The hospital, the entire country has been watching where today, we learned that patient, thomas eric duncan, has died. More than a week after becoming the first person diagnosed with ebola here in the u. S. As youll remember, he was sent home the first time he went to the e. R. And this evening, word of that new scare. Another possible patient, a sheriffs deputy, rushed to that same hospital. That ambulance racing down a dallas highway, car rig the officer. Part of the team that went inside that contaminated dallas apartment. And right there, late today, getting out of that ambulance. Also breaking tonight, major changes at american air ports because of all this. But first, Abcs Cecilia Vega live in dallas. Cecilia . Reporter david, good evening to you. Thomas duncan spent ten days here in this hospital, fighting for his life and tonight, his family is outraged at the care that he received here. And now, all eyes on that ambulance that you mentioned, that showed up here this afternoon. Paramedics in head to toe hazmat gear, transforming this ambulance into a rolling isolation chamber. The patient, a sheriffs deputy, part of the them that delivered a quarantine order to thomas eric duncans family. Earlier today, that deputy visited a clinic feeling sick. Now, in a mask and gloves, rushing to the emergency room. While we are being told the risk is minimal, overabundance of caution, were taking several actions to make sure that the Public Health safety and welfare is protected. Reporter this just hours after duncan himself died in that dallas hospital. Duncans condition worsening in recent days, from serious to critical. The hospital cleared an entire floor just for him so hed be in complete isolation. Reporter duncans family, griefstricken and angry, claiming the 42yearold liberian man did not receive the same treatment as americans rushed home for care. Tonight, Health Officials denying that, saying the doctors, nurses and staff at presbyterian provided excellent and compassionate care. But ebola is a disease that attacks the body in many ways. But still, that question. If duncan had been admitted to the hospital on his first visit, instead of being sent home, would he have survived . I cant comment on what might have happened with an individual patient. Reporter tonight, another difficult question. How to handle duncans remains. Health carol workers following strict cdc protocol, wrapping duncans body in plastic and cremating it. His body still highly contagious. Today, thomas duncans girlfriend released a statement from quarantine here in dallas, calling for an examination into what happened here at this hospital. David . So tough for that family. Cecilia, thank you. Now to the big changes at american air ports. Dr. Richard besser, weve been asking about this every step of the way here. Big changes, theyre here. Which airports . Reporter thats right. Five major air ports. Look at this. They receive 94 of all passengers coming from the hot zone. 150 people a day. 94 of passengers, you say. More than enough evidence to put him in prison for life or even face the death penalty. Most criminals try and hide the evidence. These are proud murderers, adopting a murderous ideology of hatred. Reporter given the sensitive till of the issue, the fbi website tip form surprisingly makes no provision for confidentiality, asking, although not requiring, for full name, phone and email ail dress. I think clearly they need to have something that the public can see to feel comfortable that they can remain anonymous, which, that form, unfortunately, doesnt do that.
