>> well, we'll find out. you tell me. i think we have certainly big crowds. i'm hearing good things, but you never know. >> reporter: trump taking no changes, visitg with voters in manchester. >> very excited, huh? ohio governor john kasich. today, pouring coffee at the red arrow diner. >> let me warm that up for you. >> reporter: he spent more time in new hampshire than any other candidate. 64 days. 165 events. last night, hundreds of kasich supporters rallying out in the bitter cold. today, kasich telling me, his threat. everybody. i would love to know how many millions of dollars have been spent in n native advertising. >> reporter: today, abc news obtained this script. some of his volunteers are using it in their phone calls to voters, reminding them that, quote, jeb bush is trying to running. saying you d't want jeb bush business. is this kind of the same thing? >> we're not going to change our message the entire campaign. >> reporter: tonight, chris christie, the man who took rubio down in the debate, hoping it will pay off. he may need a new hampshire miracle to keep his campaign alive. >> and tom llamas is ve with us tonight from outside trump's headquarters. and tom, donald trump so often but today, he was sounding a bit more cautious. >> reporter: that's right, david, and for two reasons. polls in new hampshire historically sometimes are way off. and, also, the trump campaign learned their lesson after iowa. some polls there had them winning and trump came in second place. david, i can tell you this, though, the donald trump i encountered after the iowa caucuses clearly wounded. but tonight, donald trump, full of confidence. david? >> all right, tom llamas, leading us off again tonight. tom, thank you. many believe it is make or break for governor jeb bush tonight. spending more than any other candidate here in new hampshire, $30 million. and tonight, abc's jonathan karl on the campaign trail, finding himself suddenly driving behind jeb bush's bus. and jon had a few questions for the candidate, counting on new hampshire to survive. >> reporr: we're driving through manchester and, of course, run into the jeb bush bus. we're going to follow along because i bet he's going to a polls station. and sure enough, he was. bush wading through a sea of for votes. so, governor, what do you say so somebody who is still undecided right now? >> what have you been doing, man? no, look, what i say is, i've got a proven record of accomplishments, the most reform conservative record of anybody running. >> reporter: once the front runner, he's now fighting for survival. >> vote for jeb. >> reporter: even bringing his 90-year-old mother to campaign during a snowstorm. that prompted a withering personal attack from the man who's been his nemesis from the start. >> poor, poor jeb bush who brings out his mother because he needed help. mommy, please come, walk in the snow, mom. >> i know jeb. >> reporter: bush's superpac has tapped his brother for a tv ad during the super bowl, no less. >> experience and judgment count in the ol office. >> reporter: jeb bush bet the ranch on new hampshire. he and his superpacpending almost $30 million just on tv ads. more than any other candidate. ten times as much as donald comeback. >> i've bn written off, which is great. i always like that. i love the fact the pundits may not have gotten this right. makes me feel good. >> and jon karl is live with me tonight. clclrly there's a lot at stake for bush tonight. his aides telling y y that no matter what happens in new hampshire, the campaign moves forward? >> reporter: that's right. he says he is moving on. in ct, they have eight events scheduled over the nexex few days in south carolina, where they will also be campaigning with foer president george w. bush, his brother, and they have one big advantage, still, david, they have more campaign cash than most of his rivals. >> all right, jon karl with us tonight. jon, thank you. meantime, on the democratic side tonight, a uphill battle for hillary clinton, who did well here eight yearsp ago. new hampshire voters gave her new life after iowa, but this time, a different story leading in. trailing bernie sanders by double digits going into the primary. here in his own backyard. clinton has struggles to engaj younger voters, where sanders and here's what we're learning from the exit polls coming in right now. 3 in 10 voters saying honesty and trustworthiness are the characteristics most important to them. 7 in 10 voters describe themselves as liberals. that's higher than in the past. and more saying that income inequality, the economy and jobs are their top issues. abc's cecilia vega out with the sanders team and one-on-one with clinton tonight. >> reporter: hillary clinton's sprint to the finish line today started right here in manchester. what is your prediction for tonight? >> it's -- i just love the way new hampshire does this thing. they focus in on the issues and they keep coming back. >> reporter: those supporters cheering outside polling stations. >> thank you, all! >> reporter: bernie sanders feeling like a rock star in his own backyard. the vermont senator swarmed by supporters when i caught up with him today. >> if there's a large voter turnout, we're going to do just fi. >> reporter: now, in the final hours, the race comes down to this. >> go out the door and -- >> reporter: vunteers hitting the streets -- >> all right, here we go! >> reporter: these clinton supporters planning to knock on 50 doors today alone. have you been able to change any minds? >> it's a must. >> reporter: he said trump, chriie and rubio topped his list. and today, he decided -- donald trump. and to the people who might say heses colorful language from time to time? >> i'm the same way. >> reporter: he got your vote today. >> reporter: vincent smith, a veteran, came all the way from ohio toally supporters for governor kasich. momentum. so you came all the way from ohio to get out the vote? >> oh, yeah, we got an ohio brigade. >> reporter: and meredith hungerford, a junior in college, her first vote. hillary clinton. >> bernie sanders. >> reporter: tell me what about >> him. >> i just think he's very relatable. he knows what people want. and for me, climate change, he supports that, and he suppopos the middle class. i support hililry clinton, too, so, it was a difficult choice. i think i just resonone a little more with bernie. >> reporter: how you doing? >> good, how are you? >> reporter: primary day is here, huh? >> primary day is here. >> reporter: and outside, we met some long-time new hampshire voters, who take priri in their role. youulove your role as first in the nation primary? >> of course. >> reporter: why is that? >> because we get to vote. we set the pace for country. and conflicted voters deciding between candidates at the last minute here. let's get right to george stepepnopoulos, who will lead our coverage of the results tonight as they come in and georor, first off, the republicans. what are you watching for? >> can donana trump close the deal? he's led in new hampshire for 200 straight days. most of those days in double digits. but we saw, as tom llamas mentioned before, that in iowa, his performance didn't match his poll numbers. will that happen again or will he revers that? if he reverses it, he is the strong front runner agai and then, secondly, do the results on the republican side foe people out of the race or give them more incentive to stay in? and those governors, jeb bush, john kasich, chris christie, if they either go ahead of marco rubio or stay close to him, they're going stay in this race, no matter what. and that could be good news for donald trump, if he'sot this split field. >> and george, on the dimmic icdemocratic so, what does hillary clinton have to do here?
