Philadelphias not far behind from cleveland as the city is getting ready to welcome democrats for their National Convention but officials want everyone to know that getting around will not be a problem next week. And Philadelphia District attorney weighs in on the investigation into eagles player nelson agholor. Fireworks inside cleveland, ohio, this afternoon. Youre taking a live look at the quicken loans arena, the fight over Presumptive Republican nominee donald trump has pitted republicans e e ly several hours into the first day of the Republican National convention and already several delegations have walked out. Antitrump delegates demanded a roll call vote on the Convention Rules and were quickly silenced. Action news anchor jim gardner live now inside quicken loans arena with more on what just happened, jim. Reporter there is a break in the action right now but there was a lot of action here a couple of hours ago right on the Convention Floor. Delegate from the state of west virginia. Reporter there was call 81st day dustup a couple of hours ago when the antitrump Movement Made a last gasp effort to bring a vote to the Convention Floor, a vote to change the rules and let delegates vote for any candidate, any other just the candidate who won the primary in their state. And when the chair called a voice vote to approve the rules of the convention including the binding of delegates the antitrump forces erupted in protest. The whole thing lasted about 10 or 15 minutes and it appears that the anyone but Trump Movement has officially breathed its last breath. And so there you have that. Lets talk to terri madonna, the director of the franklin and Marshall College poll and one of our favorite political experts around pennsylvania. This protest seems to be over. Lets look ahead to the next four days. What does donald trump need to accomplish this week in cleveland . Thats a great question. The first element is unity. Donald trump wants to lead this convention with a party thats unified behind it. There are a fair number of no shows. The other thing he wants to do is present himself as president ial, does he have the lettership to govern. Can people trust him in the oval office particularly with national security. This is one moment, 24 Million People on average watch the conventions in 2012. The romney speech drew 30 million. Obama 35. So, theres not arguably a ton of people are going to watch and he needs to leave that impression, his best opportunity. Reporr yr ago lets look back in time when this whole thing really started, you look at the state of pennsylvania. If you looked at Hillary Clinton and donald trump, the margin was substantial but now this state is in play. Thats correct. Weve had divided polls. Some of them show clinton up six, seven, eight but a couple, one, two, even trump ahead. I dont think theres any doubt that last week when we had the situation with the email, you know, the fbi director calling her careless and reckless that thats had an impact not doing as well as she did before among women and independent voters but the bottom line here is i think we were not in play in pennsylvania in 2012. I think were back in play given the tightness of the polls. I think were going to see the candidates in. Remember, biden and Hillary Clinton go he to scranton where every politician was born but unfortunately dallas occurred and they didno there. Theyre new jersey play and theres going to be a lot of an o state. Political advertising on Pennsylvania Television stations. Reporter telev stations are going to do quite well. Youre right jim. Well, this time nex week philadelphia will be all swarming with activity surrounding the democratic National Convention. We know there will be road closures around the main venue in south philadelphia. But what may be unclear is how other Transportation Services will be impacted. The bottom line is officials want to make sure its smooth sailing for everyone. As we mentioned the main action is at the Wells Fargo Center in south philadelphia. Parts of pattison avenue darien street and hartranft street are closed. Broad street between packer avenue and 95 closed in both directions. Signs are already up along major roadways like the boulevard warning drivers of the impending closures that go into place this saturday. And thousands of extra visitors will put our Transportation Systems to the test. Taxis will be out in force across the city. Septas Regional Rail is already working on a reduced schedule. Uber is operating on a temporary reprieve. But will a strike threat and a major travel hub disrupt the balance . John rawlins live now at Philadelphia International airport and john, what are you hearing from the Workers Union there . Reporter well, organizers say up to a thousand people poised to walk offer the job, that could be the case. Timing is everything of course with the dnc just now kind of getting prepared to launch. At this point though the group not giving an actual strike deadline. These workers have voted to strike and keep in mind, you know, these workers are not reporter the potential walkout by the people who check bags at the curbside transfer luggage inside the terminal, direct passengers to the right t. S. A. Line, attend to wheelchairs and clean airplanes. They work for private contractors like prime flight which is hired by the airlines. They want a 15 an hour starting wage and union representation. The thinking arriving dnc delegates will embrace their cause should there be a walkout. I think that what were asking dnc delegates to do is exactly what the dnc is going to ask americans all across the country to do which is support a pro worker ached day. As for impact on airport operations. Well have to see. Reporter as far as other transportation issues during the dnc septa doesnt believe its currents rail system woes will have much impact. Most delegates are expected to use chartered buses or the subway. Uber has been given a temporary green light to operate in the city. Theyre still working off if the car service can pick up an drop off at the airport. Getting back to that potential strike no deadline given. Workers are planning a big rally tomorrow as when the strike ve s ken lt week the mayor put out a statement saying he supported the workers effort but he said he didnt anticipate that airport work. Customer service said it was not anticipating any Customer Service issues should there be some sort of job action in the near future. Live at the airport, john rawlins channel6 action news.
