Its a busy weekend, stormtracker 6 live double scan showing that we have a scattering of light showers, the steady heavy rain rolled through overnight and behind it its warm and humid, 81 degrees earlier in philadelphia, now we drop down to 75 degrees and cape may 74 and allentown 71 and wilmington 72 degrees, satellite 6 along with action radar, showing the heavy rain that rolled through pushed across Northern New England and there say stalled frontal boundary and it starts to move toward the west over the next couple of days and what this will do is bring us a tremendous amount of heavy rain, tropical rain even before joaquin gets close. Tomorrow mostly cloudy but around 6 00 well see light rain across the i95 corridor and the heaviest rain still offshore but that heavy rain will pinwheel in as we head into friday, friday will be a wet day, periods of wet rain in the morning tipping into the evening and lingering into Early Saturday Morning before we get a bit of a break in the action before we track Hurricane Joaquin. Future tracker showing into saturday morning, we are looking at another healthy shot of rain, the rain is the heaviest concentration is along the shore where actually the sandy soil can absorb a lot of rain and philadelphia 1 to 2 as you head toward the poconos. The question is where will joaquin head. You have to look at the pattern in the upper atmosphere, this blocking high, that is what won out this weekend brought us a dry papal weekend, that High Pressure is Strong Enough and that would capture joaquin in heading out to sea, and the euro which is the most reliable computer model, it nailed sandy, shows it going out to sea but other models show this High Pressure stronger than blocking high and it would help it stay there for a while and that would bring us a lot of rain and that is what i think is going to happen and the National Hurricane center actually follows that train of thought, it shows joaquin becoming a major hurricane over the weekend and moving inland and at this point it shows the track of North Carolina and virginia as a category two hurricane and have you to look at the entire cone of uncertainty, from southern North Carolina to long island, this is the potential path of joaquin and even if we dont get a direct hit we are looking at a lot of rain, be aware and prepare and the track is very uncertain, the key time would be sunday into monday, earlier sunday if it hits farther down to the south and earlier monday if it hits to the north and big question is the wind based on the track. Breezy and cool with a few showers and 60 and heavy rain and tomorrow night through the day, high winds 55 degrees and clouds and showers and 64 and sunday and monday, depends on joaquin and adam will have more in the accuweather coming up. A very busy weekend. Thank you. Still coming up on action news at 5 00, testimony got underway for a contractor and his role in the Building Collapse. Clever thieves make it into a philadelphia home, making off with a kitchen appliance too heavy to carry. nn action news continues with meteorologist, adam joseph, jaime apody, rick williams, and monica malpass. Joaquin pose a threat to the east coast as well as the jersey shore. But its too early to panic, adam joseph has the latest. Right now Hurricane Joaquin, sustained at 85 Miles Per Hour, continues to strengthen as a category one hurricane, here are the islands the bahamas and florida, its moving to the south and west and it continues to drift southerly and not northerly but eventually it will curve and move back to the north and somewhere along the midatlantic coastline, satellite and radar, the front passed through last night when it brought the torrential rain, its in the northern parts of new england and the front is to the north and east, it lifts back to the north and west, that will tap into the tropical moisture off the midatlantic coastline and enhance the rain once again. So as we look here for your friday and saturday, the winds start to kick back up, and this is that stalled front High Pressure to the north and east, and low down to the south, that helps to pull into the northerly winds, and gusts of 45 Miles Per Hour over the weekend and at the coast gusts to 45 Miles Per Hour, creates beach erosion here as we get into tomorrow evening, and many psych cycles of high tide, this is prior to watching where joaquin tracks, projects rainfall totals, by the end of the week we are looking at possibly 5 inches across the region and healthier amounts to the south and well watch the track. Coming up in the full exclusive accuweather sevenday forecast. As Hurricane Joaquin approaches, 6abc. Any time there is a court event and hearing it dredges up awful memories of what is the worst tragedy in philadelphia history but they are anxious to begin the process where they get justice. During todays opening statements, the defense began paining a much different picture, campbells Attorney Says that his client is merely a small time contractor used as a pawn and the developer that hired him. They should have hired people that were qualified to perform that kind of demolition but hired campbell to save a few bucks. A working guy from philly, set up his own business, not a demolition expert, he did nothing criminal and attempted a difficult job and was not given the appropriate help from the people that could help him. Meanwhile, Sean Benschop the operator of the excavator did agree to the plea deal of 10 to 20 years, the only other person criminally charged, but not formerly sentenced. Thank you walter. Hi there guys, its not looking a whole lot better than the other checks we did. Volume and jams in both directions by the betsy ross bridge, southbound is bad a solid line of traffic moving at this pace from academy road where we have the disabled vehicle, and some people are going far south to chester for the big union game and a lot of events are attracting people to the roadways as well. And on the ben franklin parkway inner drives are still blocked in both directions and that means gridlock, have a crash to watch out for in abington on old walsh road, there by kraft and nabisco, and one in bridgeport along broad street route 23 and west pike land, downed wires are closing 113. Adam is here and we are getting wet for a bunch of different reasons, flooding is a concern especially at the shore, as we look at double scan live radar, we see plenty of light drizzle around much of the area, in the heart of the delaware valley, we are seeing that light green and its nothing compared to that torrential rain we saw last night. Almanac tonight so degrees above normal and 82 and it felt rather muggy this afternoon, the low this morning, 75 degrees our normal low is 54 degrees, so a big jump in that low temperature this morning compared to where we should be sitting this time of year. Today is the last day of september as you look at the month as a whole and the second warmest month of september in philadelphia history with temperatures running 5. 5 degrees above normal. The heavy rain lifting into new england right now, you can see a stalled front and the train track for tropical downpours to the south and east. It lifts back to the north and west tomorrow afternoon during the day tomorrow. That is the forcing mechanism to get the heavy downpours off the coast and the rest of us seeing light showers beginning to break out and that continues its journey to the north and west and heavy rain in southern new jersey and delaware and lighter rains in southeastern pennsylvania and light rain early on friday, it turns heavy once again and nasty evening rush hour with torrential rain around and strong winds at the same time. Friday afternoon when we see the heavy rain, winds at the shore and southern delaware at 40 Miles Per Hour, those are wind gusts, 20s inland and that piles up the water with the dreaded northeasterly wind carving that sand and creating that beach erosion. We have a lot going on in the upper part of the atmosphere, our steering patterns a couple of blocking High Pressures one in the north atlantic, and that helps to try to block Hurricane Joaquin from heading out to the coast, and that is Strong Enough and that is the case and the upper level low takes in joaquin that low will take it along the u. S. Canadian border to the northeast and this high blocking pressure will keep it from escaping to the north. Winds sustained at 85 Miles Per Hour and moving to the southwest at a couple hundred miles northnortheast of the bahamas and makes a curve and becomes a major hurricane, as early as late tomorrow and friday concluding on saturday with winds sustained at 115, and the laest of the track take its near the outer banks of North Carolina as a direct hit of a category two. Anywhere in the red it could travel and keep shifting it to the south and west and that is good news for us as a direct hit, it gets some effects including heavy rain, todays message be aware and be prepared, the key time for us with any type of indirect effects is sunday and monday and flooding would become the big concern inland and at the coast, the exclusive accuweather forecast, breezy and cool with a shower around tomorrow and 60, heavy rain and wind moving in early friday into saturday and saturday we have a window of opportunity of lighter showers before some heavier rain pushes in saturday, sunday and monday as we look for joaquin to make landfall in the midatlantic and east coast. A lot to look at, the first round is thursday night into saturday morning with heavy rain guys. Thank you.
