Yearold man apparently an innocent bystander, is a septa bus driver. Wednesday night and the big story on action news tonight is a double shooting on the streets of south philadelphia. Action News Reporter Kenneth Moton is live at the scene, kenneth, what do we know about this. Reporter well, jim that septa bus driver is fighting for his life tonight and he is in chris will california condition at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital after the shooting on this street. Right now, police are trying to find more than one gunman and a motive. In the middle of the south philadelphia neighborhood, nearly 30 shots were fired from this intersection by at least two gunman. This was senseless, all of these shell casings, i mean my mother lives on this block. She said eric, it sound like a war zone out here. Reporter Philadelphia Police say around 82 00 men were shot on the six hup block of winton street, a 35 yearold man, intended target was hit in the head and killed but it was a 56 user old offduty septa bus driver whom investigators say was truck in the chest by a stray bullet, an innocent bystander. He is an outstanding citizen, a pillar of the community, ever since i was a kid, he has always been a nice individual. Reporter neighbors told us that the 56 yearold victim was on the block checking on the vacant property of his elderly mother who suffers from dementia. At this point police dont know a motive for the shooting. Witnesses observed the shooting, witnesses gave us a description of the shooter but we dont have any motive a this is time. Reporter were not identifying this family friend of the septa bus driver but she told us he underwent surgery for his injuries. Man has work for septa for decades. He is a deacon at church and last week he buried his girlfriend who suddenly passed away. He taste care of his family. His mother always calls his name, crack, crack. A tense situation ended peacefully in upper darby tonight. Man held police at bay inside a house in the 700 block of East Providence road. Officials said that he fired at least eight shots at officers who surrounded the house. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. Police were able to enter the house and subdue the man. They came out tonight by the hundreds, to leave no doubt in anybodys mind. They do not want a new casino built at ninth and packer. They say too much crime, too much traffic. Judge ruled in caitlins case her parent to have pay about 16,000 this year. The law in new jersey is so clear, it is cut and dry. Law says parents are supposed to contribute to their childrens educational expenses. Reporter laura and michael said they were willing to pay for their education in state in new jersey and if she followed the rules and lived at home. It is just unbelievable. I dont think there is any person, not one adult or parent that i have spoken to and told this to who can imagine that this can happen to them. Reporter caitlin whom they say wont reply to their messages replied to Temple University out of state and only time that they say they have seen her in the last two years is in a courtroom. I spend a lot of time looking at her, looking over at her to get eye contact with her and she wont look. Interesting to note her paternal grandparents whom she is living with were the ones who hired an attorney to sue their own son.
