All right we are in the process of blowing up our 6 abc weather balloon and these are used across the globe to gather Important Information that is used in weather forecasting and this is going to go really high and get really big as well. It goes up about 100,000 feet to the edge of the stratosphere and the pay load with this, there are 800 launches twice a day across the world and we are doing our own tomorrow morning, that collects data and we find out what will happen in the future with the weather models we talk about. And as this goes up in the atmosphere so this guy will get to be 25 feet in diameter by the time is reached the stratosph e stratosphere. It takes two hours to rise and then it get theres and pops. And then this guy the parachute brings it down to earth and it only takes 25 minutes to reach the surface and then we can find it. This is the pay load, its amazing that we have all of this instrumentation, and this is a pound and a half, it has to be light to be pulled up by the weather balloon, this is the gps, that allows us to find it after it falls to the earth and it records wind speed and wind direction. This is something that typically we dont have on weather balloons but this is the go pro, this is so we can show the action news viewer whats it looks like. You can see it going up through the atmosphere, it records temperature and pressure, because not only do you have to know the temperature and pressure at earth where we live and play and where we are standing and especially in the winter months we have to look at the profile through the atmosphere and that determines whether we see a mixture of snow or sleet or freezing rain and that gathers the information. This is how it does it, this is the inflight computer designed by someone that works for the International Space station and that can actually record temperatures as low as 76 farenheit below 0. We get all the information and its put in the computers and that is part of how we develop weather forecasts. It takes two hours going up and collects the data going up not done and we find the great information and get to show it to you live tomorrow on action news. I think its fascinating how the equipment that collects the data is very sophisticated. We have an inflight computer and gps but the method of delivering it into the atmosphere is so simple.
