the last day of 2014. it is monday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the investigation into the disappearance of the 26-year-old mother of two, and it has taken a major step forward tonight. "action news" reporter dann cuellar, what are the details here? >> jim, as you say he was being sought for questioning in connection with the disappearance of his wife. the police say he gave them a little bit of a run before being captured in the chase. "action news" there as kyle crosby was being he ises -- being escourted with the police. and erica seen with kyle coming out of this public before new year's eve. the man told the police his wife left him and didn't know where she was. relatives were not buying it demanding he be questioned again. when the police tried to top him driving the woman's ford taurus he tried to flee. and this motorist was caught up in it. >> cop cars from everywhere. there must have been 10 or 12 of them i had seen. and i pulled over and the next thing i know there were cop cars all around me. >> sources say kyle was hanging out in camden doing drugs with a prostitute since last wednesday. the mother of two daughters, the relatives were relieveled he was taken into custody. >> i was glad they got him. i just want him to come forward. i just want him to come forward and tell where she is i am so glad you guys got him. >> we haven't slept, we haven't ate or did anything. we just want my sister back. and it is like a really emotional time for our family. >> all we're speak being is erica every day, this is killing me. just come forward and tell us where she is. all she wanted to do is love him. >> for the record kyle crosby has not been charged in his wife's disappearance, but he continues to be questioned tonight. stay tuned for continuing developments. live in brook lawn new jersey dann cuellar channel 6 news." >> thank you. the latest developments from a deadly mass transit incident in the nation's capital. one woman died two passengers in critical condition after smoke filled a d.c. metro train. about 200 passengers had to be evacuated from the plaza, one of the busiest stops on the metro. many had to be rescued from the subway train stopping short of the station in the tunnel. investigators still don't know where all the smoke came from but a passenger recorded just how choking it was. >> we have one on the platform. >> people are going everywhere. the conductor of the metro asked everyone to be calm. and everybody is coughing and there was black stuff everywhere. it is all over my pants, too. when we walked out it was under our noses and we had no idea what it was. >> more than 80 people were hurt, including a firefighter. most from smoke inhalation. the national transportation safety board has taken over the investigation. in philadelphia eight residents of an east falls apartment house had to be evacuated when high levels of carbon monoxide were discovered. and at park lane they found the fumes were coming from two oftens in the four-apartment structure. fortunately nobody was hurt. a water main burst under 57th street in the wynnefield section of philadelphia and ruptured the street. "action news" there as a huge chunk of asphalt was lifted up by the flowing water. if also created an odd whirlpool effect as gravity pulled it down. a 20-inch main broke but service since restored. a different section of the same main broke last january. between wynnefield and cardinal is closed for repairs. the rain all but moved out, but there is concern tonight about the moisture on the ground freezing over as temperatures sink down into the 20s. the "action news" big board and meteorologist cecily tynan. cecily, there will be icy spots, no question about that. >> there will be jim. especially the untreated surfaces that are shuttered from the wind likely becoming sheets of ice in the overnight hours. the reason why, showing we did get a lot of rain today. about a half inch in philadelphia, close to an inch along the coast. the last of the showers are beginning to pull away and it should all be clearing the coast by about midnight. temperatures really haven't dropped at all yet. philadelphia, still 38 degrees, the high for the day. allentown 35. millville 37. we're above freezing. the poconos though dropped down to 28 degrees. a cold front will be sweeping through within the next two hours. that will kick up the winds and really drive the temperatures down very quickly. by 6:00 temperatures will be below freezing generally in the 20s even below freezing at the shore and that will cause some problems. this is what to expect as we head through the morning rush hour. watch out for black ice. anything that looks wet is ice. most of these will be the secondary roads. a lot of the main roads are treated very well. driveways and sidewalks, be careful walking. and even your car doors could be glazed over. i will talk about brutal wind chills tomorrow and then finally a little bit of a january up that in the forecast. and the "action news" morning team on starting at 4:30 giving you the latest updates on icy conditions and there they're causing traffic troubles or school delays as they did this morning. police taped off the scene on the 200 block of west 23rd street tonight in wilmington and recorded the city's first homicide of 2015. gunfire erupted at 6:30 tonight at an unidentified man and his 20s was shot multiple times. he was declared dead at the scene. lawmen have no suspects nor a motive. police in newark delaware are also in search of killer tonight. live at the scene of a