family of four throws out 1,500 worth of food. You dont always need to toss produce thats past its prime. Save overripe fruits and vegetables in the freezer and use them in a smoothie. And imperfect veggies can make a perfect homemade soup. And as for those precut fruits and vegetables, theyre typically more expensive but they do you time. So its good to compare prices and then decide what works best for your schedule.
