And the the big story on action news tonight is the arrest of brandon speach for alleged crimes targeting children. A mother tells us speach was babysitting her kids when she discovered he was not who he said he was. Christie ileto spoke with her exclusively tonight. Reporter thats right. That mother was so shaken up, understandably so. She said shes the mother of nine works seven days a week and it was while she was at work that this mans mugshot aired on tv. Thats when she said she realized she had left her kids home with an alleged criminal. I said, i gotta go. Im like, i gotta go. Reporter the mother who doesnt want her identity shown choked back tears reliving the moment she discovered she had left her kids home with a wanted man. So i just was racing home or whatever. I got home, calling the cops telling them that was the guy in my house. Hes my babysitter. Reporter brandon speach is facing sexual abuse charges among other things for allegedly posing as a woman on social media to solicit nude images of teenage boys. Detectives say it happened over the last three years. How did he gain your trust . He gained my trust because he was working at the school. Reporter Philadelphia City schools confirmed he worked at an Elementary School but through nonprofit education works. They tell action news theyre shocked and deeply troubled by the allegations and reassured parents all our employees, even part time, are required and successfully complete a comprehensive federal and state background check. Im his grandmother. Reporter youre his grandmother. I dont want to talk to you. Reporter speachs family did not want to talk to us. But familiar friends called it jarring. You never expect somebody thats your neighborhood, that you grew up with. He never did anything to my kids. I always question my kids about everything. He never did anything wrong to my kids. It will been burning for 8 1 2 hours shooting a flame high in the air from 1 30 this afternoon until 10 00 tonight. This is how it looked earlier along Ocean Heights avenue in egegg harbor township. This is south jersey gas says a live electrical wire fell onto a metal guardrail along the road. The electric current then traveled into a nearby eightinch gas main causing it to ignite. Cruise were finally able to extingish it about 10 00. Fortunately no one was hurt. The heat index soared up to 105. And this is the second day in our fifth heat wave of the year. And it looks like we have four more days of temperatures in the 90s. So were not even halfway through it yet. And stormtracker 6 live double scan showing that were not getting a lot of activity this the form of thunderstorms to cool us off. Most of the activity is just north of our viewing area, but we do have some pretty active storms just in the Northern Tier of our viewing area. Penn arjil right now is getting in the action. Four women who were swept out to see while boogieboarding in strathmere are okay thanks to the efforts of the kieft guard. This newly released video shows the rescue last night. Take a look. The women were swept out by strong currents about 7 30 which is after the lifeguards leave. Two Good Samaritans in canoes tried to reach the women but their boats capsized. They were able to swim back to shore though, themselves. Someone shined a laser at an airplane that was trying to land at Northeast Philadelphia Airport tonight. These faa recreations show what kind of danger that can pose. But fortunately, the pilot tonight was able to make a safe landing. Philadelphia police say it happened at 7 20 tonight and they believe the laser came from the direction of woodhaven and thornen roads. A viewing was held tonight in northeast philadelphia for three small children killed in a murdersuicide last weekend. 8yearold leanna, 5yearold mj, and 2yearold willow short were found dead in their berks county home along with their parents. Its still not clear which of the parents killed the family or how. Some of philadelphias top Law Enforcement officials spent this evening walking through what they say is one of the citys most violent neighborhoods. District Attorney Says williams led the effort. It kicked off in the 2200 block of west lehigh avenue in philadelphia. He said he wanted to meet folks in the neighborhood especially those affected by gun violence. The fallout continues tonight after an aboutface by a key prosecution witness on day three of the trial of attorney general kathleen kane. Political consultant josh morrow reversed his testimony and now says he conspired with kane to leak some documents with secret grand jury testimony to a local newspaper. Morrow says they planned to blame that leak on her former boyfriend and top Deputy Adrian king. Police tell us theres nothing they can do at this point about a distracted driver who was texting with her hands and driving with her foot along the schuylkill expressway. A 3yearold boy was injured on a roller coaster in westmoreland county, pennsylvania, today. It happened on a wooden coaster at the Idlewild Park outside pittsburgh. A dispatcher says the boy fell from the ride but the park has not provided any details. That accident comes on the heels of two others at amusement parks this week alone. On sunday, a 10yearold boy was killed at a water slide in kansas. And on monday, three girls were injured after falling from a ferris wheel in tennessee. Firefighters will be back tomorrow to the scene of this deadly explosion at an apartment complex in maryland. At least two people were killed. But then from lunchtime through 6 00, heat indices above 100 degrees. So that is dangerously hot, peaking around 2 00 with a heat index around 106. And then still feeling like 96 degrees at 8 00. And this continues right through the weekend. Saturday, i think, will really be the worst of it. The air temperature, 97. But the heat index, 108. And sunday wont be much better, heat index up to 106. This is going to be the toughest heat wave so far of the year. A great place to be down the shore. The Ocean Temperatures cooled off to 77 after a record 83. 3 yesterday in Atlantic City. Even the oceans warm. Air temperature tomorrow 88 degrees, warm and humid. Saturday, bumping it up to 90.