deadly double shooting. what is the latest there? >> jim, about 30 minutes ago we got the confirmation that a second man died at the hospital late tonight. the other was pronounced dead on the scene, which is still active, as the new castle county police continue their investigation. we do not know who was doing the shooting or if that killer is still on the loose. it was a large scene with new castle county police all over it inside of the apartments in new arc delaware. shots why fired around 7:30 the complexion filled with dozens of family. >> and i was watching tv and muted the tv and we heard six more go off. i have six kids so i am worried. >> police rush to find two men shot several times. one pronounced dead on the sidewalk. the other was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition. james jones' grandkids were inside of his home just feet away from where the gunfire sparked. >> they said they heard a noise and didn't know what it was. they don't hang around out here. i keep my family in the house. they come out and play once and awhile, but other than that when i am not around i don't want them out here. >> a police dog and crime scene unit investigators went to work as detectives talked to residents who say there are drug issues in the community. >> nobody should be hurt. it shouldn't come down to this. >> possible and distraught family members also showed up trying to learn of the men shot or loved ones. jones is thankful his grandkids are safe. >> this is life you know what i am saying? you never know what people are doing. i stay in my lane, everybody else stay in theirs we can get along real good. >> here's another live look at this scene where new castle county police are working. again the second man was pronounced dead at christiana hospital tonight. we are also working to find out more information about the circumstances surrounding this double murder jim. reporting life in newark delaware, kenneth moat moten for channel 6 "action news." and today the police identified three men killed. 40 year old ramon ortiz who lived in the 4600 block of vista street where this happened saturday night. 30 year old sarith mang and 40-year-old jason stratos of bristol bucks county. all three victims were shot in the head. the city of chester wants to put security cameras around the city. today the effort got its first corporate donor. rite-aid contributing $10,000, joining penndot and the university. and more than $1 million has been raised to add new cameras and repair the old ones. a rite-aid manager shot and killed in 2013 on west ninth street. and the city of philadelphia paying tribute to the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty. lieutenant joyce craig killed december 9 while battling a house fire in west oak lane. still understand investigation is what sparked that blaze and how she became trapped. but today it was all about remembering her legacy. craig's brother, michael, spoke on behalf of the family. >> everybody who knows what joyce did, or knew joyce knows that she smiled a lot. she loved to laugh. you know she loved to enjoy life. >> mayor michael nutter presented the family with the official flag of philadelphia today. lieutenant craig is survived by two children a teenage son and 3-year-old daughter. >> princeton university mourning a 22-year-old student found dead in her campus residence earlier today. holding a memorial gather for audrey dantzlerward of springfield, virginia. known on campus for her participation in many organizations including religious, humanities and women's programs. dantzlerward seen here singing in youtube video of the princeton wildcats a cappella group. school officials say the cause of her death has not been determined, but they do not suspect foul play. philadelphia city council president, clark, issued a statement today that seems to end speculation about whether he will run for mayor. in the statement today he said that he intends to run for a fifth term from his council district and says that becoming mayor was never his primary goal. former sportscaster turned criminal department don tollifson took the stand. and the judge had no excuse the jury more than a half-dozen times to instruct him on procedure and the rule of law. and denying charges that he scammed sports fans by selling sports packages. and he is expected to take the stand again tomorrow. improvements to athletic field in eagle vil, montgomery county set to get underway march 2. tonight the school district voted to move forward with the construction. and officials hope to have the facilities up and running by mid september. gloucester township police force grew tonight. the mayor and chief early swore in four patrol officers and four promoted to the rank of sergeant. we offer our congratulations to these men and women. and a late development an hour ago in the search for the downed plane as black box. and threats against american troops after u.s. military twitter and youtube accounts are hacked. plus a police helmet cam records officers shooting a suspect who appeared to be surrendering. tonight a decision on whether they will face charges of murder. it could be a tough morning commute and icy roads. wind chills in the single digits and teens, and not going to improve much by the afternoon. and researchers discover why your brain may not function quite as well when you don't have your phone nearby. and the flyers and jamie apody with word also of a possible change regarding joe paterno and penn state when "action news" continues tonight. what's with the suit?
