Reporter today the boys mothers boyfriend 24yearold Zachary Tricoche was charged with first degree murder. Investigators say he beat the twoyearold boy to death. The child who is not being identified by authorities did have siblings but its unclear if they also lived here or if they, too, were abused. Holly said he never saw any child here, not ever. No, uh. Reporter never. No, no. Reporter but you saw the boyfriend. In the morning about 6 oclock in the morning, 7 oclock. About 6 oclock i see him get in a cab and he leave. Reporter now, there was a delay i releasing the details about this murder because authorities needed to track down the childs biological father. Philadelphia police have identified the man who was shot and killed in front of his child during an Early Morning Home Invasion. Hakim rahman and his girlfriend were a wakened by two Armed Robbers in their hunting park home about 1 00 a. M. The suspects were demanding money from that company. Action news spoke to a neighbor who heard the shots. She did not want to be identified. She was just saying no, no, no, no, no and no, no, no like that and then you heard the shots. Police say a 13yearold boy was in the room at the time and five other children were in a room nearby. Rahmans girlfriend was taken to a hospital where shes in Critical Condition tonight. They say this red four door sedan was used by the suspect to flee the scene in north wilmington friday afternoon. According to police, thats when the suspect forced his way into a home on hertford road. An 80yearold man and his adult son were inside. The suspect stole Money Electronics by and jewelry. Officials much officials believe a delaware inmate tried to use an out of state anthrax scare to get transferred to a new facility. Last week a vermont courthouse received an envelope containing white powder and a note indicating that the powder was anthrax. Well, the float was traced back to dana martin who is currently behind bars for a murder charge in delaware. Martin told corrections officials he sent foot powder through the mail. He is not expected to be charged in vermont. At the big board now with the wildfires now burning across acres of land in nine states out west. In Washington State families are being forced out of their homes in california. A fire forced the closure of a popular tourist attraction. Windy dry conditions are only further fueling these flames. The fire threat is on the move. What we saw here last week in Southern California is now hitting the pacific northwest. More fires means more evacuations and more homes destroyed. Another terrifying scene in the west. Thick plumes of smoke filling the fire as seven major wildfires burn there. When i saw the cloud i 92 it was bad. The closer i got here the worse it got. Reporter three fires burning just outside of spokane. One of those exploding insize overnight jumping from two lunn 50 acres to around 5,000 in a matter of hours. Gone up in flames. Its a gut wrencher. It hurts. The fire is ripping through buildings. J. J. Anderson finding his neighbors home like many others reduced to a pile of ashes. Everything from the trips to the letters, graduation pictures, whatever, all gone with nothing to show for it. Reporter firefighters all over the state are now on the attack hitting the fires from the air and on the ground. Its the same across the rest of the west as at least 25 fires burn from california to nevada. And there is some good news here in Southern California. The mandatory evacuation orders for the blue cut fire have been lifted. That fire burned more than 30,000 acres and is now almost fully contained. Reporting live from los angeles bacchus. The superintendent of the Colonial School district was there to calm any school jitters. And a familiar scene here in north philadelphia this morning. Kids arrived at mastery Frederick Douglas Elementary School wearing their first day bests and a big smile along with their teachers, police from the 22nd district were there to welcome the students back to class. First day of school can have a lot of anxiety and feelings of stress for everybody around, parents students and teachers and we really wanted to have members of the community specifically the Police Officers welcome the students and bridge that gap between officers and the community. The plan for the white house directed Public Schools across the country to allow transgender students to use the restroom of their choice. But yesterday a judge in texas granted a temporary nationwide injunction. That means federal agencies cannot take action against Public Schools that choose not to follow that directive. Gawker. Normal high for this time of the year is 85. Cape may millville 80, wilmington 78. Allentown 77 and trenton 79 degrees and then the dewpoints, they really tell the story. Dewpoints most of our region in the 50s. Thats very comfortable. A little bit higher in parts of south delaware along the shore but compared to dewpoints in the 70s that weve experienced much this summer it feels great.
