>> thanks, chad. philadelphia police identified driver of the minivan who was shot and killed by a philadelphia police officer overnight. officials say five two-year old richard ferreti of schuylkill county refused to stop and when a officer felt threatened he opened fire. this happened on the 6300 block of overbrook after avenue. commissioner richard ross says it is obviously early in the investigation. this man is a at least the fifth bank robber to strike in philadelphia in just the past week. he handed a teller a demand note today as he held up citizens bank branch at second and chestnut right at noon time. fortunately, nobody was hurt. a modern day hero is being honored tonight in philadelphia. a new trauma center has been named after him at penn presbyterian medical center. monica malpass is here with the touching story of doctor john pryor. >> that is right, jim. doctor pryor was a gifted trauma surgeon but also served in iraq, sadly, he was killed during his second tour of duty there and tonight that tragedy is being turned into triumph. john pryor was a hero for a time, a talented surgeon the at penn, dedicated family mandy voted to his wife carmella and his three children but he also believed in giving back. he was moved to help with 9/11. doctor pryor took that spirit of service to iraq as well volunteering for two tours of duty when he heard they were shorthanded in the trauma unit. >> what we saw was a passion for his work and excellent at his work, and his care for others. >> reporter: but then came every family's worst fear, a mortar killed their beloved husband and father on christmas day in 2008. pryor paid the ultimate price for his dedication, his family was crushed. now, penn is dedicating a new trauma center in his honor, doctor pryor's wife and children were all there to celebrate his remarkable life and legacy. >> it is an incredible honor in john's memory, his legacy is dedicated to be a teacher, mentor will be continued to be known for many years to come. >> we live in a time that calls for heroes, whose lives, lay testimony to everything that was kind, that is brave, and that is selfless. >> may god bless these walls and the walls that we all walk within. >> much deserved, hero gone but not the forgotten. >> future generations of doctors that will all come to know doctor pryor. >> a absolutely. >> thanks, monica, good story. there is good news this evening for a south jersey family searching for their missing dog. bella the yorkie has been return. the dog was brought to a church in turnersville, new jersey last week after getting out of her fenced yard. it turns out that the dog was not stolen. a good samaritan rescued the dog from the busy black horse pike. he returned bella when the owners were identified in our report, last night. we're glad to have helped. bill cosby is now asking the pennsylvania supreme court to intervene in his case, and delay upcoming hearing set for may 24th in montgomery county. a lower appeals court last week upheld the sex assault charge is a begins cosby, cosby has not yet entered a plea. graduation season is a proud time for everyone but it is hard to imagine a pride, and the joy of the parents of 23 year-old temple student rachel hall. that is because the grateful that she's even alive.
