>> grief and anger in a neighborhood in camden. the community gathers to remember an 8-year-old girl caught in the cross fire. the gunman remains on the loose. they are asking the neighbor's to speak up to bring the killer to justice. i'm walter perez. the search of a gunman who took the life of a little girl. family, friends and neighbors gathered where gabrielle was shot in the head. we are live from camden with more. jeff? >> reporter: walter, gabby, as they call her was remembered as a fun-loving little girl. you can see the memorial growing in front of the family's home. tonight, police have few leads. the family members called on the community to bring the killer to justice. you could feel marissa carter's anguish as she spoke to hundreds who gathered to mourn her daughter, 8-year-old gabrielle carter. she was fun. loving. outgoing. so much character. >> reporter: family, friends and neighbors lit candles and hugged in front of the home where she lived. the innocent victim of a gun battle wednesday night. >> if this is her time to be called on, it could be me next. >> reporter: the vigil was a rally for justice. the cousin appealed to those in the crowd too afraid to tell police what they know about the gunman. >> you are friendly with him. your sons and your daughters. >> reporter: despite handing out flyers and a growing reward, police officials say the community remained largely tight lipped. gabby's uncle is holding out hope. >> we encourage anybody with information, anybody who has any knowledge, if you think you know, if you hear chatter, we ask that you report it to the proper authorities, you know, bring the killer to justice. >> reporter: back out here live, a significant police presence in the neighborhood since the shooting on wednesday. it will continue for the foreseeable future. the reward in the case is up to $24,000. tipsters can remain anonymous. jeff chirico, channel 6 "action news." walter? >> thanks for that report. a community is remembering a 2-year-old boy from pennsauken murdered last week. this was a vigil for jamil baskerville. trichoche beat the boy to death. it started as an argument between trichoche and his girlfriend. he's being held on $1 million bail. gather in north philadelphia to spread the message. the killing of children needs to stop. music therapy and story telling to communicate the message. this is hosted by the express yourself crisis response center. after a two-week investigation, police say they busted a man for putting a device on an atm in northeast philadelphia. police arrested the man this afternoon. this is video of what appears to be the device. they saw the suspect try to place the device at the true mart financial credit union. investigators have not released the suspect's name at the time. a 2-year-old rushed to the hospital after being pulled from a pool. emergency responders were called to 100 block of prospect road. when they got there, they started cpr and took the child to kennedy university washington township hospital in critical condition. autopsies completed confirmed a couple found dead inside their home were beaten to death. 28-year-old ryan coles has been charged with killing his parents, 58-year-old edward and 55-year-old rosemary. ryan coles may have used a chair to beat them to death. it's been ruled blunt trauma to the head. relatives found the bodies. they owned and operated a music store. a motive has not yet been determined. firefighters battle a three-alarm fire at a home in atlantic county. the flames broke out after 3:00 inside a home on east yorkshire avenue and bay drive. the back of the home partially collapsed before the fire was brought under control. no word if anybody was injured or how it started tonight. the investigation is under way to find out how the fire killed a woman. the fire broke out at the home on north 7th street. the victim is tasha roots. her brother is a firefighter. we will hear from him as well as her son. politics. hillary clinton received her first national security briefing today as the democratic presidential nominee. she attended the briefing more than two hours in white plains, new york. the former secretary of state routinely received the briefings. they are customary for presidential nominees. the next commander in chief has an understanding of the protocols. donald trump held a campaign rally in des moines, iowa. lowering the tax rate on family farms by 15%. he said one of the campaign goals is to, quote, make america grow again. a southwest airlines flight from new orleans to orlando had to be diverted this morning after an engine failed. the flight landed safely in pensacola. a passenger took pictures of the damage. southwest officials say taking the plane out of service, but did not offer a reason for the engine's failure. a warning for swimmers at the jersey shore this weekend. forecasters say the conditions are ripe for rip currents. the warning runs through next week in part due to tropical storm gaston as it moves over the atlantic ocean. melissa magee joins us with more details and the accuweather forecast. >> there are a couple things contributing to the rip current risk. the first thing is gaston. i was a tropical storm and has been upgraded to a hurricane with winds 85 miles per hour. it' well away from the u.s. mainland. we have a bit of a long area of swelling along the coast and the fact we have a big ridge of high pressure over much of the west. tapping into the northwesterly wind. that is contributing to the rip current risk over new england, long island, down the new jersey coastline and delaware. once again, saturday afternoon, if you are at the shore tomorrow, make sure you swim where the life guards are on duty across the region. with the easterly wind, it is cool off the coast. 71 in atlantic city inland. 75 in philadelphia. here are the dew point numbers, not too bad. temperatures are -- do you want temperatures in the 60s west of town. not terribly humid across the region. you notice a difference tomorrow afternoon. dew point numbers in the lower 60s across much hospital died this morning. italy observed a national day of mourning for the victims killed by the quake. political leaders gathered during a funeral inside a community gym. a bishop urged the community to pull together and rebuild. meanwhile, rescue workers continue to search for survivors in one of the areas hardest hit. they searched the rubble with heavy machinery and dogs. police in chicago are questioning two people in the shooting death of the cousin of dwyane wade. nykea aldridge was killed pushing her baby in a stroller near a school in chicago where she was going to enroll her children. two men walked up, began shooting at a third man but hit the woman in the head and arm. she was not the intended target. >> i believe it's senseless. going to register kids for school and the round that has no name found it way to her head. >> the crime comes as chicago is seeing a spike in the number of shootings and homicides this year. in fact, the murder rate is up in the city, 48%. a man has been arrested and charged with the stabbing death of two nuns in mississippi. rodney earl sanders is facing two counts of murder. their bodies were discovered inside their home after not reporting to work on thursday. no word on a motive. 49ers quarterback, collin cab cabernick refused to stand for the national anthem. it was a protest for african-americans and other minorities in the u.s. he sat before they took on the packers in the nfl match up. they said players are encouraged, but not required to stand for the national anthem. much more to come on the "action news." we'll
