Chris may has the night off. We had a relatively nice weekend for late december but it looks like a holiday storm is in our forecast now. Meteorologist kate bilo is here with more of what we can expect. Kate. Well, thanks, jessica. Were going to be tracking wet weather across the area starting tonight and continuing right through Christmas Eve perhaps even Christmas Morning but the main core is on wednesday, Christmas Eve. Right now light rain and showers moving through the Delaware Valley. We have some pink shading thats an indication of freezing rain although the freezing rain advisory from earlier has been canceled for the poconos as temperatures have generally risen above freezing but this is all just part of a larger scale system. Its moving in from the west and you can see still a lot of rain back across the Northern Plains and the upper midwest with snow on the backside of that. No snow for us. Were talking rain with this system and some gusty winds but unfortunately its going to put a damper on holiday travel. Tomorrow Early Morning were dealing with showers and note these spotty showers are around pretty much all day. A lost cloud cover. Its not a washout. Spotty showers here and there and then steadier rain starts to move in early on Christmas Morning. Temperatures right now again have risen above freezing in the poconos to 33. Thats good news. 42 at the airport, 42 in wilmington and 37 in reading. Thank you. The search is on for a gunman who opened fire on a philadelphia street in the middle of the day striking a man and a three yield boy. Eyewitness News Reporter be Todd Quinones is live at Childrens Hospital with a update on that young victim. Todd. Reporter jessica, that boy was rushed here to chop. He was shot in the groin and there are indications tonight that the boys father may have actually been the intended target. Christmas decorations and crime scene tape set the backdrop of a bizarre double shooting. It unfolded right here on the 1300 block of south newkirk street in grays ferry. Eleanor says her soninlaw was on the front porch when the gunman shot him in the leg. It was perhaps a case of mistaken identity according to police as the shooter didnt stop there. And then this defendant goes to the next house, 1335 and he opens the door and fires right now looks like one round into the house. Reporter thats how the three yield boy was shot just before noon on monday. The boys father did not speak to cbs3. She says her soninlaw drove himself to the hospital and is going to be okay but shes upset. She contends neighbors here were slow to call 911 for help. The complacency of people not to call 911 after you heard six shots outside your door, where are the morals. Reporter neighbors we talked to were reluctant to speak on camera. I heard about six or seven gun shots and i thought nothing of it because around here, its frequently you hear gun shots so a lot of people usually just turn the other way. Reporter touring the crime scene city councilman Kenyatta Johnson says that must change. This makes no sense. Its the Holiday Season so we definitely shouldnt have a family going to the hospital with a three year old shot in the leg. Reporter and im told that three year old boy was last listed in stable condition here tonight at chop and is expected to make a full recovery. As of right now, no arrests have been made. It started inside the china house restaurant. Thats on kresson boulevard. The cause of that fire is now under investigation. No one was injured. A 10 year old boy is hospitalized after getting hit by a vehicle in bristol township. Chopper three over that scene tonight at lakeland and foster avenues. That boy was taken to saint marry medical center. The driver did stop at the scene. Tensions are running high in new york. The weekend assassination of two Police Officers sent shock waves in the midst of continued protests over the Police Involved deaths of Michael Brown and eric garner. Cbs news correspondent marley hall tells house how protesters responded when the mayor of new york city asked for a pause in those protests. Reporter about a dozen demonstrators staged a sit in at new yorks Grand Central terminal protesting recent cases in which white Police Officers were not charged in the deaths of unarmed black men. This movement is about the police being held accountable for what has happened. Yeah, i think it is fitting were still out here and i think we still need to continue to come out and peacefully protest. Reporter the protesters evoked the names of Michael Brown and eric garner. Both men died during confrontations with white officers in ferguson missouri and Staten Island new york. Grand juries declined to indict the police. The protest was held despite a request from new yorks mayor. Two city Police Officers were shot and killed here in brooklyn over the weekend by a man who promise retaliation for Michael Brown and eric garner. Wienjan lieu and rafael ramos were shot. He posted on instagram about shooting cops writing they take one of ours, lets take two of theirs and shoot the place. Mayor bill deblasio called for greater understanding. Does that suggest that therefore police and community can never come together, there always has to be a wall between them . We cant allow that. Reporter another protest is planned for tuesday. Fishes say punches were thrown on both sides and the officer was hit with his own baton before opening fire hitting hamilton 14 times. The u. S. Attorney has ordered a federal investigation. In the meantime manney is fighting to get his job back. The superintendent of the Upper Darby Police department wants his office to be extra cautious. He cites the deaths of Michael Brown and eric garner as well as the weekend murder of the two Police Officers in new york city. Reporter we spotted about 900 students and parents here at Souderton High School to remember 14 year old nina flick and pray for her 17 year old Brother Anthony as he fights for his life in a local hospital. Were here to what was that, were here to mourn, were here to embrace. Reporter its been one week since police say 35 year old bradley stone went on a murderous rampage killing his exwife and five others. 17 year old anthony flick is the only survivor and monday night his friends prayed for him. I went to preschool with him and weve been friends ever since then and we stayed friends to this day. Reporter flicks sister nina, just 14 years old, also top of mind. Her friends say nina was outgoing, the kind of friend you would want to have. Her close friend, francesca told the crowd how much shell miss nina and told Eyewitness News that talking about nina will help all of her friends heal. Were all here for each other and that were just going to stay strong. Reporter stones motive still not clear but Court Records show he and his exwife were in a custody battle much police found his body in a wooded area not even a mile from his pennsburg home last tuesday. Christopher wheeler now faces at least 50 years in prison after being found guilty on all 25 counts. Wheeler is the former headmaster at tower hill school. Former sportscaster Don Tollefson is speaking out as he prepares to defend himself on charges he cheated charities out of more than 340,000. Two months after pleading guilty he headed to court on what should have been his sentencing day last week and withdrew in plea saying he had new information that proves his innocence. He says hes looking for a lawyer to work pro buono since his request for a public defender was denied. Starts to warm up tomorrow, a couple showers around in the morning and spotty showers through the day. Its any other a total washout tomorrow but its not a nice looking day either. Christmas eve rain on and off all day long. Heres 11 00 a. M. Another wave coming through around 5 00 p. M. , showers through the overnight hours and even a shower possible very early Christmas Morning but by 7 00 a. M. We try to clear things out. It will be a windy Christmas Day but well see some sunshine through the region. How much rain are we talking . Most of the models here reporting about between a half inch and a inch of rain so again not talking about flooding with this. Its mainly just a nuisance storm thats going the delay travel for some folks on Christmas Eve. Through the overnight hours we have showers moving on through. Your Christmas Travel the worst of it will be wednesday. Thats when you have the red light with the heavy rain pockets. Yellow light for tomorrow with the showers but much Better Weather if youre traveling on Christmas Day. Overnight light rain, drizzle, 38 degrees will be our overnight low and for your tuesday, mostly cloudy, mild with a couple of showers at 50 degrees. Again your christmas forecast Christmas Eve is the one that looks a little iffy with pockets of steady rain and strong gusty winds but highs in the 60s.
