Official confirmed six americans troops were killed today in a Suicide Attack and the taliban has said they are responsible. This happened near the Bagram Air Field. The troops were killed when an attacker rammed al motorcycle packed with explosives into the group as they patrolled a village near the air field. The attack comes just days after defense secretary ash carter stopped in bagram. Thats right after action news at 6 00. In other news tonight several local residents were monday those hospitalized after last nights deadly crash in las vegas. According to police 24yearold lakisha holloway drove onto the sidewalk on the packed Las Vegas Strip last night. One person was killed, more than 30 others were hurt. That includes five wrestlers and their coach Steve Cantrell all from Delaware Valley university in doylestown bucks county. Now officials believe holloway plowed into people on purpose. She he could be in court as early as tomorrow. Well have much more on the wrestling team caught up in yesterdays chaos coming up in a live report on action news tonight at 6 00. Philadelphia police have identified two of the three female victims in a fiery crash from over the weekend. Happened in the holmesburg section of the city and tonight officials are talking more about the vehicles involved in the accident. Reporter rick it was right down the road here behind me you see behind me where the accident took place yesterday morning and tonight still lots of Unanswered Questions for investigators in this case, for example, theyre looking into reports the three victims were possibly very active on social media before the crash occurred and toxicology test results are still pending in this case. One thing they say they know for sure is that that vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed. This was the scene of a fiery crash early yesterday morning that took the lives of 25yearold amani barton giavanna and another girl. Theres a third body not identified at the mes office. The m e. Is still trying to identify the person in the back. Reporter investigators say it was a bit before 3 oclock yesterday morning when the three victims were driving in a rented 2015 camaro traveling down the 8100 block of torresdale avenue. Thats when their vehicle lost control and slammed into a parked tractortrailer carrying herbicide. Fuel from that big rig then ignited another parked tractortrailer causing it to go up in flames as well. The investigation is still ongoing but police say speed certainly played a role. Speed limit there is 35 and clearly this car was going much in excess of 35 probably at least double that but speed was a major factor in this crash. Reporter the charred remains of the tractortrailers have been hauled away and a still growing memorial to the victims has been placed just feet away from the crash site. Stephanie williams who says she was a close friend of the victims says she came here because shes not sure what else she can do. I just wanted to just pray, pray for the family, pray for everybody around that miss them and love them. Reporter now, theres also discussion that the tractortrailers that park on this stretch of road routinely were parked there illegally but Police Authorities have said that is not true, the tractortrailers are parked there legally. It happened yesterday around noon at the Mount Hope Baptist Church near 46th and parish. According to officials a man showed up to the church on a bicycle then tried to lure a child into the church vestibule. The child went to go get help and then the man took off. Police said the child was never touched. On the weather front winter arrives just before midnight but it certainly doesnt feel like it. Reporter well, rick, hopefully the runners, the hikers, the walkers and the bikers will all be unaffected well see here but drivers are going to have to prepare for a february 1st shutdown that could last about 40 days. Last month city inspectors found problems with the falls bridge. You cant see the troubled areas, theyre under the road surface where beams and bridge deck connect. It was yeah, there was rusting of the steel, corrosion of the ca connections and we are putting out an emergency bid to reinforce these connections. Back in october 67 employees of a pharmaceuticals were notified that a nurse who was at sterling the vaccine did not follow proper protocol. On top of reusing syringes the vaccine was also shipped to the nurses home. It was stored in a home refrigerator without monitoring temperature as per protocol. The vaccine was also transported in styrofoam containers there were also unmonitored. Approximately 17 percent of adults get their flu shot at their workplace. The cdc says the vaccine should be shipped directly to the site or transported with a portable refrigerator that monitors temperature. The contract nurse in this incident gave up her lies searches the employees were all tested for hiv and help sites b. The fda is overturned a 30 year ban on blood donations by gay men. The agency announced gay men can donate blood if its been 12 months since their last sexual encounter with a man. The agency says they looked at the most recent scientific information and this doesnt increase the risk for hiv transmission but some lgbt advocates say this discrimination. They want all donors both straight and gay t to be treated the same. If you have allergies these scents play not be so wonderful for you. What Officials Say the bear was doing when the scout leader disturbed him. Also it was just a routine car chase for these officers in georgia until they realized it was two children at the wheel. And crown confusion. The Miss Universe mixup that led to the wrong contestant being announced as the winner. Now the details. A new jersey scout leader is recovering tonight after being attacked by a bear. The man apparently walked into a cave that the bear was using to hibernate for the winter but lucky for him his scouts used their training to help save his life. Action news new jersey correspondent Nora Muchanic has the story. Reporter it started out as a pleasant day for 50yearold scout master christopher petronini they were hiking in northern new jersey when he saw a cave he will be in just last month. When he lowered himself down the bear reacted and for the next hour and 20 minutes he was trapped under ground with the animal. The three boys called 911 and the search was on. Victim. We have the victim now yelling out. Reporter . It might have helped him by playing dead because again the bear felt threatened in its den z it had no escape route. Reporter while rescue crews searched for them in the woods at his direction the scouts tried to lure the bear out of the cave with snacks and bananas. The bear eventually left on his own but he suffered some severe lacerations. He is bleeding from his neck, his arms and his head. Reporter his injuries are not lifethreatening. The three scouts were unhurt and officials are praising the way they handled this frightening situation. Im sure that its the training they received as scouts that they were actually able to implement to save the life of their own scout master and i cant praise them enough. Its a good thing to understand where bears may den up and to stay away from those locations. In this case, it was a tragic accident. But, you know, folks should be aware that bears are in the area when theyre in northwest jersey. Reporter in fact that part of the state were told has the most dense bear population per square mile of anywhere in north america all the more reason Officials Say that that people there have to be bear aware. The teenager ethan couch was serving probation after his lawyer successfully argued he was too spoiled to know right from wrong. Now authorities believe both he and his mother are on the run. I believe he felt like the other shoe was getting ready to drop. Reporter his mother tonya declared a missing person now officially part of the investigation. Pictures of her pickup truck just released with investigators believing she is with ethan which could land her in jail. If we can find out that she helped him at all i assure you we will file criminal cases against her. Reporter couch was 16 when he killed four people while driving drunk but using the affluenza defense, his lawyers essentially arguing he was too spoiled to know the consequences of his actions, couch got only probation. Now, granted he is not a major drug lord or a king pin but think about it. Four dead bodies and this guy walked with straight probation. I have never in my Law Enforcement career and thats 35 years now seen a case that that sparked such outrage. Reporter calling the sentence a miscarriage of justice. Couch turns 19 in january and theyve begun the process of moving this case to adult court even before couch vanished. We obviously feel like he needs to be in adult court where a judge will hold him accountable for his actions. Reporter Authorities Say for obvious reasons they cannot talk about what exactly they are doing or what is being done but they are now urging ethan to surrender adding that they will find him and his mother one way or another. Monday night jims off, im Rick Williams and the big story on action news tonight is developing from center city philadelphia. Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 75yearold man in a room at the road way inn in the 1200 block of walnut street. Thats where action News Reporter dann cuellar is live tonight with the very latest on the investigation. Dann. Reporter rick, heres what we know right now. The man was in his hotel room on the fifth floor at rodway inn at the time of his death. Based on what police have been able to put together so far the death appears very suspicious. Police tell action news the discovery was made by a housekeeper just before noon. The 75yearold man was found lying on the floor face up with a cloth wrapped tile around his neck. How that came to be is under investigation. Its unclear if there had been other guests in the hotel room. Detectives have been looking at Surveillance Footage to see if anyone else entered or left the room in the hours before the discovery was made. Almost immediately others who work here in the 1200 block of walnut became concerned over all the police activity. I immediately got a little bit worried, you know, because i know its so many people around but i try to keep calm i told my manager and coworkers to stay calm i would go check out and see whats going on. Reporter so far police have questioned hotel staff and others but no one has been taken into custody. Right now police have not released identity of the dead man.
